The Original Royal Donut Reviews
Save yourself the grief, they couldn't care less about their service. When I placed my mobile order a day early and called 3 hours before pickup to adjust my time by 45 minutes, I was assured this would be handled. However, I received a call at my original pickup time saying the food was already prepared and couldn't be remade.
The staff offered only explanations for the mix-up rather than an apology or any attempt to accommodate the situation. This was particularly frustrating...read full review
A Burlingame sweet American donut story pass on from a Polish Jewish immigrants- Philip Kares who open the shop in the late 1970’s; sold it to the Chows in the 80’s, to the Lu’s and now passed on to the Choi. Special memorable thanks to Philip and his family, the staffs—Kathy, Alversia, Alfonso, Mike, Ray, Steve, Genie, —and the many wonderful customers who help made this place specials...
I had to stop by Royal Donut Cafe because of all of the great reviews I saw on Yelp! And I must say that I wasn't disappointed at all! The staff was awesome! From the cashier, to the cooks, and the server. And I even got a chance to meet the owner, Terri, who has taken over the business for the past 15 years! Definitely going to be a regular here! I ordered the vegetarian omelet! 😋

The Original Royal Donut is a popular donut shop that has been serving the San Francisco Bay Area for years. The donuts, including the highly acclaimed Apple Fritters, are praised for their great taste and quality. The shop also offers a variety of savory options, such as bánh mi (Vietnamese sandwiches), alongside their sweet treats. Prices range from around $1 for donut/cronut holes to $3 for specialty bars and fritters. The classic glazed/raised donut is described as light and fluffy, while the cronut holes can be a bit greasy.
Recently, customers have noted that the service can be adequate, with some experiences being friendly. One customer appreciated receiving free donut holes after a wait, highlighting that the vibe is more relaxed rather than rushed. The donuts are often described as above average, with a nice yeasty flavor in the plain glazed. There are also interesting specialty offerings, although some may find the ambiance not ideal for ordering savory items like bánh mi.
Overall, The Original Royal Donut is a beloved spot for both sweet and savory donut enthusiasts in the local community. It remains open 24 hours, making it a convenient choice for those craving a good donut or a respectable sandwich at any time.
