The band was awesome had the bar hopping, the bartenders made awesome drinks. Atmosphere is always great vibes!
My family visited Capitola yesterday and of course, being at the beach, they wanted clam chowder bread bowls. I decided on The Sand Bar since it was right in front of us. I placed an order for 2 clam chowder bread bowls and 1 regular bowl of chowder to go. My total came out to $51.24.
What surprised me was the automatic 18% gratuity they added for a to-go order. Crazy times… but wow! If I had known, I wouldn’t have been as shocked.
We sat outside, view was spectacular this was the weekend of the massive waves that took out part of the S.Cruz wharf. Started with Ceviche and chips, split the calamari sandwich and steak sandwich. I recommend going later so you can stay for the music, 5 nights a week.
A larger tip was added to the bill once we left the restaurant. Waiting for the accountant to call back but take your copy of your checks.
Love this place. Been going there for years!!! Always great music, with a great vibe. Also the million dollar view is always amazing to see. Great place to eat and shop right around the corner.
Terrible service and completely understaffed
No acknowledgement or direction if we could sit anywhere or wait to be seated. Waited for ten minutes no menu passed had to go find menu then after waiting a few more minutes went to the bar to order drinks and they said I had to wait for the server. Told them I had been waiting ten plus minutes to be served and the bartender could have cared less. I Never post reviews especially negative ones but this was the complete most horrendous experience!
Patty is that betchh! I luv her. Very professional and has an amazing personality.
One of the worst foods I've had, I'd give zero stars if possible. Baja fish tacos and ceviche were utterly tasteless.
Worst experience ever. The waitress was nice but she got our order wrong and was being is random food. She also charged us for three kids quesadillas when we ordered 2 and when I told her she says she charged us 3 because we had three kids (one is a 4month old, we clearly did not get a quesadilla for a newborn)That’s no excuse. My brother also asked for the receipt and the waitress handed him a blank piece of paper. The lady behind the counter was extremely rude and told us that we sat down when there was a 20 min wait so therefore we threw them off. There was no one waiting and She had actually told us to sit where we wanted to and told the same thing to the family behind us. The restaurant was not busy at all and it had open tables. With a sign that said please sit yourself. She was also talking behind our backs when we were leaving. Very unprofessional and rude.
Best place to grab a drink in the Village! Highly recommended.

Live music and people are always friendly. You may run into a legend here.
The Sand Bar is amazing for live music, they often have local bands and artists during the week. Lots of locals go dancing and enjoy the ambiance.

Never have been so disappointed in a restaurant and service. Not only did we wait an hour to get seated, by the time we placed our order it had been another hour and we didn’t even get our drinks. When we received our food it was extremely bland, not seasoned whatsoever. My brothers order was even missed and he even had to wait an extra 30 minutes. It was super cold and multiple people asked if we could close the doors and the server refused. The people were so hostile and the servers were racist. There was a black family that came in that they completely ignored until they left. Did not even seat them. The whole 2 hours we waited we saw the chef eating the food while he was making it and not washing his hands in between. Extremely unpleasant experience. 0/5 if I could. The utensil were also clearly dirty and unwashed.

a horrible experience. Horribly understaffed, waited 2 and a half hours to be served food, took about 40 mins just to get waters and drinks, food was fine but wasn’t worth after 2 and a half hours of wait. Auto gratuity is wild after all of this. Wouldn’t recommend to anybody who is looking to get the most out of their time. Oh yea also room was freezing cold, one food item was even EXTRA LATE so on top of the already late serving time.
