We went to Hacienda de Vega because my brother and wife liked their beer and tequila menus. They were also high on the carnitas dishes. They are pretty good judges of Mexican food in the Carlsbad, Encinitas, San Diego area and this restaurant choice really solidified their rep for me. Hacienda is located in a kind of business/commercial mall and looks pretty ordinary on the exterior. The first impression you get on the inside is that they are trying a tad to hard to make the place...
Nice attentive staff. Comfortable atmosphere. I go there mainly to listen to the local bands play. I will say however that I think their food is somewhat overpriced. Not uncommon given the area. I highly recommend their corn chowder. It's delicious
