We went to our first pop-up since the storefront closed, and unfortunately the experience was very different from the past. Normally, we order three shaved ices that come out to about $22 before tip. My youngest has an eating disability, so we’ve always ordered his plain—just ice without syrup—which used to cost $2 in the store.
At the pop-up, we were told that a plain shaved ice would now cost $10. I even explained our situation, but was told that because it was a pop-up with limited ice, they had to charge full price. I would have understood if it was $5, but charging the same as a full flavored shaved ice felt unreasonable.
On top of that, the overall guest service didn’t feel the same. What once felt like a warm, family-style welcome now felt more transactional, which was disappointing given the community feel that made Aloha Ice so special.
In the end, I only ordered for my kids because I didn’t want to tell my son no, but it was not the experience we’ve come to expect. We’ve supported Aloha Ice for years, even showing up on their last storefront day and donating to support them during their transition, so it was disheartening to see the shift.

The ice is so good: creamy and smooth!
However, it was way too hot in the shop, on a hot day (high 99°F), so they need better AC or at least some fans. We came on a Wednesday and still waited quite a while for the ice. Would've been ok if it wasn't so hot.

Silky finely shaved ice holds the flavor throughout till the end. I lived in Hawaii for 5 years, and this rivals the best from the islands. And customer service is exceptionally good and friendly.

I had the most amazing experience working with Aloha Ice for my daughter’s first birthday! I knew I wanted something special and unique for dessert, and Rachelle was so wonderful to work with. I had the grand idea of using shave ice toppers with my daughter’s face on it, and Rachelle worked with me and helped me pick out the toppers that would work best with their shave ice. We probably exchanged over 20+ emails, but every time, she was so timely and helpful with her responses. She even catered the menu to our ONE happy baby theme!!
The day of the party, they arrived 30 min prior to their service, and it was definitely the highlight to our party!! Rachelle mentioned that some of our guests even went back for THIRDS! Likely because their shave ice is THAT GOOD! I honestly took a bit of a gamble because I had not tried Aloha Ice before booking them for our event...but they came highly recommended from my best friend's MIL. Definitely no regrets and will book them again in a heartbeat!!!! Thank you Rachelle and her wonderful team for making my daughter's first birthday such a success. They were so thoughtful to have sent me photos of our party afterwards too! Incredible people and incredible shave ice!!!
