Two very traditional but different entrees.

Our meatloaf a d potatoes was excellent. Great flavor, we were disappointed they could not make the meal gluten-free, there is no reason to add a wheat product to bind the meat. The veggies were fresh and cooked to perfection

Our shrimp meal was overcooked and disappointing. Yes, the flavor was great, but the actual shrimp were TOUGH, check out that curl. Thankfully the heavy-poured drinks made up for the shrimp.

Bistro Filet plate is just the best. Food and drinks always on point. Our server was very good as well. However the host (shorter, older woman) was very rude and off putting. First walked in and we're not acknowledged or greeted for several minutes. It felt very awkward. Then when she finally came around it was not pleasant. Felt like we were inconveniencing her simply by trying to be sat. Frankly it's too expensive to have a host who wasn't even on par with an applebees

I liked every aspect of this restaurant. The staff was friendly, respectful and very professional. The food was delicious. The drinks were amazing. If I had to find one issue I'd have to say the parking. You'll more than likely have to park on the street or around the block but I promise it's worth it. Highly recommend.

Kid-friendliness: I took my 4 year old there twice and he was treated very kindly. Taking children here is no issue for well behaved kids.

Came here late afternoon on a Saturday and there was a waitlist. The wait wasn't that bad, and their service was pretty quick. Our server, Josh, was pretty attentive. Food came out fast as well. We ordered their asparagus fries for appetizer and it was really good. My partner ordered the pork ribs, and I had the bistro plate. The pork ribs was amazing and it really just falls off the bone. The bistro plate was a little bit smaller than I expected but I think the proportion of everything was just enough. The soup of the day was french onion soup and typically I don't like french onion soup cause it can be made really strong but they did it just perfectly and I loved it. Filet mignon was great, garlic toast with the soup just brought out all its flavors, their bistro salad was also delicious. For drinks, I ordered their cucumber collins and it was very refreshing. And lastly, for dessert, we had their most favorite - warm butter cake which was just a great way to end our meal. It's a bit too sweet toward the end but amazing nonetheless. 100/10 recommended and would definitely go back again!

We called today at 11am to see if we could place a Togo order for 5pm for 3 Prime Rib sandwiches. We were told to call 20 mins before making we wanted to pick up our food. So we called at 5:15 to place our order and we're told that they were not taking Togo orders tonight. Very disappointing to be told one thing and then another.

I have been to Nick's several times and met a friend their for some Christmas cheer! Sadly, Nick's is a bummer place for the holidays. There wasn't a single decoration, not even a random piece of plastic Holly. My friend and I sat at the bar and asked if there were any drink specials and met by a grumpy bartender who was not so pleased to be there. We ordered some random signature cocktails that were entirely too small, too sweet and too expensive.
If you are looking for a cheerful spot to ring in the new year or celebrate a special occasion, avoid Nick's

Just had food at nicks Del Mar… food was not as good nor was the service that I had to come on here and say Nicks on State is the absolute best… way better!!! If you are ever in the Del Mar area do not waste your time… go to the one in Carlsbad (which is this one) instead!! We love nick on state, on the other hand we will not be returning to nicks Del Mar. Food was cold and looked unappetizing. Service was also poor at Del Mar location, unlike nick on state they are always super attentive and welcoming!!
