We went to dinner at Pete’s for the first time last night and it was incredible! I loved the way all of the dishes are presented, very thoughtful and pretty. Mike, our server, was very attentive and we also enjoyed chatting with the owner, Sarah.

The ahi appetizer was superb, focaccia freshly baked and delicious, our mains and desserts were yummy as well!

It’s perfect for a date night! The lychee martinis were outstanding the best I’ve had since I was in Hawaii!

We spent with my friend a wonderful evening there and I have a warm feeling about this place. Filet mignon was cooked perfect: soft and tasty, and we also liked a salad with goat cheese: it was fresh, and had such a pleasant taste that I was really enjoying it. This restaurant also has a beautiful view where you can enjoy looking at the ocean, the sunset or walking by people.

I just discovered this place and it's already my new fave! The tempura crab with lobster sauce was AMAZING! All the dishes were delicious, and the service was top notch. Like...you go to the bathroom and come back to a folded napkin nice! And then the French cruller with espresso ice cream and whip cream!? How do they do this? It's extremely fine dining with a great beach view for a reasonable price!

I'm modifying this review since the executive chef that created the exquisite food is gone and is opening a restaurant in Santa Cruz. His food here was absolutely exquisite when he was chef so I would expect that the new restaurant when it is up and running and dialed in will be as good or better.
When we were at pete's Capitola when he was chef, Petes was not the typical California beachfront restaurant. It does have a terrific view and it is located on the edge of the ocean but everything else was so far above typical.
There were four of us and we share so we tasted probably a third or more of the dinner menu.
While everything we tasted was so far above the average excellent restaurant, our favorite dishes last night were (in order of starters to mains):
- * the Crudo, which melts in your mouth and is deliciously flavorful,
- the persimmon butter and focaccia toast
- the Wagyu Polish sausage (yes, I do not normally eat sausage and haven't in years, but this is homemade and so delicious, especially with the mustard sauce they make).
-* the Porcini Agnolotti, wonderful layered rich comforting homemade deliciousness and the favorite of several of us along with the Crudo
- the striped bass, which is a favorite of the only one of us that had been here before.
Aside from the exquisite food then, the restaurant decor was clean and comfortable, the staff was friendly, courteous, knowledgeable, efficient and not intrusive. The chef came out from the kitchen a few times to check on and talk with diners, it was obvious they all loved what they do, which was also unusual in restaurants these days.

This is my favorite restaurant outside of Monterey that I don’t mind driving to on Sundays for dinner. I absolutely love everything and anything on their menu. Whether im craving fish, meat, or pasta, they have it and it’s always an incredible dish every time. Service is always wonderful, they make us feel welcomed and happy to see us every time.

I’ve always been a bit critical about restaurants in the entire Santa Cruz area, but this one is Monterey quality and standards. Highly recommend! 😗🤌

Superb dinner here during Santa Cruz Restaurant Week 2025, with Wild Mushroom Bolognese and Seasonal Ahi Crudo, and an Apple Creme Brulee for dessert. Stellar service, a heated outdoor patio as well as fine indoor dining, offering enchanted evening views over Monterey Bay from their setting adjacent to Stockton Bridge and above Margaritaville in Capitola Village.

Had lunch; Asked after any vegan options- the server was completely stumped. Ordered heirloom tomato salad without the ricotta. It was a bowl of sliced tomatoes with pesto swiped around the inner part of the bowl ( no drizzle on top) for $22. Really inexcusable. Come on! You can do better!!!

Only had appetizers and they were very good, reason for only 4 stars.

Very nice upscale place in Capitola, my new favorite.

This is my favorite restaurant in the Santa Cruz area and my husband and I are big foodies. This is the most romantic restaurant in Santa Cruz, overlooking the ocean. The food always has so much flavor, like a Michelin star restaurant. The service is amazing.

They have the most amazing oysters and caviar. The ambience is beach elegance.
The service is always on point. A classy and elegant choice!
