Bottom line
Post Ranch Inn is a pinnacle of luxury that harmonizes modern elegance with raw natural beauty. It’s ideal for a romantic escape, a reflective retreat, or a wellness-focused getaway for travelers who value privacy, sustainability, and the art of unwinding in one of California’s most stunning coastal landscapes. Highly recommended for anyone seeking an intimate, high-end experience that reconnects you with land, sea, and self.
My husband and I come here whenever we need to escape the Bay Area fog. It’s honestly the most peaceful place on earth. No TVs in the room, just the sound of the ocean and the fireplace. It’s pricey, but for a special anniversary, it’s unbeatable. We left feeling completely recharged.
Was there for Big Sur Food and Wine Festival
Let me start by saying I absolutely adore Post Ranch Inn and its staff. Tim & DJ are always there to promptly take care of and handle what matters, the property is absolutely stunning and it’s clear to me mostly everyone is putting their best foot forward!
However and unfortunately while visiting recently, and upon recounting my past several experiences in the spa specifically - the staff morale there seems low due to poor leadership.
As someone who has worked in workplaces that are toxic, and empathizes with employees that might be going through something similar - I can read between the lines enough to know that the spa employees aren’t being taken care of or guided in the way that they should.
When asking to be booked each time I’ve visited, the concierge (who are ALWAYS amazing!) usually tell me they are “fully booked” but I just know this isn’t true! I’ve also encountered the therapists (who are all, also AMAZING!) running short on supplies.
I just feel something very heavy there, and I can’t quite put my finger on it. But it feels like and my sense is that they aren’t being supported, and that they also might be afraid to speak up due to unsupportive leadership?
It simply doesn’t make SENSE! Post Ranch Inn is BY FAR the BEST resort I’ve ever come across!
I’ve never seen the manager on shift when I visit so haven’t gotten to speak to him or her about this directly - but please check in with your spa employees well being - something seems amiss.
I only leave three stars as I aim to represent my opinion of this company both behind - and in front of - the curtain.
Will be back again soon!

This place is pure magic. The settings, the rooms and amenities, and the staff, were all incredible. Can't wait to go back.
Perfect quiet getaway with amazing sunsets on the deck. Service was impeccable!
The ultimate luxurious getaway. We came for a long weekend, you just can’t beat the views here, it’s so majestic and the smell is so amazing too, I wish they could make a candle of woods and sea.
The service is as 5 star as it gets, they really make you feel like you are their most special guest. Food is amazing! Wine, incredible and chosen for each course.
We slept so well too, can’t wait to go back!
Post Ranch Inn is more than a resort it’s where peace feels personal. The views are breathtaking, the rooms are crafted like sanctuaries, and the service flows with calm precision. Every sunrise hits different up here you can feel God’s work in every detail. Perfect place to disconnect from the noise and reconnect with your purpose. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ #LouieKsUp #LegacyInMotion #PurposeOverPeople
The Post Ranch Inn property is as lovely as you imagine. However, if you feel that something a hotel should provide is a quiet place to sleep, then avoid the Coast House rooms. The rooms themselves are beautiful, but they are built like Holiday Inns from the 1970s - there is NO sound deadening between the rooms. My wife and I were woken up late at night and early in the morning on each night of our stay, and not because our neighbors were rowdy. We may as well have shared a room with them. Guests should expect near perfection at Post Ranch prices. This is far from it.

Very good 💯💯 service
This is a hotel I’ve wanted to visit for years, but unfortunately, now that we finally have the chance, the hotel’s policies make it difficult for families with children. I’m leaving this review so other parents are aware. The FAQ page is misleading/vague. It states that rooms “allow only two people,” which I understand, but if that rule applies even to infants, the hotel should advertise itself as adults only. It would be more transparent to own that status outright. It’s perfectly reasonable if the hotel wishes to remain adults only, but please don’t leave families guessing through vague language about calling reservations to figure out a solution when the solution is to purchase two rooms for 2 adults and an infant.
It was honestly surprising to call and ask about bringing our 6 month old infant along with my husband and me. Yes, she is a person, but she's also a non-mobile potato at this point. We were told we’d have to book two separate rooms and split up, even though our baby would sleep in a pack-and-play we would provide ourselves. I couldn’t understand why this would be necessary, given the excuse seems to be the bed, while there is plenty of room in the room itself.
Normally, I wouldn’t leave a rating like this, but I hope management sees this and updates the FAQ page to clearly state that if you plan to bring even an infant, you’ll be required to pay for two rooms/stay in a specific house. We had hoped to stay for our 10-year wedding anniversary, but we aren’t interested in paying for an extra room just to accommodate a 6 month old baby.
Yes. Not able to stay there tho - but the opportunity to dine at Sierra Mar (staff, venue, dining, food was absolutely perfect) felt like a meal in heaven. What a great experience…
Just amazing! It is so beautiful and relaxing that I didn't want to leave. The view is unbeatable whether your room faced the ocean or the mountains. Our room had mountain view and it was so beautiful - I actually preferred it since you have plenty of ocean views from the restaurant and pool areas. The food was delicious and we enjoyed the tasting menu! The sommelier's wine recommendation was perfect. Such great attention to detail -- from the service to the amenties (they even had a menu of pillows that could be delivered to your room!)
Just an overall perfect, relaxing stay. Wish I didn't have to leave.
Best experience yet. Will be back next year!
