“This place is very delicious. I have been here quite a few times. However, I'm writing this to the staff in the restaurant. I am ukrainian and came in today and noticed that the beef stroganoff was labeled Ukrainian. With all due respect, this dish is pure Russian. It was invented in the Tsarist era of Russia. It is good to support the truth, however it is disrespectful to label a dish with the wrong country just to support it. That is hate towards the orgin of this dish and is very disturbing to me as a Ukrainian.“
“This place is now called Spotted Duck. (I wonder when TripAdvisor will pick up on this). It was our first time and we were early. I had the halibut special with a Bernardus Sauv blanc. It came sitting on some black rice, topped with lobster pieces, arugula, and some cubed watermelon. There was some kind of green sauce spread on the plate to compliment the dish. It was pretty. The flavors came together very well. I thought it was a great dinner main. My husband had the sautéed rock cod with artichokes, puréed potatoes, and capers with some brown butter sauce. He said his fish was salty but at least it was offset by the bland potatoes and vinegared artichokes. We shared some beignets with salted honey on the side for dessert. The rosemary sugar coating was good enough for me. But my husband enjoyed the salted honey. Our service was great. Our server was congenial, attentive and patient. He was quite informative too. All in all a pleasant meal. Maybe we will try the duck next time.“
“Wonderful Rack of Lamb and top notch Paella. The only suggestion is that the wait staff be more tuned in to whether the Paella can be shared. We asked if the dish was enough for two, and he said it was only for one . It was actually enough for three.“
“Dametra Mediterranean is one of the must visit restaurants in Carmel. Located right in the middle of -By-the-sea, close to the beach and surrounded by upscale shopping places and art galleries. The ambiance is welcoming with warm colors, authentic decor and warm table cloths with nicely decorated silverware and well chosen designs of plates. Once seated, you are quickly welcomed by the servers and Nadeem, who is the owner of the restaurant. Nadeem is always smiling and welcoming guests at each table. The menu is crafted in authentic Mediterranean style with warm colors. You feel at home with the table settings and the menu. You will find delicious choices of starters, entries, sandwiches, gyros, falafels, shawarmas with choice of chicken, lamb, beef. You cannot go wrong with any dish on the menu. The Shawarma portions are large and may be good to split with a choice of appetizer.Delicious food and deserts. We were offered mint tea and baklava for dessert at no charge. There is live music in the evening at time of dinner and that's on my to-do list for next time. Enjoy the place and food and let me know how you like it.“
“I’m vegan and visiting Monterey when I saw vegan baklava! I stopped and the sweetest man was incredibly kind and helpful when assuring me that ALL baklava were vegan! It’s a small, locally owned family business and he was so sweet at my excitement that he even offered my family a sample of his favorite- the coffee walnut! We ordered every flavor, and I can confirm that they were all DELICIOUS!!!!!! I would absolutely recommend you stop for sweet treats!I’ll be back to try the food next!Vegetarian options: Vegan baklava!“
“Delicious dinner, stared with crab cakes, very flavourful lots of crab (not filled with breadcrumbs), lobster ravioli was amazing. Osso Bucco was hearty and delicious, finished off with Tiramisu. Great dinner topped off with a lovely conversation with the owne. Highly recommend when in Carmel. Lots of locals seem to dine here.“
“What a find. Walking distance from our hotel, lovely place and staff. Delicious Greek and Italian food. We had the bolognese and the lamb. So much food! Could not even finish it. Great wine pour. Can’t add photos. Ate it all including the complementary desert bite.“
“Always a fantastic experience. We come out from Texas two or three times a year and always have a meal at PortaBella. Fantastic food, friendly professional service, warm ambience and a definite one to repeat. Fantastic braised short ribs. The bisque is amazing. My wife loves the salmon. plenty of dessert options.“
“This market is a great place to get some middle eastern groceries that can be harder to find. A great selection. They also make really delicious food that is made to order, but still quick and very delicious. And, very conveniently, they have a great selection of vegan options on the menu, including falafel, bread, hummus, baba ganoush, salads, lentil stew, and stuffed grape leaves.“
