I had higher hopes for Sam's! Some dishes were excellent (my husband's steak, my octopus) some were almost inedible. Service for this caliber of restaurant was extremely disappointing.

This was a birthday dinner that was more than I could have asked for. The staff was super friendly, attentive, and well-informed. The food was so delicious that I actually hummed with every bite. The portions were very generous. Would go back again in a heartbeat!

My husband and I had lunch at Sam's Social Club before enjoying browsing around Calistoga. We loved the food, clean, delicious with nice presentation. The service was professional and friendly, and the ambience on the patio where we were seated was peaceful. The gardens add to the beautiful environment. This is a great restaurant for family gatherings.

If you have any allergies, dont go here. My fiance has a tree nut allergy and we made sure to check before ordering, and after getting her food that it didnt have tree nuts in it. Turns out the sauce in her food had cashews, which caused her to have an allergic reaction. This mean multiple people along the way failed to do their job. We had to leave our family event early and rush home where we administered an epipen. Luckily she is fine, but its a disgrace that something like that could happen at a place like this. Words dont describe how upset this whole thing made us. Do not recommend.

Personally I feel it is a good place to social, not necessarily a foodie's dream. The food was not bad, but more text-book and less creative. Bread and cultured butter - solid (best of all dishes) Grilled squid - smaller than some of photos I saw, tastes okay Summer squash soup - stronger chicken broth flavor than squash Special pasta - good, except the bacon bits didn't fit in Lamb - good, but the sides weren't Churro - good
The food here is consistently good! The outdoor area is so lovely and live music is great in the background. The octopus was a real favorite. Perfect pork chop, too. Will keep going back.
