Good hotpot and great service. Roger was such a friendly and attentive server. He did a great job at explaining how everything worked and was a great guy to talk to. I would gladly come back.

Tabu Shabu Carlsbad offers good hotpot and great service. The whole setup lets customers cook everything to their own liking, making dinner feel like an experience. First timers should note that wait time is to be expected for this type of dining; just check in and they will text when ready. Everything tastes fresh, with a full plate of veggies and tons of oils, sauces, and spice to add to the broth. Customers can ask questions about the broth, as some are simple so that preferred flavors can be added. The premium meat, such as ribeye and short rib, is worth the extra cost. Pumpkin slices pair so well with the meat. The ingredients are top-notch, and the food is delicious. The staff makes the whole thing easy and enjoyable. It is a bit pricey, but it is an experience. The restaurant features a funny neon sign, country music, and a $180 Godzilla Challenge where eating 3 lbs of meat plus all veggies in 30 minutes or less makes it free. There is also bar seating, Wine Wednesdays, and lunch specials.
