This is my "go to" place in Burlingame! Fantastic wine selection , nice cool vibe. Austin, and Drea, as well as Jason (owner ), are extremely knowledgable. If you are looking for interesting wine, and a chill atmosphere, this is it. They have Thursday night wine events that are a great value to taste new wines. They get prominent wine makers, and wineries from major areas to have tastings throughout the year as well. They have small bites to nosh with your wine. :)

Can't believe I haven't left my praises for this place! Hands-down best wine bar in the Peninsula! Amazing selection, wines for all palates, beginners, vinos, and wine nerds alike. Staff is amazing, super friendly, knowledgeable, and attentive. The flights are super fun and great to expand your palate. And if you study the wine list closely, you'll find some bottles priced at a steal! This has quickly become my go-to spot and it will become yours soon!

I visited this place for the atmosphere and ended up staying for the fantastic wine and welcoming staff. It’s become my go-to spot! Drea, a level 2 sommelier, truly knows her wine. She has a knack for sensing what people are in the mood for. The food is delicious, and they’re always experimenting with wines and discovering new favorites. It’s one of the most diverse wine lists I’ve ever seen. In short, great wine, tasty food, and friendly folks. What more could you ask for?

Burlingame has long been overdue for a dedicated wine bar, and Velvet 48 Wine Bar fills that gap beautifully. Years ago, we were regulars at Nectar, a beloved spot for date nights, and ever since it closed, we've been waiting for something that could capture that same charm. Velvet 48 delivers.
Though centrally located, the entrance is a bit tucked away — we might have missed it if a friend hadn’t recommended it. We’re so glad they did. From the moment you walk in, the service is warm, welcoming, and attentive without being overbearing. You’re greeted with a taste of their house sparkling rosé, which is so good we end up ordering it every time we visit. That said, their wine list is extensive and thoughtfully curated, and they also offer bottles to-go.
We always enjoy their cheese and charcuterie boards — either one of each or the half-and-half option, which makes a perfect light bite before dinner.
If you’re looking for an inviting, high-quality wine bar in Burlingame, Velvet 48 is absolutely worth a visit.

I love this spot. It’s a little hard to find. Into a narrow corridor and then you’re in a lovely, expansive room full of wine bottles. The bartenders/servers are so kind and knowledgeable. Zero attitude at all. Just lovely. Great selection of wines and snacks. Such a good vibe. Thank you, servers for being so good at your jobs!
