Great place and great food for a family settting or celebration
Good food. Pricey menu. The restaurant is showing signs of getting old. Ambience is okay. Parking can be hard to find.

A family dinner on a busy Saturday night, it was great. The appetizer platter and of course the bread were spectacular. The pastas looked yummy. The one person who ordered a salad did not think it was anything special. I ordered the veal scaloppine. It was very disappointing. Four very thin 3" slices of veal with no sauce and capers. Never would I order that again. There was plenty of other delicious food so I didn't leave hungry lol il fornaio Burlingame was a fantastic place to wine and dine and reconnect with family before the holidays. Parking was looking bad but turned out good with a small lot very near and people coming and going.
Mangia il fornaio!

Atmosphere & Service:
The restaurant is beautiful both inside and out. The ambiance for dinner was the traditional setting with dim lights, nice table settings and an open view of the kitchen. The staff were polite and very accommodating for our party of 8

Came into town for a wedding and this is where the Bride decided to have dinner. I was super excited to eat some Italian food. As you can tell by the pictures the food looked amazing, however it was very disappointing. None of the food had flavor. Because we were a big group we ordered a variety of items and we ended up having to put salt and pepper on everything. The olive oil for the bread tasted like fake oil out a plastic bottle. The calamari was cooked perfectly but had no flavor and the sauce didn't help either. Two orders of the braised short rib ravioli had to be remade because it came out cold and once to the table was also bland. The salmon was slightly dry and the beef in the lasagna was overwhelming.
Not sure what happened here, but there is definitely room for improvement. My score is based on the food alone.

Nick helped my mom and I with drinks and made our night. He was a wealth of knowledge and served a fantastic flight of amaros for us to try. Thank you, Nick!

Good ambience. Delicious drinks.
Main complaint: I feel a lot of the dishes were served lukewarm, which affected my enjoyment. I noticed for those dishes the plates were not heated. When I did taste something that was at a hotter temperature (the scallop in the pasta) it was much more enjoyable.
Then these are not complaint, just observations. Their pizza was of the more fluffy variety. I personally prefer the more crunchy variety. On the other hand, the linguine was very al dente, to my surprise.
Wheelchair accessibility: The aisle can be slightly narrow at places. But overall accessible.

I saw an online ad for Il Fornaio and wanted to try out the pizza. I work close to the Burlingame locations and decided to stop by and order a pie. Nick was very generous with his time, even though he was busy between different customers he still helped me with my special order of adding mushrooms and not cutting my pizza. I got the order shortly after ordering (about 10 mins) and it looked amazing! When I brought it home and started eating I couldn’t stop, the added garlic made it that much more delicious! I’ll definitely order again. Thanks Nick, Martin (The chef) and the rest of the Il Fornaio staff who welcomed me as a newcomer to the restaurant.
Dietary restrictions: Vegetarian, non cut pizza due to the oils and other bits of meats on the same cutter.

Our party of 4 arrived abput 4 p.m. There was plenty of tables available. However, once 5 p.m. rolled around, this restsurant was packed. They have a nice bar area (quite large), and a small outside eating area as well as the large indoor dining area. The service was outstanding. I definitely recommend this restaurant. I had the ravioli d'amaretto which was delicious.
