My friend and I had one of the lunch specials. It was great and came with soup, an egg roll, and rice. Had enough for leftovers today. Service was excellent and they have a pleasant dining room. The little shopping strip they are in looks run down but don't let that hold you back!

Was craving Chinese food but since the usual spots have been respecting federal holidays lately, i decided to try a local restaurant! Oriental Garden is right on Bascom. Parking isn't super roomy but it wasn't bad! Food was noiceeee a solid 8.5/10 overall Kung Pao Chicken 9/10: Really flavorful, just a bit of kick to it. Everything has been coated in sauce evenly and sautéed well together, but without excessive oil. Small crunchy bits that I think were apples were a tad off-putting for me, but the girlfriend really liked it! Walnut Prawns (Honey Walnut Shrimp) 8/10: Pretty dang good as far as this dish goes. You might notice I went for super basic dishes as one does when testing a new restaurant hehe. Crab Puff (Crab Rangoon) 8/10: Okay it took me a second to realize their "Crab Puff" on the menu is what folks usually call a Rangoon elsewhere- but regardless it was good and the crab filling appeared to be real crab, not imitation. Filling appeared to be small in volume though and it was fried to the point where the shell was kind of overly hard, not a crisp, edible texture that I'd hoped for. Still, great service from the lady working the counter and you can tell this place has been around forever from the interior's aging. (I mean this in a good way, they're doing things right!) Definitely a homey, solid spot if you're in South SJ

Not bad but certainly not 5 stars or even 4. Place was deserted and food was bland. Half of the items were not available

I'm giving five stars for what I ordered. Chinese Sausage Fried Rice, Green Beans, Mongolian Beef & Hot & Sour Soup. Everything that I ordered were on point in taste. It's fresh, tasty. Without overpowering saltiness or greasiness. The service is attentive and kind. Ambiance is clean, quiet and relaxing with a waterfall backdrop and a soft music playing. Again, this is an authentic moment and pop Chinese restaurant. Parking is easy.

Sorry Oriental garden, but I was pretty disappointed with the meal. The lady working there was super nice, but for $100 for a few dishes and soup that were average sized portions it was a bit expensive for the quality we got. I know food prices have gone up a lot recently but I've been to other restaurants and gotten more food for less. Oh well. I got: BBQ pork fried rice Chicken Chow mein Sweet and sour chicken Wonton soup Honey walnut prawns I thought I ordered way too much for 4 people but we ended up having just the right amount, normally that much food we'd have tons of leftovers

Amazing, tasteful, mom and pop shop, impeccable service! I'm excited to frequent this place for lunches and dinners. It's reasonably priced and they have different combos $/person which imo is more than enough food.Pictured: pork chow fun + ginger onion beef + pint of minced beef egg white soupThe waitress was attentive and even packed away our leftovers for us. We never ran out of water and she patiently waited for us while we ordered. We WILL be back!(BTW dine-in orders ended at 7:15pm with closing at 8pm but you could still order takeout)Parking: Diagonal parking with entrance going both directions

We were glad that we chose this place on a sultry summer afternoon as we were more than happy with the food and the service! The chicken fried rice was savory and bold and the hot and sour soup, with its plentiful egg ribbons, was thick and spicy. This eatery is one that offers solid meals!

It’s a small, family owned place that’s not fancy or anything (“hole in the wall” category, I guess from decor point of view), but the food !! And the service! Please give it a go if you aren’t looking for fancy, but good.I really hope the business will pick up for them - one of the reasons I finally decided to write a review. I’d HATE seeing then close, but I know they struggle, just like many other restaurants. We’ve been coming here for a couple of years and we all love the freshness of the food, the service (my kids adore the lady! - owner?). Today I had the clay seafood dish and ?.My kids always say they have the best chicken friend rice as well.

I ordered the wonton soup and beef chow fun, the food was so, soo delicious and fresh. The lady at the register was super friendly and helpful. Outside, there was plenty of parking, and the area was easy to access within town. Oriental Garden is most certainly my new favorite go-to for take out.
