“Our absolute favorite spot in PG. The food is always delicious - top tier ALWAYS. The service is friendly, the atmosphere is cozy and it feels like our second home. We always take family and friends here and will forever sing its praises. Love their pizzas, pastas, desserts, etc. Plus the Heatwaves hot chicken sandwich pop up on Sundays is the best treat if you don’t feel like cooking. For dinner, we usually order the special, soup of the day, pasta tagliatelle, bolognese, short rib ravioli, pizzas - the list goes on. Great for lunch as well - best sandwiches (love the Monterey sandwich) and everything is made with delicious, fresh ingredients. Just best all around, truly. I could go on and on you’ll just have to try it out for yourself.“
“This place is insanely delicious. From the greeting at the door to the owner checking on us at the end was amazing. My goodness such creative and on point pasta dishes. Perfectly executed. And that lava cake at the end left a mark on my heart. Wow.“
“A true family run restaurant that serves great food. You know it's good when most customers are locals. We had dinner, I had the filet of sole and husband had the steak. Both entrees were delicious. We will be back to try their breakfast next trip.“
“Some of the best pizza I've ever had, including home made and pizza I've had when living abroad! I have some dietary sensitivities and restrictions so ordering food can be challenging, but Pizza My Way has been consistently amazing every time. Ordering for pick up is also very quick and convenient. If you're craving some delicious local pizza, this is the place to go!Vegetarian options: vegan cheese, vegan cheese pizza“
“We love this place. The food is delicious. This most recent time the fish came out cooler than we would have likes. The waiter probably forgot to get it. That's a pet peeve for me as I like my food hot or warm not cool unless it should be cold or cool like Sushi. Oysters were amazing. Bread was decent. We got the sole special.“
“Went for dinner on a rainy weeknight. Food was great, service was fine. Knocking off a star because although they had plenty of open booths the entire time we were there they would not seat a party of two at them so had to make due with a tiny table that was very cramped and barely held our plates, which I did not appreciate.“
“We were glad we came down here for lunch. The clam chowder was excellent - so was the crab Mac and cheese - not fishy. We probably should have gotten a salad to go with those two things - because all our food was so rich. But the wharf was so fun. We saw sea lions and otters before we left.“
“This will be a restaurant we will visit every time we visit Monterey. Roxanne was an amazing server and made you feel Like part of the family. She shared the history of the restaurant owner which is an amazing story! The food was authentic and 5 star. We will be back!“
“Please carefully read through my review if the price range is not within your daily consumption level:You need to adjust your expectation before dinning here. The price that you paid for the food obviously contains a premium, considering the restaurant locates inside the most luxurious lodge with the best view you can find in Monterey. (I'm sure there is no "one of the best".)I would reckon a 30%-40% premium contained in the price, comparing to a similar level of food and service elsewhere. $100+/persion can get you a 1-star Michelin restaurant anywhere else in CA.Now, back to the view: GREAT if you are lucky enough to avoid rainy, cloudy days during winter times, as the day goes completely dark after 5:30 while the restaurant only start operations at 5:30; GOOD if you encounter any situations listed above, but it remains a question for you to decide if you are willing to pay for the overly priced food when the entire coast has no sunlight at all.Last, I don't think the food is that amazing as some other reviews described. I'm not sure if they pretend to say so as they are purely staggered by the view or they rarely have the chance to walk inside a decent Italian-style restaurant. In either case, you should expect a decent level of cooking as you can normally get in this price level and a not very generous portion. (eat as many free bread as possible)“
“Carmel's Bistro Giovanni is our favorite restaurant in Carmel and it is ALWAYS just great in every category. We have been going there since its opening a long time ago and it never changes, always a fantastic experience with excellent food and service.“
“Always one of our best meals in Carmel. A go to location for curry. They have amazing clam chowder and a wide variety of appetizers. Comfortable very cozy indoors but nice outdoor seating when the weather is nice. Friendly professional staff, and the manager and owner are always there to greet you and make sure everything is perfect, we always plan at least one meal here when we're in town. “
