While waiting for my wife to be finished with her appointment, I needed a snack to satisfy my sweettooth. So I used my trusty Yelp app to search for donut shops in the area. Dot & Dough - Brea popped up, and it was only 2 miles away from where I was. So off I went to check them out. Dot & Dough is located in a busy strip mall. Luckily I snagged a parking spot fairly close. The shop is cute with a few tables to dine at, and a small display case. To my surprise, they do not make classic American style donuts. Nope, they make mochi donuts which I am not too fond of. Fortunately, though, they do make Malasadas which I am a fan of. I was told from the friendly young lady assisting me that it takes about 20 minutes to prepare the Malasadas. I did not mind cause I still had an hour to kill before picking up my lovely wifey. Went ahead and ordered 3 different Malasadas. Vanilla Malasada was hot and fresh. It was packed with vanilla cream, and it tasted delicious. Highly recommend! Classic Malasada tasted delicious too! No filling needed for their malasadas! I liked this even better than the Vanilla Malasada! Apple Pie Malasada was my favorite of the three. It was also packed with filling! So much so that it was just oozing out with every bite I took. I must have looked like a total slob while eating it at their shop. Did not care cause they tasted GREAT!!!! Have to say that these were the BEST Malasadas that I've ever eaten on the mainland! Maybe because I ate them when they were warm and fresh was the reason they tasted so damn good. Either way, I highly recommend trying the Malasadas at Dot & Dough!

This place is so cute! Mochi doughnuts were great and maladies were yum too. Tons of filling. Make sure you eat them warm...we waited and thought they would have been better eaten there. The person at the counter was super nice while she waited for us to decide.

I really like their donuts. The best Japanese style donut in the area!!! It's very chewy just how I like it and no old oil taste from frying

Fresh malasadas? Yes please! They were delicious and cooked to order. I loved both the cinnamon sugar and Belgian chocolate ones. The strawberry pocky and homer chocolate mochi donuts were perfect. I was greeted with a smile and left with some fresh, yummy treats. I'll definitely be back to try more flavors. So happy to have one in Brea! Cute, store in a great location with lots of parking and close to the 57 fwy and the Brea Mall.Parking: Lots of parking in a newly remodeled shopping center.

After dining at the Fogo de Chao in the same shopping center, we headed here to try out this new little dessert hot spot. Upon getting inside, I realized this might not be my jam. Only mixed coffee drinks and not black coffee, mochi donuts, malasadas made fresh to order...that took 20 minutes. I thought I might be striking out here. But, the guy at the front said the malasadas took more like 8 minutes to make, not 20, so we decided to give it a whirl. I ordered a hot Americano and a vanilla filled malasada. If you've never had a malasada, think of one of the crunchy cream puffs from Beard Papa. Now imagine that with filling that is a bit more runny, and that the whole thing was made fresh. I feel like that should give you a pretty good mental image of what it's like. The runny filling makes it a very messy snack, but this is also pretty close to the pinnacle of what a malasada would be like, warm, fresh, and sweet. The coffee was office-grade brown water. ~$9 for a fresh malasada and the cup of coffee. The concept of fresh-made malasadas is pretty nice, but from a business standpoint, I'd recommend to the owner to have some ready-made malasadas on hand for people who want stuff to go.

Their mochi donuts are so good and chewy! We loved the strawberry and matcha flavors the best. The gal helping us was super sweet too.

Such a cute place! Bomb donuts and friendly service. We tried the strawberry mochi, milk and cereal mochi, and filled Belgium chocolate. The chocolate was delicious; not too sweet, but also perfectly rich. They also give discounts for first responders and teachers! Wish I brought my ID lol
