Amazing artifacts and decor
Vault Wine + Artifacts in Calistoga, California, is a unique wine tasting room and antique shop that blends local wines with historical artifacts, particularly from the wine industry, offering guests a journey through wine history in a charming setting, contrasting with other historic vaults like the Coronado Historical Association's former bank vault or Reynolda House's Prohibition-era cellar, and aiming to connect visitors with the legacy of winemaking through curated experiences and a collection of aged treasures.
Super rude people. We had a large group and were willing to sit separate and even though we already paid for a passport, they were going to make us pay for a tasting
We stopped into Vault hoping to squeeze in a quick tasting before another reservation and tried the three wines offered through the Calistoga Wine Passport—every one of them was incredible. Because we loved them so much, we also tried an additional wine recommended by Vanessa, which was equally spectacular. Although we had to rush off, we knew immediately we’d be back after dinner.
Returning to Vault was the highlight of our night! They work with several different vintners so they offer such an impressive and diverse selection of wines. Vanessa was absolutely amazing and truly took us on a journey through nearly the entire tasting menu. There wasn’t a single wine we didn’t enjoy, and we ended up leaving with six bottles! The winemaker, Mario, even stopped by the tasting room, and we had the chance to chat with him as well. We had such an unforgettable experience & we can’t wait to return!
We did the winter in the winery passport program. Vault was our last stop, and we were excited to check this one out. We were greeted by a friendly older gentleman outside and then another kind employee upon entry. He was even kind enough to let us bring in some outside snacks for the tasting.
The whole vibe flipped when we met the blonde server who handled our tasting. After nice pleasantries she was quite snarky and rude after she realized we did not want any of the upsell options. Once she realized this she tried to rush us out the door even though we were the only people there. At each previous winery we bought bottles and left tips and are always happy to tip for good service. We did not experience this from here. Furthermore, after leaving she ran outside after us and yelled how rude it was to not tip for her service. After reading more of the lower reviews this appears to be the common issue.
The Vault genuinely changed how I experience wine. I’ve learned more about my palate here than in any other tasting room, they consistently pour wines with structure and intention. Their selections lean dry, balanced, and expressive rather than sweet or generic, and I always walk away having discovered something meaningful and memorable.
Great esthetic! And some really cool wines you can't find anywhere else. We loved our visit!
Had a lovely time with my husband on our first night in Calistoga ; Carlos talked us through a variety of wines, and we had a generally interesting conversation. The atmosphere is cool, a little bit steampunk. The other end of the Main Street, but worth a walk ( and also very close to Busters BBQ 😋)
Saturday, our group of 8 decided to check out The Vault Winery & get us some wine tastings. We were greeted by Vanessa & she was beyond amazing. We visited multiple wineries this trip & we came to the conclusion that The Vault Winery was the best! Vanessa provided such a sensual experience that easily convinced us to buy wine bottles to take home. Vanessa was very kind, informative & did it mostly by herself. Thank you Vault Winery! You all are truly a Gem. Back to Chicago for us, Peace & Love.
Mario was a wonderful host and we loved our tasting! The wine was excellent and the atmosphere was very cozy. They were open later than other wineries in the area and we didn’t need a reservation. We also loved learning about the history of wine making. I will be back next time I’m in Napa!
In our weekend in Calistoga, the Vault was the only place we went to more than once. They've got a great list of wines, helpful and friendly staff (shoutout Lacey and Carlos), it's open later than most spots, and you don't need a reservation. We had a lovely time, enjoyed great wine, browsed the artifacts, and had a great time. Lacey and Carlos were very knowledgeable and kind, they made the Vault a highlight of our weekend.

A must stop for us when in Calistoga. Wine and atmosphere are great. Vanessa always welcomes us as friends when we stop in.
Great and cozy atmosphere. Carlos was excellent! He was very friendly and made some great wine recommendations that we ended up taking home their Merlot! Highly recommend giving this place a wine tasting visit.
So glad we stopped by Vault. Mario was a splendid, entertaining, and generous host. We very much enjoyed his homemade rosé and left with a bottle in hand. Lots of great stories and conversation with our host and a very unique and interesting space to wander and explore the collection of antiquities. Hope to be back.
Great tasting room! We enjoyed the wine offered and the atmosphere - lots of antiques as if you dive 100 years back in time.