“I always take visitors from out of town here on their first night and we've never had anything but a GREAT experience. Both my granddaughters are hooked on the meatball Lolli-pops for their first course then go straight for the spaghetti and meatballs and finish it off with either tiramisu or a cannoli. The grown ups were suitably impressed with the selections and wine but the highlight was our server- he was excellent, knowledgeable about the wine list and really sweet with our granddaughter. Ive been eating here regularly since 1996 and its always first of my recommendation list for visitors. 5 stars for sure!“
“Hello i just want to let the owner know about hostess. Bad attitudeWe arrive at gusto for dinner and we gently ask the hostess to be seated in a different table and the hostess we the bad attitude with out answer our thanks she move us to a different table has a guest our recommendation to the owner is to pay more attention with the staff.because is unacceptable to give to the guest a bad welcoming experience.. 02/27/24“
“Always a fantastic experience. We come out from Texas two or three times a year and always have a meal at PortaBella. Fantastic food, friendly professional service, warm ambience and a definite one to repeat. Fantastic braised short ribs. The bisque is amazing. My wife loves the salmon. plenty of dessert options.“
“Easy location right across from the Coast Guard station. Plenty of parking and great view of the bay. We were seated right away without reservation on a Friday evening. Would recommend trying out their daily specials. Fresh oysters from Washington state were one of the special served as appetizer. Burrata cheese was delicious. Tasty dishes and great service.“
“This was our first visit to Carmel and we ate here one evening. We read that their pizzas are good (even though they offer many dinner entrees) so we gave it a try. We sat at a high top bar table and the bartender waited on us. She was very friendly and attentive. In fact, other staff stopped by to check on us as we ate. The pizza was excellent and the bar mixes really good too. I would definitely go back.“
“What a fantastic restaurant! The food was outstanding very authentic Italian. I saw dishes on the menu I have not seen since my last trip to Italy. The waitstaff was excellent really knew the food, how it was prepared, the best wine to drink to complement each course. The restaurant is quaint but not easy to find. It is behind (not beside) the Cottage of Sweets on Ocean. Wander back behind the Sweet Shop and head down the alley and it leads you to the restaurant in a very charming courtyard. I am a resident of Carmel and never knew it existed, so happy I found this restaurant!!“
“Sat on the rooftop and as people filled in the service became somewhat strange; had to ask several times for items and one person in our group had her food taken away without being asked if she wanted a box. ( they didn't tell us; but they boxed a new order of calamari for her to take home). Average age group on roof on a Sunday evening was 30 years ago; only stating this as a point of reference for anyone wanting to decide whether to sit inside or do rooftop dining. For the price range of the food, eating it on a white tablecloth in a more comfortable chair without wind blowing our hair would have made for a better experience overall.“
“My family and I have been coming here for years! This place never disappoints. We drive two hours from the East Bay, just to dig in on this delicious pizza. Recently, I got the courage to try the spaghetti with meatballs. That meat ball was so soft and delicious. Literally melted like butter. Keep in mind I had my wisdom teeth removed and it was one of the best meals I had after recovering. Haha.“
“Prepare to be transported to a culinary paradise with Midici's spectacular takeout offerings. From start to finish, our meal was an absolute masterpiece, leaving us completely enamored with every bite.We embarked on a flavor journey with the Truffle Pizza, opting for the New York-style crust, and let me tell you, each bite was an absolute revelation. The delicate balance of truffle, melted mozzarella, and Parmesan cheese danced harmoniously on our taste buds, creating a symphony of flavor that left us craving more with every bite.Next up, the Bruschetta – a savory delight that showcased the freshness of the ingredients and the skill of the chefs. Each bite burst with flavor, a testament to Midici's commitment to quality and authenticity. And then, the pièce de résistance – the Nutella Calzone. Let me tell you, I've never experienced anything quite like it. Nutella and berries baked into pizza dough may sound unconventional, but trust me, it's a stroke of genius. The combination of rich, creamy Nutella and sweet berries encased in perfectly baked dough created a dessert experience that was nothing short of decadent. Generous portions and a burst of flavor in every bite made it an unforgettable finale to our meal.Midici offers a plethora of options to suit every palate, and each dish is crafted with care and precision. Whether you're craving a classic pizza or something a bit more adventurous, Midici delivers an unparalleled dining experience that's sure to leave you craving more.Indulge in the deliciousness that is Midici – you won't be disappointed.Vegetarian options: Easy to find vegetarian options from every section of the menu.“
