While we were excited to enjoy this restaurant by the water in Capitola, we were left a bit disappointed with the overall experience. The hostesses were uninterested in helping and seemed to be bothered by any questions. Upon being seating, half of our wrapped silverware had food crusted on them still. We asked for more sets and never got them. The food was the only saving grace, which was good and had good portion sizes for the price point. Our servers barely came by to check on the table but luckily, the bussers were doing what they could to pick up the slack. At one point we asked one of the hostesses who was passing by for a bottle of hot sauce because we hadn't seen our waiter and she looked visibly upset by the inconvenience.
We enjoyed the views and food, we e eaten many places along the beach and have never had a problem with wild life such as birds...there were mice outside who would run and grab food that fell and run back onto the beach...it was very different for us
During our trip to Capitola, we stopped by Zelda's on the Beach and timed our reservation for 6:30 PM so we could catch the sunset during dinner. The restaurant was not too packed, so a reservation was not even necessary. We had the option to sit inside or outside, and we were lucky enough to get a booth by an open window. It gave us the perfect sunset view while staying comfortable and away from the winds, even on a warm evening. We started with the coconut shrimp, which ended up being my absolute favorite dish of the night. For entrées, we had the cioppino, a tomato based seafood stew with garlic bread that was flavorful but a little light if you are really hungry, and the sautéed mahi mahi served over coconut white rice. The rice was delicious, though I was not the biggest fan of the sauté on the fish itself. For our daughter, we ordered a milkshake, and that was the winner of the night, so creamy and absolutely amazing. Overall, Zelda's is worth visiting just for the location alone. Sitting by the beach with a view of the sunset makes it such a memorable stop. I have heard from others that brunch is even better than dinner, so next time we are in Capitola we will definitely be back to try their morning menu.
Overall, our meal at Zelda's was good. We started with the bruschetta. The tomatoes and cheese were great but the bread was over roasted and very tough. Our entrees and dessert were great. The service was very good and the entire team made us feel welcomed.
Every aspect of our dining experience was excellent. Perfect seating with ocean view and fantastic food. Drinks were larger pours than expected which is always a pleasure.
Food was ok. They brought our appetizers and salads with our main dinners. There was food and plates everywhere. By the time we were done with our appitizers our dinner was cold. We ordered dessert and they brought our dessert without clearing our table from dinner. It was messy and not a pleasurable experience. Not to mention we were celebrating my fiancés birthday.
Food was good quality but service was not good. I ordered a drink that never came and there was one waitress for the whole patio area who ignored us. The patio area was dirty with lots of seagulls and pigeons We won't be returning to pay high prices for bad service and cleanliness
Everything was great however service was slow - to no fault of our waitress. Just not enough help.
Ive been here in the past and the food was good. We paid $160 for 3 adults and 2 kids. Food was very subpar. The Fish and Chips was so dense, the breading was terrible. The kids got Craft Mac and Cheese as their meals, I think that was $13. There were so many flies that my granddaughter asked me why there were so many! Don't go!
Had brunch. Requested an unobstructed oceanview and got it via OpenTable. Really cool setting an amazing food. The breakfast burrito is absolutely perfect.

Food and service were okay, but it's pricey due to the beach location - nothing fancy.. 🏖️
Seafood Fetuccini as you see in the pic $31
Beware of the 4% mandatory surcharge.
We loved the food and went there 2 days in a row. Food was delicious. One server was better than the other but it was still good service. The calamari, poke, Mahi Mahi, sea melt, and even grilled cheese were great. The fries are the 2nd best in my life, according to my 17 year old and 12 year old. We loved the outside dog friendly place.
Awesome location with windows looking out on the beach. You can be at the beach without being freezing cold! The sea bass fresh and delicious. The staff are friendly. The town of Capitola is adorable to walk around, especially Capitola Ave. I wish we had more time there.
Lady at the counter was extremely rude to us, plenty of better options around.
