It's good. Kind of weird that they call it beef gyukatsu. The sets are actually really nice here, at least conceptually . They give you a little grill to cook your food if you get the gyukatsu. Their gyoza and takoyaki were all forgettable. Crispy gyoza bo were near crispy enough. The place itself is on the more expensive end. The service here was pretty tepid and ultimately what decided whether I got the premium or regular gyukatsu set. Our table was still a bit sticky but they keep it clean besides that. Additionally, the sets weren't really exciting when a few of the items on the sets are sauce.

Tried the pork katsu sando and the curry egg rice, both were amazing! The pork was so crispy and tender, and it had a really nice mustard that balanced the flavors really nicely. The curry was yummy to dip the sando into.

I was in need of a dinner place while I was around the Diamond Bar / Rowland Heights area and Yelp give me Kobe Gyukatsu on its list of possibilities. I was sold on their menu items and made my way there for a Saturday dinner right before 6pm. We must have beat the dinner rush at this sweet spot of timing as there was only a handful other tables so far. After we got settled into our meal, the entire place started filling up.

We ordered an appetizer (kushiyaki for $8.95) and two sets (beef cutlet set for $25.95 and curry pork cutlet for $18.95). The appetizer was good, but the standouts were for sure the sets we ordered. I love how I can control how done I want my beef to be. The two dipping sauces for the beef set gave it a nice kick too! The pork cutlet was crispy and lean. I enjoyed dipping the cutlet in the curry and doing the same for the beef as well! Each set had its own mini stove for cooking, which makes for a hot meal but also potential for you to hit the black surface and possibly get a slight burn. Just be careful when you are navigating the stove (or two like we were!) as you cook and reach across to grab other items.

Because of the cooking apparatus, you will smell afterwards so also plan accordingly. I was so stuffed afterwards and appreciate the large plaza that I could roam around while digesting my meal.

Parking is very easy here, lots and lots of spots!

Came here on a Saturday evening and only one there. People might be sleeping on this place. The premium gyukatsu set was amazing. It comes rare with a hot stone to cook to your desired doneness and comes with salt a wasabi sauce and a soy sauce for dipping. The meat was super tender and the whole experience was amazing. Can't wait to return and get it again.

Have a good habit of checking your bill.
While food is good, it pays to check your bill. Surprised why we were charged an automatic 18% for a party of 5. Based on previous dining experience, this 18% is based on a party of 6 or over. So be vigilant on what your paying.

My reply to the restaurant's comment:
We dined in during lunch (around 1ish in the afternoon) at Rowland Heights branch, Sep 14, 2025.

A few colleagues and I stopped by here to enjoy dinner. It was a challenge to locate, but it is right next to the Yoghurtland. I ordered the pork cutlet set, which had two full pork cutlets (huge and ample), shredded lettuce salad, miso soup, Japanese style pickled vegetables, and sauce. So for me, I asked for salt, it needed it. And the pork was good, but dry and not juicy. My colleagues ordered the Beef Gyukatsu, they loved it. It is a novelty to cook the beef to your liking. It was flavorful and crispy in all the right places. My other friend ordered the spicy ramen. He said it was good, but a little spicy for him. I tried it and loved it.

The service was impeccable. The make server, whom I assume was the son of the owner, was great. Very helpful, very attentive and just lovely. I would return just for him. He was so nice. Overall I would return, now that I know where it is.

I attempted speak Japanese to the server, but he responded in English. I know my accent isn’t bad, but I overheard them speaking Korean. So when the server came back, I thanked him in Korean and he immediately responded. No worries, but not authentically Japanese.

This restaurant is located inside a strip mall with a shared parking lot. Parking isn’t that big but enough to fill all the guests thats going to different places. If you drive on colima, you can see the restaurant because the storefront faces Colima.

This is a place known for Gyukatsu but it has other food as well such as udon and ramen. I ordered a beef combo ( it has salad, miso soup, cheese corn and a couple sauces ) and a ramen.

The Gyukatsu is decent and you cannot get it without the combo. I would give it a 4 star but unfortunately the ramen is below average. I would give it a 2.5 to 3 star. Maybe it’s because the restaurant is specialized in Gyukatsu so they didn’t put too much effort into other food. The ramen is just regular ramen where I can cook myself.

The service is good and the server is friendly. The price tends to be on the expensive end around $30 something for the Gyukatsu combo but I don’t think it tastes that good for it to be worth $35-40.

Average out I would say this is a 3.5 - 4 star restaurant but since I love the cleanliness and friendly service, I’ll give it a 4 star.

Oh, let me tell you about the absolute flavor explosion I had at Kobe Gyukatsu last Friday at 19755 Colima Rd, Rowland Heights, CA 91748! This place is a meat lover’s paradise, serving up gyukatsu so tender and juicy it practically melts in your mouth. Every bite of that perfectly breaded, golden-crisp katsu was a symphony of savory goodness, paired with fresh, vibrant sides that made my taste buds do a happy dance. The vibe is cozy and inviting, buzzing with energy, making it the ultimate spot to dive into a plate of pure deliciousness. Trust me, this is the kind of food that leaves you dreaming about your next visit!

Now, while the food was a total knockout, the service could use a little pep in its step. Don’t get me wrong—the staff were friendly, but it felt like they were juggling a bit too much, and we were left waiting longer than we’d hoped. A smidge more attentiveness would’ve made the experience flawless, but honestly, the mouthwatering katsu was so good it stole the show! If you’re craving a meal that’s a 10/10 on flavor and don’t mind a tiny wait, Kobe Gyukatsu is your spot. I’m already counting down the days to my next plate of that juicy, crispy heaven!

We love the gyukatsu when we had in Japan. So when we found out there is a gyukatsu at Rowland Heights, we were so excited to give it a try. But the gyukatsu we had here at Kobe Gyukatsu is very different than the ones in Japan. The beef is marinated with Korean sauce and we were surprised. But the crunchy parts is not too good, maybe add some panko will be great. And compare to the gyukatsu in Japan, here is definitely too pricey.

Worst experience ever, will never come back again, worst service I’ve ever had, servers treated customer unfairly, seems extremely not happy with helping customer and take orders. Food is disgusting as well, try this place and you will never come back.

Outstanding everything!

I was pretty surprised. I liked the premium gyukatsu a lot. The udon was good too. I’m a fan. Doesn’t taste exactly like the ones in Japan but it was still good.
