Pains me to say how far this place has fallen. I hear it’s new owners. Have had two orders cancelled by them for no explanation and just had them say their grill is out so nothing on the grill. Understand that things happen but this is all within a month span. Hate to say my chances to return are very low because of these experiences. A Shame

Does Basil’s Deli and Cafe have the BEST Subs in the San Fernando Valley?
I needed some sandwiches to bring for a picnic at the Hollywood Bowl and a beach day with friends. I came across this hidden gem that we’ve driven by hundreds of times. Family owned and operated in the heart of Chatsworth. It’s 100% worth the hype!!
Quality premium meats, freshly sliced to order. It’s a flavor-packed local gem you can’t miss. Handcrafted sub sandwiches from Basil’s Deli in Canoga Park with fresh Boar’s Head meats.
We tried these sub sandwiches:
Al Pacino’s Favorite – bold and meaty. Turkey, roast beef, ham, salami—stacked like a gangster lineup.
Classic Italian – timeless deli perfection. Nothing beats a Classic Italian. Genoa salami, mortadella, prosciutto, hot capicolla—each bite, a hit of pure deli magic. Savory and salty!
Torino’s Special – full of flavor and extra love. It’s layered like a love letter to old-school Italian delis with Mortadella, ham, prosciutto, copicolla and salami. Stacked and loaded!!
Tip: when taking on a picnic, ask for any sauces, dressings or pepperoncini on the side so that sandwich does not get soggy.
They have these unique Basil Seed drinks. Instead of chia seeds floating in the drinks, they have Basil seeds, which helps to cool the body. Perfect for the summer!!
Basil’s Deli and Cafe is a definite MUST-TRY, with so many incredible sub sandwich options, we’ll be back to explore more from the menu!
Top notch customer service from Herman, Manuel, Greg and Arthur!!

A hidden gem old school sandwich shop
Got the hot pastrami sandwich, and wow it reminded me of the delicious pastramis from NY.
Everything here is made to order, so no pre-made pick up sandwiches.
You do have to pay extra for 12”, however the freshness, quality and the house sauce is worth it.

This was my first time at this Italian deli and I was seriously impressed! The food was absolutely delicious — everything tasted super fresh and flavorful. I also tried their cannoli and they were so good! Definitely coming back again soon. Highly recommend if you’re in the area!

I'm sorry I don't have a picture to show anyone. My daughter and I were pretty hungry, so we went right into eating and forgot to take a picture. Next time, I will have to do it. We ordered the Gladiator and the Torino sandwiches, and yes, pure Italian deliciousness. I highly recommend Basil's Deli and Cafe. The owner was very friendly and kind, gorgeous green eyes - wow. The team made perfect sandwiches with the works. We were very satisfied. The place is very nice and clean. They also have hot sandwiches. There's a good variety of good brand chips to Baklava. With the liquids from: Snappel to bottled water, classic bottle Pepsi and Coke to Perrier, Kombucha and fruit drinks too. I will be returning again. My 2 weeks craving was completely satisfied.

My wife and I stopped by this spot and ordered the hot pastrami sandwich. Honestly, one of the best sandwiches I’ve ever had. Easily one of the top sandwiches in the Valley.
But what really puts this place above the rest—better than any sandwich shop I’ve been to in L.A.—is the service. Greg, the owner, went out of his way to take care of us. You can tell he genuinely cares about the food and the people.
Great food, great people. We’ll be back.

We found this place on google and decided to give a try. The sandwiches (chicken pesto and turkey bacon) were great. Will def order again.
The best chicken panini in town, the owner Grigor is a good man.
My husband and mine 1st time here OMG!! the meat is so fresh the bread is soft everything was amazing GREAT CUSTOMER SERVICE!!!!! DEFINITELY COMING BACK!!!!
First time here based on the great reviews, and it definitely lived up to the hype. The sandwiches were amazing, and the gentleman who helped us, Herman, went above and beyond with top-notch customer service — something that’s rare these days. I’ll definitely be coming back. Side note: I really enjoyed the oldies songs playing; they gave the place an authentic deli vibe.
very tasty food (we ordered the hot pastrami sandwich & a breakfast sandwich). Both were delicious. The 2 gentlemen who made our sandwiches were very nice and attentive. Reasonable prices. Highly recommend you give this place a try.
