Came here for breakfast. Overpriced and not very good. No real service. Although we were seated in the restaurant, we got everything in take out dishes. Not nice and creates so much unnecessary trash.

The restaurant was closed. No notice was given to us. When we arrived we had to find another location asap that night.
This is not an OpenTable-level eatablishment. Fine food for hikers. No need to stop if you are passing through.
Though the menu was extensive they had almost none of the choices available. For dinner it was either the pasta dish or a roasted half chicken. We were told that the menu was changing over in one week so they were our of most ingredients. This is unaccaptable. In the morning the coffee cam only with flavored creamer. When I asked for half and half I was told they were out of it. Yet in the store in the same building they were selling half and half. I got the impression that the staff did not care.
We tried to eat while staying here and seven of the 10 items on the main dish portion of the menu were not available. The poor server said something about a menu change. Ridiculous

I'm very surprised this place has a 3.7, it was really good! My friends and I had a hard time finding a place to eat for dinner while we were driving through Big Sur, and we were extremely hungry and decided to eat at Homestead, and it was such a pleasant surprise! I got the hot chicken sandwich and it was tasty, it was the right level of spice (like a medium, wasn't wanting anything super spicy on a vacation day) and the service was fantastic! It's definitely a bit on the pricier side but it's in a lodge and there's really not many places nearby. I will say the onion rings were very mid, not much flavor at all and not worth the up-charge in my opinion.

Overpriced and slow service. We waited 25 minutes for our order to be taken and we paid through the nose for what appeared to be (and tasted like) canned soup and microwaved veggie burger and buffalo cauliflower. I get that this is a remote area and prices may be higher but there are other local options that are more reasonably priced and serve delicious food.
We had a lovely dinner outside on the patio. The waits were a bit long, but that was because they were short-staffed. Our waitstaff was delightful and professional. Food was good.
This restaurant is located inside the national park. Very peaceful and it was great to dine in a natural environment. 👍👍👍

Not that impressed. It was fine but expensive for a fried chicken sando. No wifi and very cold in the restaurant.

We just finished a two-night stay at Big Sur Lodge and ate at Homestead, the onsite restaurant, both nights and think it is just terrific! The wait staff is dedicated and fun and did a great job, despite being short-staffed. The food was excellent and way more creative, attractive, and delicious than one would ever expect from a state park restaurant. The setting was lovely too, with a fireplace inside, outdoor patio tables, and an outdoor bar. Highly recommend if you are in the Big Sur area.
