Service was great, but it didn’t taste like Texas BBQ. Not much flavor for the high price that is BBQ. And they were playing Christian praise rock which was a turn off. Willy Nelson or something a bit more Texas roots would have made the experience significantly better.
Good food, good service, good price. Stop there every time I go through Bishop.
Had brisket and tri tip with beans and a loaded potato for sides.
Unfortunately this is probably some of the worst bbq I’ve ever had. The tri tip was incredibly dry but had decent flavor. The brisket was a bit fatty and had almost no flavor. I would have expected the brisket to be smoked better. Unfortunately I’m pretty sure it is steamed with maybe some liquid smoke flavor added and the end result is sad.
The potato was the best thing we ate but that doesn’t say much as baked potatoes are pretty hard to screw up.
The beans were close to good. Only complaint is that they are adding too much brown sugar and the sauce is a bit too much ‘gelled’ if that makes sense.
The kids running the front of house do a good job providing friendly service and the atmosphere is very ‘ironic’ Texas which provided a slice of home in the middle of California.
Classic BBQ joint...no frills just great BBQ
The staff is great and the food DELISH! The meats are super tender and very flavorful. A must stop when in Bishop!
Finally stopped here.
Majorly disappointed.😞
Big Bubba and Longhorn, both $22 each.
Served on a tray with paper, no plate
Meat is ok, but cold.
BBQ Sauces, meh
Cornbread, meh
Mac-N-Cheese, meh
Coleslaw, meh
Beans ok
All food was bland
For the price should be much better!
The pulled pork is just as bland as the Christian rock they play in the restaurant.
This place doesn't seem very welcoming. The girl at the register look like she didn't want to be there. I got the ribs and overall, it wasn't to bad. It's a 50/50 if I go back
The customer service are arrogant, the chicken are burnt and still raw.
When I went to eat my Mac and cheese i noticed that there was a beard hair on it that didn’t look like mine from the color but was the same length so I wasn’t sure if it fell out of a blonder part from myself, so I ask the worker if anyone in the kitchen has white facial hair because I just found one in my Mac and I was assured no one that works there has white facial hair. About 20 mins later a chef comes out of the kitchen with a full white beard and mustache
Restaurantji Recommends
The food was pretty overpriced for how much you got and how bland it was. The bbq sauces were not any good and it was better on its own, even with no salt or seasoning. The Mac was the best part of the meal. It all did come out near instantly too.
The girls working there were really nice but the atmosphere was weird. Lots of unwelcoming signs like, if you order take out do not eat here (weird?) And do not sit down before ordering food, do not save seats. As a non-local it felt very uninviting, if this is a local problem i would try to address it without compromising the atmosphere
Food was Junk, I eat there the other night I got the half chicken not sure how a restaurant that is actual cares about the food they are putting out could even take money from costumers with meat that is un eatable . The chicken was so over cooked i had to throw it away.
I would recommend Mc Donald's before this place at least you can eat that food . Don't waste your money!
After leaving Yosemite Park, my family stopped for lunch. The BBQ was delicious, though the drink selection was limited, I don’t drink much anyway. The service was great, and it wasn’t crowded, but with low staff, there was a bit of a wait. Still, they got my order right, it’s BBQ, not fast food. Remember that.
P.S. forgot to leave a review just found this in my notebook
Great barbecue and sides.
A nice little BBQ place in a blue state. The brisket was on point
