Super intimate sushi bar overlooking the ocean. Wild Coast Sushi at Treebones is one of our absolute favorite places! They have two omakase seatings a night for around 8 people at a time. Focus is on local fish, and it's super fresh and delicious.During our stay at Treebones last year we had a Friday reservation and ended up loving it so much that we scooped up a rare last minute opening for Saturday as well!

The omakase was incredible! So fresh and delicious and the chefs were personable and knowledgeable. The drink pairings were also amazing and so fun to try different sakes and learn about them!Dietary restrictions: Omakase is fully gluten free

Called to make an enquiry and they were so rude on the phone. Literally did not even want to listen to what I had to say.

This place was worth every cent! The fish service and vibe is top quality. My wife and I just got the tasting and ordered a few drinks to go along with our experience. I would definitely do the drink pairing if I could go back. Chef was on point with everything. The fish melted in my mouth and their were flavor bombs with every bite! Highly recommended!

Incredible dining experience. They only seat eight at a time and we spent almost three hours enjoying incredibly fresh and thoughtful servings. The chef and host know their sushi and sake. The fish often comes from the CA Central Coast. This is omakase, not sushi rolls, so if you’re looking for regular sushi, go elsewhere. The cost is worth it for a one or a kind experience. Know that if you’re staying in Big Sur, it will take an hour to get to Treebones and there’s no cell reception Southof Big Sur, so be prepared. We left with two new friends from our dinner!

This place is magical, Chef Yancy and DJ are both wizards and we were lucky ducks being able to sit at their sushi bar at the Treebones Resort. The bar only seats 8 people which is really wonderful and intimate - we ended up having chats with everyone in there. The sake pairing is a must - the variety of sakes that we were able to try was just mind-blowing and DJ gave such wonderful explanations about each one. Each bite of food/sushi was heavenly. From what I understand they are constantly changing the menu depending on what is fresh, and you can taste the freshness and the care and thought they have put into each bite. This is such a special experience - one that is worth planning and traveling for.

At a 7 o'clock serving time, my wife and I spent one of the finest culinary two hours we have ever experienced at Wild Coast Sushi, an amenity of the Treebones Resort on Route 1 in Big Sur (a region not a town or city). Local fish were presented in traditional Japanese fashion with carefully selected, prized sakis, the quality of which I shall never forget. The cost per person for this repast is exceedingly expensive, but worth it. A once in a lifetime experience. Eight people per sitting sidle up to the sushi bar. Each of the eight receives personal service. Spirit runs high in the group. The sound track adds to the festive mood. The two sushi chefs answer all questions/provide all information. One can't help but applaud.

Wow. No words. Chef Yancy and DJ are the best. If you're looking for an intimate omakase experience this is a great one. The fish is sourced and caught locally, daily. Which means the menu can change daily. It was so cool to see and hear about all the different types of fish. We shared a drink pairing and the sakes were excellent. We definitely left the dinner feeling a healthy buzz! Great conversation with the chefs and other diners. My favorite was the three different cuts of tuna - the fattiest one melts in your mouth. Omg. The music was great too lending to the ambiance. And the views. Spectacular. Can't beat looking out at the ocean and a gorgeous sunset too. Hope to be back!

Unfortunately, the food and the price did not seem to match up. It is understandable that due to the remote nature of the restaurant it might be more expensive, but for $75 a person I did have higher expectations. My husband had to send back his steak because it was over cooked and none of the flavors did much for either of us.

The meal was one of the best I have ever had related to food, atmosphere, presentation and people. Four couples were treated to a beautifully presented meal.

We ate at the lodge and had the Prix Fix menu. It's a small, very casual environment with amazing views of the hillside and ocean. They had a wide selection to fit any dietary preferences and everything was delicious. They offered oysters in addition to the prix fix which were so fresh. The coffee rubbed ribeye was cooked perfectly and the blue cheese mashed potatoes were amazing.

I basically died and went to my version of heaven: Treebones Resort and Wild Coast Sushi. Chef Yancy and DJ were both Godly in their creations. Treebones was incredible but Wild Coast Sushi took the entire experience up another notch. I booked the 5 o'clock seating for last Saturday and hindsight is 20/20... I wish I booked 5 o'clock AND 7 o'clock because I did *NOT* want to leave. My good friend and I opted for the beverage pairing and every bite was subsequently paired with the perfect sip whether it was sake, champagne, or tea, everything matched accordingly. On Saturday, April 23rd, 2022, Chef Yancy prepared an egg custard topped with sea urchin to start us off. The second dish was a scallop and oyster combo topped with chutney and edible flowers. It was this dish that introduced me to REAL wasabi. Full disclosure: I never knew what I was missing and now that I do, I will never go back to 'imposter' wasabi. The real freshly-grated wasabi was bright and green with just a touch of heat. Unlike the overpowering fake wasabi traditionally served, this was delicate enough to let the flavor of each fish shine. Our third dish was a lightly grilled fish served over a small bed of rice. Subsequent courses featured nigiri style sushi; the freshest fish over rice. Salmon and several types of tuna including toro were highlights for me. A unique take on a miso soup came next. A sushi handroll with three types of tuna followed and was yet another favorite course. The finale was a two parter featuring dessert, but not just any dessert. Cake as part of an Omakase sushi menu? I expected innovation here and Chef Yancy did not disappoint. He prepared a fish cake drizzled with delectably sweet honey. The last dish was a thin custard with strawberries. By that time I was fully satisfied by each of the previous dishes and beverage pairings. Seriously the worst part about this experience was the fact I couldn't have more. I have thought about Treebones and Wild Coast more times than I can count over the past week. I'm already looking at my calendar to see when I can return to the beautiful, serene atmosphere. Thank you Yancy and DJ! I'll be back!

Chef Yancy and DJ are the soul of this restaurant. I must say a stay at Treebones without having sushi at Wild Coast would be the biggest regret. The meal starts with a delicious 3 course appetizer to prep you for more deliciousness to come. The sushi matches the raw, spontaneous and unpretentious spirit of this place with low sugar dark vinegar and hearty cuts of fish that's been properly aged and dressed with fresh wasabi and soy sauce. You will leave feeling full and happy. :)
