On 1/1/26 stopped by for breakfast and had chilaquiles with beans with horchata. Everything was excellent and really good flavors and the older man was really respectful and nice even refilled my drink. I went back on 1/2/26 for dinner had a Asada Burrito with horchata and the Burrito was not good. I seen the cook put it in the microwave to get it hot. Should have known when I seen that. Only ate half of it. Also drink wasn't refilled and had to ask for water at the end. Thank you very much. If you want good chilaquiles this would be the spot.

While traveling to and from June Lake, El Ranchito is always a wonderful stop. The food is simply excellent! I’m the only gringo in a Hispanic family, all are in to cooking, Ranchito is still superior. The menudo, shrimp, chilaquiles are truly beautifully prepared. The family run restaurant is a Don’t Miss!

We stopped on here because the Mexican restaurant Nextdoor was too busy, and I’m glad we did! Very friendly people and great food. Absolutely loved the Chile verde and homemade tamales.
Coming again after our next mammoth trip

Vegetarian options available, but not in easy combos, expensive sides.
This restaurant was empty. Customers seemed to be at the mexican restaurant next door.
Wanted a margarita, their info says they have margaritas. THEY DO NOT HAVE REAL MARGARITAS. They use some cheapass wine substitute to make a very bad imitation.
After this discovery I ordered a Pacifico beer. It was room temp, f'n gross.
I can only describe the service as half ass and inept at best.
Steer clear if you're used to better than average Mexican food. This is very subpar.
I ordered the chicken flautas, not bad. If they could pull the other aspects together it might be ok.
I love to get breakfast here! The food is always incredible!!!
Best breakfast on the way to Mammoth.
To be fair, we did purchase the 2 for 1 enchiladas but the photo showed a side of rice a beans which made sense if they’re charging normally $8 for a single enchilada with no meat. Our enchiladas looked more like a horror photo upon pickup and there were definitely zero sides.
In terms of food quality, everything was okay. It did kinda seem like someone took an uncooked corn tortilla and then just tossed some sauce and cheese on top. Very little substance for the price.
The people were kind though if that helps?!
*update - can confirm nothing at all in the enchiladas and they were fairly raw. The temperature worried us given we were there and placed a to-go order that was ready 5 minutes later. Definitely wasn’t warm….
Hoping this was an accidental mess up because other people looked happy with their meals.
