What a monumental day in my child's life, a fifth birthday should be special. My boy is in his cowboy phase, I was there too at one point. I thought what better place to take him than THE knotts barry farm. My goal today, was for him to experience the magic Knott's has to offer, but no. We stopped by Calico Tater Bites as we roamed around the park, and WOW... the wait? ridiculous even worse, once we got a taste of those rancid taters. The ranch was sick, there were CHUNKS. INSIDE. THE RANCH. I even checked by asking if i could have another ranch, because I thought maybe they handed me blue cheese. Nope. Ranch. Full of Chunks. I took our trays and threw them all away. I was not about to allow my family to become ill again. If you want to enjoy your day at the park, stay away.

This is not food. It is indescribably disgusting sludge. Let me paint you a quick picture. You receive a small box about the size of a hard ack book. At the bottom is a thick layer of dry oil. Then there is a layer of barely booked wish-they-were-costco tots. Then a handful of fatty, chewy, heart-attack level salty "pastrami". Then it goes from bad dream to full on nightmare. The next layer is a thick, mucusy white sludge, that might be cheese, or insulation, or melted salt lick. It tastes like death. Then, we have commercial pickle relish because....why? And finally to top off this garbage pile is a purple slash of boyenberry "mustard". Eff this dish, eff this place. This is mouth rape.

If you're torn between the BBQ pulled pork tater tots and the buffalo chicken tater tots, definitely opt for the BBQ pulled pork – it's a winner!The BBQ pulled pork tots were an absolute delight – sweet, generously loaded with meat, and worth every penny of the $15 price tag. Even our little ones, aged 2 and 6, couldn't get enough of them.However, the buffalo chicken tots were a bit of a miss. They turned out to be too spicy for the kids, and the popcorn chicken seemed like it was straight out of a freezer bag – overly breaded and lacking in flavor.One thing's for sure, if you're looking for a hearty meal that'll leave you feeling satisfied, these dishes won't disappoint. They're heavy on the stomach, but in the best way possible.

It's a theme park, but these tots were fire, and we got lucky there was no one in line worth it if you have the dining pass but there was a lot for the outrageous price and it was really tasty.

I am a Knott's passholder and season food passholder . This has to be hands down the most flavorless place. I dont know how they could mess up Tater Tots but they did. If you come here, bring your own seasoning. Better yet, walk to Firehouse BBQ and ask to use their seasoning..... Nothing here has any seasoning or flavor!!!! I got the pastrami tots and then the french onion brisket tater tots. Did not know pastrami nor brisket could have ZERO taste.

We were about halfway through our Knott's Berry Farm day and were feeling a little peckish when we stumbled upon Calico Tater Bites. I'm always up for tater tots and when I saw that they had something called French Onion Beef Dip Tater Tots, I was 100% on board. (After all, French Onion Soup is still one of my all-time favorite dishes.) This is one tasty concoction. I wouldn't necessarily say it reminded me too much of French Onion Soup, but it's nevertheless a very enjoyable, delicious dish. It's been loaded with big chunks of tender beef, to the extent that it almost felt like there was more beef than tots (which is definitely not a bad thing). The ample gravy and cheese tie the whole thing together and I could've easily inhaled another four of these things.

I want to like this place more. I really do. It's hard to when they seem to be unprepared for large crowds. The last 2 times that I've gone, they were either out of the pulled pork or they have an ungodly wait time for the seasonal French Onion Tater Tots. I'm not going to lie- those are REALLY GOOD!!! Everyone seems to think so. Because of that, their wait times are long. They run out fast and I'm not sure why it takes them so long to cook it. I can understand that the food needs to be a certain temperature. A bigger batch may need to be made? I hope they can prepare better in the future.

We tried the limited-time French Onion Tater Bites at Calico Tater Bites in Knott's Berry Farm, and while i wish the tots held together better, the overall flavor was fantastic. I'm already looking forward to returning and exploring the rest of their intriguing menu. An added bonus is that this snack shop accepts the all season dining pass, allowing you to substitute a meal with these delicious tater tots. The portion size was generous so you might be fine getting away with an order of tots instead of a meal at restaurant. It's a walk up window for order and pick up. Ingredients are ready-made so everything moves rather quickly.
