My wife and I go to the Sur House several times a year. This time I was disappointed because now they offer brunch instead of breakfast and then lunch. The brunch is very limited as it relates to lunch items. One salad, two sandwiches. Not what you would expect at a 5 star resort that charges $1500 a night. Service was great, ambience amazing, but they have downgraded the lunch experience.

Phenomenal experience. Food was outstanding. Our server, Leo, was polite and professional. The summer corn risotto was quite possibly the best risotto I've had in my entire life.

This place was amazing! We got there a little late as a local road was out but they understood completely and seated us with a stunning view. The sunset perfect and then the transition from that to the moon coming up wow!! The waiter treated us like old friends and helped us with some amazing choices. When the food came out we were amazed at the flavors and beautiful presentation. Will have to make another trip from Indiana in the future.

Location, location, location! The Sur House has one of most spectacular views of the Pacific Ocean and Big Sur coastal mountains that one can imagine. The menu compliments the location. We could have sat there drinking and eating for hours and been suplimely pleased. Any visit to the Monterey area calls for a visit to Sur House.

Had an amazing time at the Sur House- the host was accommodating and able to seat me right in front with an ocean view. The food and drinks and incredible and you can't beat the ambiance. I've been twice and will definitely make a trip back to Big Sur so I can go to Sur House.

The views are still as stunning as ever, but the service was slow, even though the restaurant wasn't busy. The menu has changed, and while the food was fine, we preferred the previous chef's touch — it felt more inspired. Also worth noting for families with younger kids: there's really nothing for kids aside from pizza

Very disappointing that the outdoor terrace was not in use. We were told it was too windy but when other customers arrived with a dog they were accommodated outdoors on the terrace so difficult to understand why we could not sit outdoors. I suspect management could not be bothered. The menu had also changed since we booked and it provided a limited range of options - none of which were particularly appetising.

I love this restaurant. I was afraid to go thinking I would not fit in since it was located in such a high end hotel, but the staff were friendly and food prices were reasonable, and the diners dressed casually. The food presentation was excellent. The views are phenomenal!