“Fantastic food and service!! So delicious!! Portions were generous. A little off the beaten path. A hidden gem. We’ll be back for sure. Healthy and hearty.Vegetarian options: Falafel, hummus, lentils, beans, fries, moreWheelchair accessibility: Ramp in and lots of space for wheelchair“
“the portion size for the fajitas was very large, although the taste was pretty average for its price. i enjoyed the clam chowder and onion rings, and the seafood pasta was decent. fantastic service as well. overall, it was a good experience, but maybe i wouldn't come back besides on special occasions.“
“Marvelous Mediterranean flavors! Excellent octopus, House lamb beef pasta so delicious. Mamas meatballs with saffron rice perfect comfort food. The Beirut pudding dessert was an amazing surprise. Loved the silky smooth texture together with orange blossom infused honey and pistachios, ? Wow!“
“Beautiful spot! The cocktails are out of this world (that’s coming from someone who doesn’t typically enjoy cocktails). The Northern Lights cocktail is phenomenal. The service is wonderful. Special shout out to Trevor! Truly spectacular.“
“I was traveling with my family and we stopped by this charming place for lunch. The food exceeded our expectations! We Armenians know the taste of Mediterranean cuisine and Petra Cafe definitely has one of the delicious menus. Thank you so much for making us feel at home!“
“We went to the Sea Root based on convenience after our late arrival at the hotel and we were impressed. The menu is short; but what they do, they do well. I had the pan seared Salmon with something fancy (Scarlet runner bean, rainbow chard, citrus-fennel reduction sauce) that down south we refer to as 'beans & greens', it paired remarkably well. Both the Salmon and the beans & greens were outstanding. Based on the color I would guess the salmon was farm raised; but it did not disappoint. The price was reasonable and I would recommend the Sea Root if you don't want to get back into the car. Best I could tell, everyone in our party of 6 was happy with their meal selections. I went back for lunch the next morning and got the pancakes with blueberry topping with a side of bacon. The bacon you order as a side is different (thicker) than what's on the buffet and this combo was filling given I had the salmon late the night before“
“Stumbled upon this place after 8pm on a Thursday and couldn’t be happier! Phillippo was an amazing server - everything came quickly and the food was fresh, not overdone with the flavors and sooooo good. Atmosphere was spot on, food was great, coffee was Italian Perfection. Loved it “
“I just love Dametra and have eaten here quite a few times. The other day I was out running errands and realized I was hungry and wanted something healthy and flavorful. I was near Del Monte Shopping Center so I decided to stop in to Dametra for a Toss It (salad) with delicious falafel and one of their refreshing mint teas. That day they were only able to take cash for some reason and I could tell they were ready to get yelled at but it was not a problem for me and since I work in customer service I understand how much harder that makes their job. My salad was absolutely delicious and the falafel always hits the spot. I love the dressing and always get a side of lemon herb dressing and tzatziki to compliment the meal. I also love the quinoa tabouli and spanikopita. The baba ganoush is a little too smokey for my liking but the hummus is also a winner. They also have baklava for desert.Vegetarian options: Falafel and fries, hummus, baba ganoush and several sides too.Parking: Shopping Center parking lot so if you are looking for a spot during busy times it might be a little bit of a trek but not unreasonable.Kid-friendliness: They have a kids menu and since they are in a shopping center it's pretty chill if you have kiddos.Wheelchair accessibility: Shopping Center parking lot and the restaurant is on the smaller side but they have room for wheelchairs and outdoor seating too.“
“I frequent both Petra Restaurant and Petra Cafe. Recently, we took a party of 12 friends to the restaurant and all of our friends thanked us! The Gyro is hands down the BEST I’ve ever eaten and my absolute favorite. Whether you order the kafta or a steak, both are flavorful and so tender. Some kafta can be dry, not this one! Their falafel is the best too, really. Our friends loved the lamb shank and said it was so tender and delicious. Be sure to have tea or a Turkish coffee with the baclava! From the first bite of the baclava you’ll find your tongue floating in a sea of honey. The tea service is beautiful. From writing this review I’m ordering for take out right now! I encourage you to dine in as the experience is really like dining in the chef’s home. I just love it.“