“Are you kidding me!?!? This pizza was by far some of the best pizza me and my husband have had. We had togo place a second order it was so good. We were very impressed by this place. The Caesar salad and Sicilian salad I think it’s called? Was sooooo good!!!!! Huge slices of pizza. Just wow. My husband is a huge food critic lol so I know it was that good if he kept talking about how good it was. I highly recommend giving them a try. We ordered pepperoni pizza. A Hawaiian slice. And their Margherita slice. Soooo good. And the slices were HOT!!!! The pizza crust was amazing. So worth going to. Customer service was great. We absolutely loved it here. No complaints at all! Not one!!Try it!!!Kid-friendliness: Yep. Kids approve!!!!“
“Had reservations on Saturday night. Nice loud atmosphere, lively and comfortable. Makes you feel like you're at a restaurant where customers are very happy. Everything was amazing! The flavor was on point and worth every penny. Get the TRUFFFLE fries!!!! If you like that creamy thick dip, it's a must. Waitress was nice and attentive!Coming back, getting more martinis and trying more food!“
“Abalonetti's is always one of our stops when visiting the Monterey Peninsula. We love the vibe, wharf atmosphere, welcoming staff, good food & drinks at fair prices. The wait staff are AMAZING. We have been here for a dinner for two and for four. Most recently, we had a party of 20 to celebrate my birthday. The quality of our experience was high every time! Thank you Abalonetti's for the great memories!“
“Food is good, but not everything was OMG. The bruschetta was spot on, and the pistachio gnocchi was a tasty surprise and delicious. I ordered the ribeye, one of the most expensive dishes on the menu. Although it was good, it was all steak. There were a couple brussel sprouts and baked gnocchi balls underneath but nothing to speak of, so basically I just had a steak which for the price was not worth it. Really needed more sides and sauce to justify what they're asking for it. My girlfriend had spaghetti and meatballs, which was dry and not nearly enough sauce. Service was good and it's a lovely restaurant, even had a guitar player and singer which made the atmosphere nice. But for the $300 for 4 people (no wine just 2 beers) it was a hard ticket to swallow. I advise knowing what you want and not going high price hoping it's the best. UPDATE: I've changed my review of the service to 5 stars, thanks to the kind staff that picked up my credit card I had left behind and mailed it to me at no charge! I really appreciate it!“
“Holy crap this place is amazing! The food was delicious and every bite had so much flavor in it! I had the gnocchi and I just don't understand how they made it so fluffy! 10/10 would recommend. Our server was also absolutely amazing. He checked up on us often and was really helpful and even made a few jokes.“
“We had a great meal here following a trip to the aquarium. It's so touristy in this area my expectations were low but I was pleasantly surprised! All the seafood was super fresh and tasty. The calamari was nice and crispy. The service was attentive and the view was great! I really enjoyed the seafood pasta. It was rich but the seafood was really fresh and perfectly prepared.“
“La Balena is among the finest restaurants in Carmel. We dine there every time we visit. The Lasagna is the best we have had. On our last visit the cauliflower appetizer was impressive. The staff is attentive and the wine list features some real treasures from Tuscany.“
“My wife and I celebrated our anniversary here and we had a marvelous time. The food was superb and the wine list is incredible. The ambiance is cozy and relaxed, but lively and fun. The highlight of the evening was the service, however. Our server made the evening truly memorable--very engaging, helpful, patient, not to mention hilarious! The table was guaranteed for two hours but we were there for almost four! We couldn't recommend a better place in Carmel to enjoy a fabulous meal.“
“We shared a plate of finocchiana, the carbonara and the lamb with a spinach side. All superior quality. Very pleased. Surprisingly long waits between courses given how few customers were on site. Will still be glad to return on our next visit to Carmel.“
“I have dined at this restaurant many of times in the past years. However it has been a couple years since I've been here. We did have 6:00pm reservation and we were sat promptly and Francisco our server approach our table with enthusiasm and very welcoming greeting. We were there to relax and just have a leisure dinner. However it appears the restaurant did get very busy and we could tell our level of service and the timing of receiving our drinks and food declined. Our server did apologize a few times to let us know they were short handed which create the slow service, which was disappointed. Overall we will be back and hopefully the restaurant will manage the reservations with the staff they have to serve the customers.Parking: Very convenient parking right across the street“
