After helping my dad move some stuff he recommended this katsu joint. Located in a strip mall next to a Korean market there is not much parking. This quaint little joint serves up some good katsu. Ordered a spicy katsu with soba and an unagi bowl. The breading/batter is a good color and the crunchiness is great. The katsu is not too chewy and you don't get a mouthful of oil. The spicy katsu is actually regular katsu with a spicy sauce. Nevertheless it was a good meal. My dad liked his unagi bowl especially because compared to the restaurant next door they don't charge $50 for it. Nice.

This place used to be called brown Katsu, not sure why the name changed as the menu items seem to be exactly the same. It's a cute cozy little place in Zion market plaza. Really love their Katsu and have brought others here to try and they all commented how good the Katsu here is too. Crispy and thin, but not too thin. Love the cream soup that comes with the meals too. I like how they offer an additional , complimentary bowl to my kid (who I share my meal with as he doesn't eat a lot). Salad and dressing is typical and yummy and I always love their cubed radish kimchi. Katsu sauce is a bit unique but yummy... seems more ketchupy (?). Prefer the taste of this place over YOKO, which is in the plaza down the street, but quantity is less. I noticed past couple times that their portions seemed smaller. Tiny scoop of white rice and just one slab of chicken, which I'm assuming is probably half a chicken breast (filleted and pounded thin) :(. I know times are tough these days, but I feel like rice is pretty cheap where it doesn't need to be skimped on-was literally prob an ice cream scooped size. Overall, tasty but you may leave still feeling a tad hungry. Order a combo meal or some Additional sides and check in for free soda :)

It was my first time trying this place and I think it's okay. I had gotten the spicy donkatsu and it was nothing special besides their sauce. Their breading is a lot different from yoko but I think I would prefer yoko since it's the same price for donkatsu at both places. Except this place has a bit more variety for their katsu.

Katsu was crispy, sauce was perfect! Only downside we experienced was that they asked us to leave 5 minutes before their closing time.

Delicious pork katsu, fish katsu, soba noodles, and ddukbokki! The sweet potato cheese katsu is to die for! Meals come with rice, salad, katsu gravy, and the best cream corn soup appetizer! Their combos are a great deal and service is always impeccable. Already my 2nd time in two weeks! Highly recommend!

I'm not big on Katsu or fried food in general but once in awhile I do crave a good katsu. The only one's I've tried were at Wako. One day my mom brought some katsu home from Joon and said it was the best and that I had to try it. We had recently moved to the Oc area and was glad to know Joon was close by so went for lunch. It's located inside a plaza with ample parking. The inside is small but cozy and clean. They specialize in Katsu so it's a restaurant that has just that instead of a bunch of things on the menu. They had some combo and soba noodles as well. All katsu is served with soup to begin with. At first the soup looked and tasted a bit like clam chowder but the more you eat it, it has a deeper umami flavor with an aftertaste of mushrooms. The soup was very good, not too sweet or heavy and the lady was nice to bring us another small serving. _Pork Katsu ($13.95) All menu comes with a soup. Served with rice, cabbage salad, and pickled side dish. What stands out for me with the katsu here, is that the batter is thin and for being fried it's not too heavy. You can also tell they clean out the frying oil pan as it tastes clean and fresh without having that heavy drench oil aftertaste. The pork itself is juicy and well flavored. The best part is also the dipping sauce. I'm not a fan of Wako sauce as it's a bit to tart and overpowering for me. The sauce at Joon is very light and a bit sweet, a bit of a tomato sauce like texture. Also served with rice and cabbage salad with dressing on the side. The price is great for the quality and quantity. If you are a katsu fan, definitely check Joon out.

Clean Decent wait for food Quality is great Ordered 2 combos of katsu & udon and curry chicken katsu I don't really like homemade katsu sauce, but theirs is good! I was very pleased. The best I have tried in my life. Udon broth was very refreshing as well. The mushrooms and bell peppers were good. Didn't think I would like the taste of the two in my udon, but that was not the case here. Definitely coming back. The owner was very sweet. Thank you for the tasty food and great customer service!

Such a yummy lunch! I ordered delivery and it came with extras I didn't know it came with. The katsu box came with TWO dipping sauces (curry and some sort of gravy like katsu sauce). Katsu was good with the right amount if breading and nice crunch. SOUP: It also came with a white cream based soup. It didn't taste like clam chowder or mushroom soup. Not sure what soup it was but it didn't have much of a taste. (Possibly was a potatoe soup?) SALAD: cabbage, red cabbage, tomatoes, and, corn with thousand island..simple yet pretty good! BANCHAN: small container of mini cubed radish kimchi, pickled jalenpenos and cabbage UNAGi BOWL: two very well seasoned unagi pieces over a bed of rice. The was enough to make two meals. Online order was $24.00..a bit steep for lunch but it was good. It came with a clear based soup...maybe miso or dried pollock and two small banchan sides. If you're craving Korean/japanese style katsu, thus will hit the spot.

Casual & cozy spot for katsu and udon/soba! I was craving something light so I had soba noodles and it hit the spot. The employees were very friendly and my food came out in a speedy manner. There was plenty of seating inside and it was great for a quick bite :) would definitely recommend! You also get a free soda if you check in.

Joon Katsu is a very chill asian restaurant to try when you're at Buena Park. The restaurant offers katsus, udon, soba noodles, a combination of those, and more!! Plus, if you check in you can redeem a free soda from their pretty cool cola cooler. The food tastes good and service is rather quick as its a small restaurant so you will have all the attention you require for. They have side dishes as well!! My friends loves the katsu and I love the udon!! Overall, its worth a try!!

I dined in at Joon Katsu bc my mom told me the place was under new ownership. I'm glad I did. I got my usual Korean Hambak steak, which was a super filling meal. The sauce for the steak changed under the new ownership and is less intense now but still good food took around 20 min to come out and noticed there were several pick up orders during my time there. Would recommend!

Service is very good but what I found slightly disappointing is the katsu is not thick but average.. I really wish they’re cut of meat should be a bit thicker.
