I stopped by in the morning for a coffee and noticed an uncomfortable interaction between the staff and a customer ahead of me. When it was my turn to order, the woman who helped me came off as passive-aggressive and slightly rude, which made the experience less pleasant. The coffee itself was okay, but I’m not sure why I received such cold treatment. I hope this was just an off moment, but it did leave a negative impression. Didn’t get her name but she’s on a video here on Google.

I have had many good Galettes des Rois over the years, but the one from The French Delights was among the best I’ve ever had! I got it to share with friends, and everyone loved it. If you have not been here yet, I highly recommend this place. The pastries are irresistible and the owners are as delightful as their products!

The French Delights is the best! I have visited the old location over 10 times as well as the new location. What stands out to me is the Owner, Shiki. Her pastries are the best I have ever had and truly embrace French delicacies. That said, her brownies are my favorite! We recently did private baking in the kitchen and she tailored it for 11 year old girls. If you are wondering if this is a good idea, book it! Everyone learns how to make preferred items, get to go home with a box AND the super secret recipes are sent to you!!

The pastries we got for breakfast were wonderful, so we went back for lunch. Sadly disappointing: the baguette tasted like a chewy piece of wonder bread, the croque monsieur had really tasteless ham, and the lentil soup was watery and bland.

The Fraisier cake balances velvety cream, soft sponge, and the best strawberries, creating a dessert that is both refined and deeply satisfying. No other Fraisier in the area comes close.
We first found French Delights when I hosted an Amazing Race event, where the kids made dumplings and Madeleines, it was so fun. We since have gone back regularly for their mushroom quiche and pastries. It is a little piece of Europe tucked in Encinitas. Oh, and don't forget to try the amazing hot chocolate.
