I went here for the first time tonight. I had placed an order over the phone and it was ready when I got there. I ordered vegan yellow curry and it was delicious! Very flavorful. Also I ordered a Thai tea with coconut milk and I don't think they charge extra for coconut milk which is nice. Overall I would recommend this place if you're looking for some good Thai food in the area.

Loved the food and had excellent service. They were very busy with takeout orders so they advised us to order quickly. Then they kept us informed when your order was being started. Curry was great, noodles great and Thai teas were better than boba places in area. Definitely will return!

Thai Basil is the best Thai restaurant in the Monterey Bay Area! This "Mom & Pop" run restaurant is the place to go if you crave Thai food that "breaks the norm" of other Thai restaurants. Here you will find Thai food that takes the unusual dishes, to the next level of "amazing"! The dishes at Thai Basil burst with homemade flavors in your mouth, that are fresh and a step beyond what you would expect from Thai food! I have taken friends and family here and they Always comment that this Is The Best, Thai food they've ever had! And It's True! There are other good Thai restaurants in Santa Cruz but I don't mind driving the extra distance to Capitola, because Thai Basil Is That Much Better! This is Thai, that tastes like you're eating "Grandma's Secret Recipe" because the recipes are from the owner's family! The restaurant is run by the owners and you are served by their family. Service is always fun and friendly! Ambiance is "Capitola Street Side", which means that there is outdoor seating that is secluded but right off the sidewalk. There is also indoor seating, in the dining room but haven't dined in there in a while... Anyway, Thai Basil is the Best I've ever had and I'm ending this review because Now I'm Hungry, Hungry for Thai Basil!

My husband and I live in the neighborhood and have eaten at Thai Basil on a weekly basis for over 2 years. Usually we get take out, but recently started dining in with our 2 year old daughter. We had seen their off-putting sign on the front window about how your children must be well behaved if you want to dine there, but our kid is actually pretty good for a toddler and up until this evening, each of our visits had been fine. It turns out the chef doesn't like the sound of children AT ALL. The woman who I think is the co-owner seemed excited the first time we asked for a table after years of take out only. She was always very sweet with us, but we haven't seen her for a while. Tonight, after our daughter made a happy giggle that was apparently too loud for the chef's liking, our server told us we could change our order to go if the child was going to be a "problem". Ultimately, we were pressured to gather up our things and quickly leave. It was humiliating. We told them to cancel our order altogether on the way out. I regret giving them so much of our money. After reading other reviews, I've learned they cancel a lot of orders if they decide you're annoying. They don't need (or want) your business in order to survive, but other restaurants do. Support them instead.

Take out: The spicy noodles Anna the green curry were excellent and I’m glad that the person who took my order questioned my initial request for spicy at 4of5 so I changed to 3 and it had a very comfortable kick.
Love the food and service. Food is SO tasty!!! Everything is super fresh and full of flavor. The service is outstanding. This is our new Monday night spot.

This was my first experience trying Thai food many years ago. It blew my mind. Since then I've tried many other Thai restaurants all over, none compare to this place. I could eat their massaman curry for the rest of my life and be happy. Send me the recipe! Returning to this place over a decade later, this is real Thai food and still the best outside of Thailand itself (according to my husband who says he would fly back to Thailand just to eat)! Don't change a thing!

Horrible service.. we waited an hour and I get it they were busy. I was parked in a stall and they had people waiting and I just asked how long it was going to be so I know if I need to buy a ticket for parking. Then the lady just canceled my order.
