Slowly cooked stews rich in flavor and spice. It reminds me that some things are worth waiting for, like a stew that has surely been building in flavor for hours.
My wife and I recently returned from a trip to New Orleans, so we decided to eat here. I must say that the food here was as good as what we had in New Orleans, maybe better. We ordered the jambalaya, gumbo, shrimp étouffée, alligator, fried green tomatoes, and muffaletta, and washed it all down with an Abita Andygator Cajun beer. Everything was delicious! Our compliments to owner and chef Chad for the delectable cuisine!
When I went in last time there were no customers, but every table was dirty. Very dishearten to clean a table and have the staff watch me while they do nothing.
Always delicious! Best Cajun food in Santa Cruz.
Very friendly and helpful personal - answered all my questions about food and even let me try a stew as I have never had this before. Pricing and portions are good.

Great food and nice folks. Bummer the air isn’t great but still wonderful and spacious. Love the clean bathroom with good smelling camomile soap.

I was so excited about trying this place that I hiked a mile or so from my car parked downtown by the beach to walk uphill and around to get there. Ordering was an unexpected challenge since the guy at the counter was an olympian mutterer! In the end, I just fumbled my way into ordering a half n half gumbo/jambalaya with brown rice. The ‘corn bread’ arrived first and was heated-skip! Down hill from there the main course arrived cold and the rice was all crunchy from being too long in the cooker. The lukewarm soups were not enjoyable or particularly flavorful or seasoned. I’d say it appears good enough for locals but out-of-towners definitely shouldn’t go out of their way to try. I got 2+ miles of steps for that day, yay!

Took my 82 yr old mom here because she never had chicken and waffles before. I also wanted a shrimp po' boy and this place had one on the menu. We were both VERY pleased with the food and service. The food came out fresh and fast....and was great. I usually bring home half of a sandwich but not this time; too good to not eat the whole thing there. My mom loved the chicken and waffles and finished the whole thing...a rarity for her at 82 yrs old. Do yourself a favor and skip the tourist trap restaurants close to the water. Great food, great service...5 stars all day long.

I got the catfish fry, not even joking, that was the best catfish I've ever had. So tender and flaky, and the outside so crispy and perfectly seasoned!!! Wow. The fries also deliciously seasoned, crispy on the outside and so soft on the inside.
My husband got the gumbo, and an extra side of mac and cheese and he loved it!
I want to come back and try the po boys!!

I know it’s difficult but a BLT stands for bacon, lettuce and tomato not a wad of bacon and avocado. I didn’t think it was hard to make sandwiches but you prove otherwise I guess.
