I ’ve struggled with whether to write this review because I genuinely love Masis Bakery’s pastries—especially the bird milk pastry, which is the reason I’ve returned so many times. The quality of the baked goods is excellent, and that makes this experience all the more disappointing.
Unfortunately, nearly every time I visit, I am made to feel uncomfortable and unwelcome by the staff. There is a consistent sense that I am not supposed to be there ordering from them. The interactions are cold, dismissive, and at times openly uncomfortable. Over time, this has led me to significantly reduce how often I visit, which is painful because I truly enjoy the food. Whether intentional or not, the result is the same: a loyal customer pushed away.
No patron should feel discriminated against or made to feel out of place because of the color of their skin or their nationality. Businesses serve the public, and with that comes a responsibility to treat all customers with basic dignity and respect.
My hope in writing this is not to tear down a local business, but to encourage reflection and growth. Burbank is a diverse city, and its businesses should reflect openness to cultural exchange rather than prejudice toward customers of color. I sincerely hope Masis Bakery takes this feedback seriously so that everyone can enjoy their excellent pastries in an environment that feels welcoming to all.
I want to add an update based on my visit today.
At approximately 11:00 a.m., I ordered four bird milk pastries to take home and share with my family. They no longer feel comfortable visiting the shop themselves, but still enjoy the pastries. Of the four pastries I received, three were clearly fresh, while one appeared noticeably older and stale by comparison. The difference was obvious.
This was a very distasteful business gesture and reinforced the discomfort I’ve consistently felt as a customer here. When someone is purchasing multiple items at full price, it is reasonable to expect consistent quality across the order. This experience felt careless at best and dismissive at worst.
It’s unfortunate, because I truly enjoy Masis Bakery’s pastries. However, after repeated uncomfortable interactions and now this experience, I don’t believe I will be returning. No customer should feel unwelcome or receive lesser treatment when supporting a local business

I wish I could give zero stars for this disaster of a birthday cake. I ordered a mocha-flavored cake for a special birthday — you know, rich, creamy, that perfect blend of mocha? What we got was NOTHING like that.
First of all, it wasn’t mocha. It was straight-up bitter coffee — no balance, no sweetness, just like someone dumped espresso grounds into whipped cream and called it a day. And speaking of the cream — it wasn’t fresh, it wasn’t light… it was frozen solid. Like, we needed a steak knife to cut through the thing.
Who serves a birthday cake that’s basically an ice block with coffee flavor? By the time it defrosted, the cream had separated and the texture was gross. Guests literally left the frosting on their plates.
We paid premium pricing for what felt like a forgotten freezer experiment. The birthday was still special — but the cake? A complete letdown. Never again

Great food and kind staff. The young girl was able to tell we had not been there before and gave us a tour of the food options. Super good food and super kind people. I also do not speak the language and had no problems getting waited on.

This cute little bakery was amazing! The worker was so sweet and explained what everything was for us, there were so many delicious options to choose from, and everything that we got was delicious. I’ll definitely be coming back next time I’m in this part of California.

I stood in line in this very tight compact bakery for no less then 20 minutes. Staff was very rude, continuously ignored me. People would walk in the door, skip the line, but they spoke the same language as the staff so they were immediately helped. I do not speak that language, therefore, I was not waited on. I would highly recommend taking your business elsewhere.
They have great Armenian pastries and gata .. prices are a little high but worth the quality of pastries..

Got a custom chocolate and hazelnut cake for my brother's graduation, and it was PERFECT. The texture, the balance of sweetness, and even the design- they nailed every detail. Customer service was super kind and helpful too. Can't wait for the next occasion to order again.

I’m extremely disappointed with the service I received. I ordered a cake for a surprise Bachelorette party, and the design was completely different from what I expected. My friend picked up the cake without knowing the design, but I trusted that what I ordered would be delivered as requested. Instead, I received something far simpler and not at all what we had planned for this special event. There was no time to fix the issue, and we had to just make do with taking pictures. This was incredibly frustrating and took away from the celebration. I expect much better attention to detail and service, especially for such important occasions. The white cake is what I got. The other one with flowers on top was my order.
