I recently visited The New Deal Restaurant, and unfortunately, it wasn't a great experience. On Sunday, the restaurant was quite full, and both the service and the food were disappointing.
After we were seated, it took about 5-7 minutes for a waiter to approach our table. Later, we wanted to modify a few items in our order, but we couldn't get the attention of any staff. When our food finally arrived, the chicken sandwich was very dry and not well presented.
Overall, it wasn't a pleasant visit. There are many other excellent places to try on Magnolia Blvd now.

The dishes we had were so well done and so well thought in terms of healthy choices.

Great experience! Had lunch Friday, and went back for brunch on Sunday. We're definitely going to make this a regular spot!

I stopped in to eat and the dining experience was not what we expected. There was only one waitress at lunchtime-it was around 12:15pm, and our food was mediocre.
I contacted the manager Joe about it and he said that he would call me back but did not.
We ordered the skirt steak salad and the Brussels sprouts. The skirt steak was overcooked and hard. We specifically ordered this despite the bad reviews that said that the steak was overcooked, and asked our waitress Jada to make sure that the steak wasn’t overcooked.
I ordered the Brussel sprouts and requested the Barrata on the side and to substitute the jalapeño sauce with creamy Italian dressing and the Greek dressing (that Jada said they had) for the side. The photo I saw of the Brussel Sprouts showed the cheese melted and spread on top of the Brussel sprouts, so I figured that I could dip my Brussel sprouts in the cheese.
I let the waitress know that we were in a hurry when we were seated, and Joe as well and when we arrived at close to 12:15pm and he assured us that it would be fast. As did our waitress. We didn’t get served until around 1:20pm. By the time we were served we had to let them know to box it to go. We had a long drive ahead of us, 50 miles, and needed to be there by 2pm.
When we got in my car and opened our containers that’s when we discovered the inedible steak and my side of cheese was refrigerator cold and my dressing was the jalapeño side and the creamy Italian.
The food definitely did not live up to my expectations.
Joe offered for us to get refunded by coming back or remaking, but as I explained, we needed to be 50 miles away in 30 minutes at that point and we were already on the freeway.
Additionally, Joe told me that the cheese for the Brussel sprouts is never melted, they don’t have Greek dressing, and seemed skeptical that the steak was overcooked. I took photos. My friend described the steak as tasting like it had already been pre-cooked, not made to order, and as if it had been sitting out for a while. It was a very disappointing experience.
We were rather hungry and excited to try something new and different. I had convinced my friend to not go to the Poke place next door and to try this restaurant-especially when I asked how long to be served and was told it wouldn’t be long.
Joe assured me he would call me back in the afternoon when he had time, but didn’t. When I called back around 6pm, Molly told me that he was already gone and that there was no manager working at the time. She stated that Joe wouldn’t be back to work again until Wednesday. I find it even more upsetting to be told by Joe that he would do something and he didn’t follow through.
I work hard for my money, just as everyone does nowadays, and when I spend it, I like to get what I pay for. I did not get what I paid for.

I came in to have a good time with friends, and my friends were sitting by the door. it was a colder day, so I tried to close the door. After a first try, I realized that there was a door stopper, and the manager (this lady with platinum bangs) started screaming from across the restaurant, full of patrons, to make me stop trying to close the door. it was really embarrassing to me as a client. she then came to the door and told me to not touch anything, and told me to sit down. it really tainted a night that was supposed to be a good celebration of friends in a (supposedly) nice and inviting restaurant and wine bar. she didn't even care to come and talk to me about it. found no issues in her behavior with me. the server, however, made up for her by giving us a great service, but the manager convinced me that she has no customer service skills, and singlehandedly made me not ever want to come back.
save your money and go somewhere else. the food is also overpriced

Fantastic place, I feel so lucky to have stumbled upon this gem! Beautiful atmosphere, people, food and wine. I felt so well taken care of! The blue eagle burger is to die for. Not many places do it properly, and this is one of them.

WAY overpriced for teeny tiny portions. We had the veggie nachos, which were delicious. The vegetable melange was so tasty. There wasn't enough cheese, but they were still very good. They were big enough for 1 person. Smaller than a personal pizza. The fried pickles were excellent, as was the Sriracha mayo dipping sauce, but again, super small portion. The street corn was very good, but alas, TINY. AND, they added a charge for cutting the corn off the cob! Not cool. We didn't ask for it to be cut off the cob. It was only 1 cob anyway. Very annoying. We finished with the Mac and cheese which was a big disappointment. It was soupy. Very watery. Flavorless. The pasta itself was cooked fine, but the cheese was very watery and had no flavor. And again, very small portion. I would liken it to a SIDE of Mac and cheese. For $17, we figured it was a main dish. It was also listed as a main dish.
The service was slow and not very attentive. It's also a small place, so it wouldn't take much to keep an eye on all patrons. Despite the overpriced food and so-so service, the atmosphere was GREAT. Vintage feel, cool light fixtures, wood wall fixtures and the bar was nicely decorated.
Our check was delivered in an old paperback, which was unique. But that couldn't make up for the tiny amount of food and the massive check.
