STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE! I am genuinely stunned by what I experienced at this Pollo Campero and I feel obligated to warn anyone considering eating here.
I went in to pick up chicken for my kids. As soon as I got into my car a horrifying sour rotten smell filled the entire vehicle. I have never smelled anything like that coming from chicken in my life and it immediately made me worry about what I was just going to bring home to my kids.
Before calling the restaurant I even took a small bite of one piece of chicken to understand what was going on. The piece I tasted was strangely wet in a way that did not feel right especially considering I had bought the meal less than twenty minutes before.
Shocked and confused I pulled over and called the restaurant immediately. I explained the smell and the wet texture to Leslie the manager. Instead of concern care or basic professionalism she told me that everything I described was normal. Anyone who has eaten properly prepared chicken knows nothing about what I experienced was normal and hearing a manager dismiss it so casually was alarming.
After a long back and forth she finally agreed to refund my meal. What happened next was the part that truly disturbed me. When I returned the chicken I watched her place the foul smelling pieces back on the counter as if they were fine to give to another customer. Even the piece I had taken a bite from was placed right back out in the open. I told her that this felt incredibly unsafe especially because my own family could have eaten it and she still showed no concern at all. She simply ended the conversation and told me we were done.
I left feeling sick not just from the smell and the bite I had taken but from the complete disregard for customer safety. I went to this restaurant specifically to support a Central American owned business out of pride and connection and instead I walked away heartbroken and honestly scared for whoever might receive that same chicken next.
Based on my experience I would strongly caution anyone from eating here. No customer should ever be treated this way and no family should ever have to question the safety of the food they bring home.
