My family's go-to local Japanese restaurant. Kind, thoughtful service and a great selection. The rice porridge is one of my favorite, less-common menu items.

Had a wonderful night out with friends! The staff was welcoming and made everything feel easy, and the food came out so quickly. Loved all of the dishes here, including the Lamb Chop and the Chawan Mushi. I’d happily return.

I’ve been going to Tomokazu for years. I love the authentic vibe and food is always amazing. I tried a lot of things on their menu, and everything comes in great quality. Try their lamb chops and tonkatsu, and you will be surprised!

This place is a HIDDEN GEM and my go to Japanese restaurant in the Bay Area.
Tonkatsu is my favorite, but their sushi and sashimi are very good too - always very fresh and tasty.
The vibe is cozy and it’s also a great place for a group lunch or dinner because they have several private dining rooms available.
Highly recommend!

I had dinner at Tomokazu and it was so good. The sashimi was super fresh and cut nice and thick, especially the salmon and tuna. We tried a few different rolls and the mango roll was my favorite. The lamb chops were tender and not gamey at all, the wings were tasty, and the chawanmushi was hands down the best part. Everything was delicious and I would definitely come back again. The food was so good that I completely forgot to take photos, so the only picture I have is of the sashimi lol

Fresh sushi and great service. Best sushi in the area! Highly recommend the sashimi and 49er roll. Sometimes the restaurant can be a little cold and a bit noisy, but nothing that would stop us from going

When I do take out they always forget the Chopsticks and soy sauce which bugs me because none of the other sushi restaurants forget that especially.... the cashier is very nice but isn't she supposed to make sure I have those things before I leave? Also I do not like that they put sesame seeds all over every kind of role they make

Standard sushi spot. Got rolls and scallops as takeout. Good quality, higher prices, wide selection of your common rolls and sashimi.

I have to be that person - posting a review because it's bad. I decided to try as I've passed by for years. Service is great! Chicken teriyaki was tough texture wise, chewy but my mom and I ate half. we sent back the beef teriyaki ordered medium because it was tough and I thought it would be edible if it was medium well but still super tough and chewy. We ate less than 1/4 to see if it was any better after asking to cook to medium well. After cooking a bit more - still too tough and chewy to eat. Tempura included hard, heavy vegetables. One salmon sushi roll was fine and the salads were fresh. The gal who ran my payment didn't remove any of the cost as she didn't see the plate with the inedible beef teriyaki and half eaten chicken that was cleared by the busser. Definitely not returning here.
