A year later and decided to try this place again. To no surprise, Jill seated us and left a bad taste in our mouths. Once again everyone else was serve with hard menus and we had flimsy plastic ones. Her demeanor is arrogant and she seems to think she can treat people as less than. What a waste. The ambience was great, music is fine, food is great, and all people are great expect for Jill. I hope she quits soon.

On our trip to Borrego Springs, we stopped in for lunch at 1pm on a Saturday. While we were somewhat promptly seated, as there only seemed to be about 5 other tables with parties, our food took about 45 minutes to arrive. We ordered two orders of the fish and chips and the club sandwich with a request for a meat substitution. Once our food finally arrived, our fish and chips were cold, as if they'd been on the line for awhile, and the club sandwich came with the wrong meat subbed in. I eventually flagged down a food runner and told them about the situation. The food runner offered to fix the sandwich, but we were hungry and did not want to wait another 45 minutes for another cold sandwich. We were super disappointed with the wait time and the food mistake, and would have been fine with both issues if we had been given a heads up that they were short staffed, couldn't do the substitution, and that the food would take a while. A few days later, I called and asked to speak with a manager, and they told me the manager was not in that day. I told them that I would have appreciated a heads up about the food taking a little while and the fact that they were obviously short staffed, but they said "they are not allowed to say that", which only added to my frustration. They transferred me to the manager's voicemail, and I left a message gently explaining the situation. They have yet to call me back. Overall an extremely disappointing experience with an inn I've stayed at numerous times before.

Can't really say much about the food, but went in there Saturday night before 6 and was turned away for whatever reason- the hostess wasn't very friendly nor accommodating. She kept saying that there were only 3 servers and things were slow and even after I said we were willing to wait she kept asking if we were staying at the resort. The place did not look crowded at all. And kept recommending a different restaurant. Not sure what that was all about but to turn away any business, without just cause, is bad business. So took our business to Arches instead and was quite happy.

We ate here while staying at Casa del Zorro resort. Prices are high as expected for a resort restaurant, especially in a remote location where they have to truck everything in, but aside from that, we had a great meal: lentil soup, pasta bolognese, stuffed shells, beef short ribs. The rolls were fresh and piping hot, portions were generous, the short ribs were very tender, and everything was well seasoned without being too salty. Ambiance is old school clubby, mellow and not noisy. The food came out quickly and our waitstaff were helpful and courteous. The mixed drinks lacked a little pizzazz but the wine selection is extensive.

Staying at the resort so decided to eat on-site. Waited several minutes in a near empty restaurant and no staff visible before asking the bartender what we had to do to get seated. He left to get someone, who arrived 15 mins later. Poor girl seemed to be working alone - an experienced waitress would be able to manage fine, but she clearly wasn't experienced. Took a long time to get anything. In the end the Food was good, but we won't eat here again.

Recently dined at the Fox Bistro for a birthday dinner and was so pleasantly surprised! Food was delicious and creative, including a lovely, complimentary birthday dessert! Service was friendly, competent and unhurried. Very happy we decided to celebrate there.

We made reservations and the woman on the phone told us 6:30 was our best option as the hotel was packed. I think there were 4 other tables there, so obviously they were short staffed. We ordered a bottle of Matua, in which they charge a whopping $56 for a wine that costs $9 for a bottle! I had the stuffed shells, they were okay, but not worth $26. We ate there again the second evening of our stay as there is no where else to eat. We chose to order the food to go. My husband and I ordered the risotto, but all we got was some plain white rice! I called to ask if there was a mix up and the woman said that is all they had. Seriously??? $26 for rice??? I was hoping the second night would be better, but it was far worse. We will definitely never be back.

So disappointed. The menu looked great, hi-end, so we were expecting an excellent dining experience. Instead, we received food that was on par with a greasy spoon dump. My boyfriend’s entree was served within 5 minutes of ordering, mine came about 20 minutes later. Too bad the server didn’t think to coordinate the two plates. We visit Borrego Springs often, but will not waste our money here again :(

Service was abysmal. We sat watching staff go back and forth with no clear purpose. We waited 15 minutes for water and seemed like an eternity before we were able to order. The food was uneven. Rack of Lamb was very good but the sides were terrible. Potatoes were cold and tasted like cheap instant potatoes. The carrots were hard. The shrimp scampi was meager with far too much garlic. The pasta was homemade and very good. Again service was lacking. We requested the bus boy find our server to bring us the check and we waited. She dropped the check and disappeared and we waited. We finally decided to charge the meal to the room and left, never to return
