Casaro in Carlsbad has a great vibe and cool atmosphere. Went for lunch on a Tuesday — it was busy but the service was still great. Food came out faster than expected and everything was really good. Left full and happy. Will definitely be back

The general manager’s behavior was completely out of line rude, dismissive, and openly disrespectful. From the moment we approached the counter, he made it clear he didn’t want to help, spoke down to us with a passive-aggressive tone, and was visibly annoyed not just with us, but with the customers ahead of us as well. His attitude was hostile and unprofessional.

I work in customer service myself, and I can confidently say: this is not how you treat people. There was no effort to resolve the issue, no courtesy, and absolutely no respect. It takes minimal effort to treat people with basic decency and that was completely lacking here.

We originally tried to place a to-go order online, but the website wasn’t working. I called the restaurant, only to be told they “don’t take to-go orders anymore,” and was hung up on mid-conversation. We went in person, hoping to clear things up, and were immediately turned away with a bad attitude, no solution, and no apology, just more rudeness.

We’ve been loyal weekly customers and normally enjoy the food and friendly service, but this experience changed everything. Don’t come here you’ll be treated with zero respect.

The rest of the staff has always been great, but no customer deserves to be treated the way we were today. Extremely disappointing.

This was a treat to find. Their tacos are absolutely delightful and their salads are even better! The salsa served with chips was too spicy for me but everyone else at my table loved it.

This bar surprised me in the best way possible. From the outside it looks unassuming, but once you step in, it’s like entering a whole new world. The décor is warm and elegant, the lights are low, and there’s this subtle jazz music playing that makes it feel so intimate. I went there on a date, and we were both impressed by the level of service. Our drinks came quickly, and the staff were genuinely kind — not the fake kind of friendly, but actually attentive. Prices are a bit above average, but the quality more than makes up for it.

What an absolutely shame. Consistency is really critical and this place is full marks one day, and nada manana. Days one and two- remarkable food and incredible service. A real gem. Made to feel at home with home cooking. ***Day three, and the B team is all working…unsupervised. A fail. Our waitress, all of 12 made us feel like we were imposing on her time. Manager was MIA so I asked for the senior shift girl. Both were deadpan and absolutely unaccommodating. Add to that a worker had three small children running around in loud, semi-parented playground mode. A super sour finish to a really could-be great place.

I love coming here. They had live music, which was fun and they were really good, but it was too loud. It was hard to talk to my friend who was sitting right next to me. We would have to stop our conversation when they played due to not hearing each other. Our server was incredibly nice, but she did forget about closing us out, and we couldn't seem to get her attention. In the end, we had to go to the front to pay. The front hostess wished us a good night, and we explained we hadn't paid yet. Otherwise, the food is delicious and thry have amazing shrimp tacos.

This was a great find. Outside patio was a wonderful place to spend the evening. Food was a step above any Mexican food in the area. Attentive server and craft margaritas were great! Wonderful place hidden in a strip mall.

The enceladas sauce was way to spicy.
Maybe give a choice on sauce spicy level.
My frijitas was perfect.and the drinks also
Lauren was very friendly.

Joyful

First Visit, Sat at the bar, people sitting in either side of me uninterested in conversation (talking amongst themselves). Prefer friendly conversation at bars. Sunday at 4:30pm
They start all night Happy Hour at 5 on Sundays. Got the Casero Margarita at 5:10pm and the Baja Fish Taco (didn’t love it—fish fried in old grease—you can tell by the color). Guacamole was delish (unfortunately ordered before HH, but it’s only $1 off at HH). Chips and Salsa is pretty good—tried the green and the spicy in addition to the house. Margarita was ok.
Looks like a nice atmosphere in the dining areas. Bar was ok—seats not that comfy. Parking not bad—shared with several restaurants and businesses.

Staff is slow and even when the restaurant is empty if there’s 5 of you and you don’t have your full party of 12 they won’t seat you… even though the restaurant is empty… but the food is good.
