Great family-run shop filled with traditional bento. By this time, we've tried at least half of the menu and everything is great.Egg salad or katsu sandos are great if you want something simple. But sets of roast beef bowls or chicken nanban are also great. Gyudon or sets with multiple courses if you were really hungry. There's also tempura and takoyaki. So many different options.Call ahead and order if you are short on time. Parking in the lot is fairly easy. Service is great.

Jake and Tetsuko,We had another great meal at your place again tonight. I was raised in Cypress by Japanese parents and your food reminds me of home. That is the highest compliment a chef could receive as I love cooking as well. Thank you for bringing us together over fantastic food.Ohashi San

I have to say this is such amazing quality! I grew up going to a Japanese temple and eating the traditional foods. This reminds me of those memories. It's very authentic and just delicious. Please give them a try.

Chicken Nanban is some of the best fried chicken I've ever had. Japanese Style Burger Patty and Pork Cutlet also very good. This is my new local favorite. Staff is also friendly and hospitable.

I ordered the egg sandwich and mackerel for $25 including tip.Egg (maybe not salad) SandwichIt has all the components of egg salad: mayo, egg, something crunchy for texture. It's not made with hard boiled eggs like a traditional egg salad, it is made with scrambled eggs (between a soft and regular scramble) and contains cucumber and onion for crunch and flavor. I am sure there are other components, but those were the main players I found. Great sandwich, not at all what I was expecting.Mackerel with RiceI don't eat a lot of rice, but I would say that the portion is more than enough to accompany the mackerel. Inside there is also seaweed, picked veggies, tamago, fish cake and potato salad. The fish is well seasoned, I didn't need to add anything to it. It was also moist and flaky. I would definitely come back again, especially to try different things.

Staff was friendly. Food smelt amazing. Appetizing dishes.I ordered the assorted bento & everything was delicious! I’m the type of person that needs a diverse arrangement of flavors while eating & this meal satisfied every tastebud. The variety is different from typical LA/OC Japanese restaurants where they serve California rolls & teriyaki chicken, which is greatly appreciated. Every bite of my dinner was savored! 10/10 & I’ll be back.

**3.5 stars**I was in the mood for some healthy comfort food and stumbled upon Neighborhood Bento! Walking in, everything felt so homey and warm. Service was super quick and nice. They have a few tables inside and it seemed like a great lunch spot. I opted for the Oyako Don which featured chicken, egg, and onion over rice. They also included some pickles which are always a win! I really wanted to love this spot, but it fell just a little short. While everything tasted freshly made with quality ingredients, it was a tad too bland for my taste. It kind of just felt like I was eating textures. Maybe it was just the item that I ordered or that I visited on an off day. Will definitely be back to try out a few of their other options!

Stopped by after the gym since my wife and I wanted something quick to eat and we always pass by this place. A good variety of bento to choose from and we opted for the saba and pork katsu. Both dishes were cooked well and I liked the variety of sides the bento came with, which included white rice, potato salad, tamago, and an assortment of vegetables. The bentos were filling post-workout so we definitely have to check out the other ones next time!

Came here with a last minute dinner request from my husband. I ordered the mackerel and he ordered the katsu. Both were flavorful, not too salty, and went very well with the rice! The egg was perfectly fluffy and complemented the meal well! I was very satisfied at the end and will definitely return for more!
