The best Japanese food I ever had! So tasty, so much flavor and it melts in your mouth. Their house special Shibuya rolls are amazing. Crispy rice Spicy tuna to die for, scallops rolls - even a simple cucumber side dish was so tasty. My favorite Black Cod Miso - cooked to perfection! Everything was so fresh - you can feel the difference!

The place is small and the wait can be hour long. Plan accordingly but going early for dinner can reduce the wait time. Parking can be difficult but there is plenty of parking off the road.

Update: wait this time was longer because of weekend - over 2 hours! We just went to The Commons at Calabasas. The food was still super good!

PS: To cut wait time many people plan ahead. Go at 4:00 pm to add reservation at Shibuya, watch a movie and come back!

Crowded as hell. I would still count this as an American sushi place, which makes the price a little harder to justify. Good fish quality though.

The food was good, but I've had better. I think I spent about $70 on my meal, which was not much higher quality than a good $35 meal. The atmosphere was fine. Cramped, busy, but in a good way, like in the way a local popular spot should be. The service was dismal. We got skipped twice on the wait list because the front door system is super messy. And then sitting at the counter, the servers kept getting plates from sushi chefs by leaning over me, which mean that some servers armpit was constantly hitting my shoulder. It was about 8-9 times. Other than getting bumped forward constantly, that's also kind of gross and not a high end experience.

Legendary sushi was solid pieces at a good price. We ranked the toro as our favorite followed by the Shibuya house roll, yellowtail and spicy scallop hand roll. Waitress was incredibly helpful, gave good recommendations. Would come back again!

I will never come back here again, the food is good but I have never been chased outside restaurant to tip MORE than I already did. We had a split check and left one tip together and the server comes and first tells us to tip more which is already crazy. When they picked up the second check that had zero for the tip (since we tipped on one) the old lady chased us out the door and told us to leave a tip and I had to take the check out of my friends hand and leave and walked out. I went back to speak to a manager and they said they don’t have a manager and when I asked for the owner they said the owner was not there. I HAVE NEVER BEEN FORCED TO LEAVE A TIP ANY RESTAURANT IVE GONE TO!!!! Save your money and go somewhere else.

This place is absolutely amazing. There are so many things that are off menu that are usually written on the whiteboard. Came in this weekend and did Omakase. Everything was absolutely delicious. The Omakase would be my recommendation!

The hype is real at Shibuya and the wait is absolutely worth it. Sometimes it makes sense that day after day, year after year, a constant wait to eat somewhere actually results in quality food and service.

I showed up around 10am Friday to get on the waitlist and I was already number 7 or 8, so yes, show up early! But I also noticed that by 1:30ish, almost if not all of the people who had been waiting, did get seated.

Staff is fantastic all around. Everyone makes you feel welcome. The sushi bar is a bit tight but it's fine, it makes you feel like you're eating in Japan.

I started off with the Shibuya roll. One of the best sushi rolls I've had in LA. The tempura was so crunchy, the crab was soft, not overly stuffed with rice, and just a perfect roll.

Later I also had the salmon onion roll - another amazing roll that is rather simple but executed perfectly and unlike anything you'll find elsewhere.

The toro was outstanding, so tender and fresh, while the seared toro just melted in my mouth.

The salmon belly topped with the orange glaze and sesame seeds was mind blowing.

The unagi was perfect. Thick cut, charred to perfection, not overly sauced.

The sweet shrimp had a good bite and fresh, sweet flavor.

And of course, the tuna crispy rice. Wow. Nobody else does it like Shibuya. The crispy rice is almost like an arancini, so crunchy on the outside yet soft and fluffy rice inside. The tuna is cut into good size chunks, and not drenched in mayo taking away the fresh delicious flavor of the tuna. Each piece was like eating 3 tuna crispy rice at any other sushi spot.

Shibuya is an absolute YES in my book, and it should be for you too.

Horrendously managed and outdated seating system. There is nobody that stands at the door to manage the waitlist or give information about the wait time to people in the line. Was told 30-40 minutes, ended up waiting 90 minutes+ and was not given the option to just leave my number. Felt it was important to leave this review because it wasn't abundantly evident enough how atrocious the system was before coming in from all the glowing reviews.
