This place is odd. My elderly mother and I arrived at 9:29 am and they told us they were about to close. We were shocked and have never heard of a restaurant that stops serving breakfast at 9:30 in the morning. They still allowed us to order so we put our order in quickly. Mom ordered pancakes that were huge and fluffy but had absolutely no flavor. I ordered a ham and cheese omelette that was good. When it came time to pay, we were aware of their cash policy but were short on the cash ($48 for two breakfasts-steep!) so I ran to the ATM. Paid our bill and closed the place down with the staff by 10:00 am. Won’t go back because of the strange hours, mediocre food, and strange staff. They seemed put out they had to serve one additional table before they closed at 9:30, but we were thankful they allowed us to put in an order because we were hungry. Yin/yang experience for us.

Food had a lot of egg shells in it. Fruit had mold on it. Service was not with a smile or even polite. I will never go back here again!

Excellent food and service. Very kind and friendly staff. They only accept cash. I had breakfast there on my 60th birthday and they gave me a delicious waffle, It made my day!

I walked in with my family and we were a part of 7. We were placed in two separate tables which was fine, but when I asked nicely of a table of two if they would mind moving over a table as there was two more empty tables of two(keep in mind they only had gotten their drinks). I was ok if they said no but I thought I would ask. A Caucasian lady who looks like the owner/manager spoke to me rudely and to her own worker asking if we were harassing the customers sitting down. I explained to the owner I was asking if they would be so kind as to letting us use the table and gave me attitude and said you need to sit where you were seated. She then rolled her eyes and began disrespecting her employee stating why would you let them ask them.

Used to be our breakfast place when coming to Carmel. Well we returned today and this was nothing like what we remembered. Sadly, Katy’s place is trying to be an elevated, family-friendly boutique spot, it is actually no better than a low-end chain breakfast joint. Saw them warming up a sauce in the microwave and juices used to be fresh squeeze….now for $8 each and tastes like from concentrate. not kid friendly, no crayons or place mat to color. Plastic cups to serve It has jumped the shark! Unfriendly staff, unwelcoming! This will be out last time sadly!

⭐ 1 star – You’d have a better time eating cardboard with a side of attitude

Katy’s Place? More like Karen’s Place, where the food is an insult and the service is an endurance test.

Let’s start with the “hostess”—an older, heavyset white lady who apparently moonlights as the gatekeeper of misery. She was rude, arrogant, and condescending, treating us like we were trespassing on her personal fiefdom rather than customers keeping the lights on. If eye-rolls and sighs burned calories, she’d be an Olympic athlete.

Now onto the food. Imagine stale hospital cafeteria slop, but twice the price and half the flavor. Eggs that could pass for rubber stress balls, pancakes with the texture of damp sponges, and bacon so limp it probably needed therapy. Honestly, I’ve had more satisfying meals from a gas station hot dog roller.

Service? Picture trying to flag down a ghost—if you’re lucky, someone might appear to ignore you. We waited forever just to order, forever again for the food, and an eternity for the check. At one point I considered starting a new life there out of sheer necessity.

Pro tip: skip this place and grab literally anything else. Your taste buds (and your sanity) will thank you.

The food was not very good and was overpriced. I ordered pecan pancakes and it was just two huge pancakes with pecans sprinkled on top for $22. They don’t accept credit cards, which is annoying. Orange juice is out of a jug from the grocery store. And the server tried to overcharge us by $6 with a line labeled H2, which was presumably an attempt to charge us for tap water. The inside of the restaurant is very tired with gross plastic table clothes and ancient chairs. We ended up paying $60, and I didn’t even order coffee. Huge ripoff.

Does not take credit cards. Does not take credit cards. Does not take credit cards.

This place is super snobby, they will not separate checks and it's cash only. The food is decent but the way they treat you makes you feel like they are doing you a favor for just being there. There is plenty of good places to eat in Carmel that treat you like a paying customer leaving you with the feeling of appreciation for supporting there business, Katy's place does the opposite. I will not come back and I do not recommend anyone support this entitled business.

Incredible for breakfast! Love the diner feel. The huevos rancheros were SO flavorful! And we had the peanut butter pancakes plus chocolate chips, so good!!! Highly recommend. They’re cash only, atm around the corner

*I would agree with some other reviews, the service could be better. Our waiter maybe said 3 words to us. The good food saved the day

Avoid this place – total tourist trap.

This was one of the worst dining experiences I’ve had. First, be aware that this place is cash only, they don’t allow split bills, and refuse to provide an invoice — which is suspicious and likely a way to evade taxes. I sincerely hope local authorities take a closer look.

The service was incredibly poor. They messed up my order, charged me for an item I never ordered, and then made a huge fuss about removing it — even though it was clearly their mistake.

The food quality is subpar, definitely not worth the price. On top of everything, I accidentally left my sunglasses on the table, and the server, who clearly saw them, chose not to return them. I only got them back because another customer pointed them out as I went back to correct the bill at the cashier.

This place survives off unsuspecting tourists. Don’t fall for it. There are far better places around with honest practices and decent food.

Disappointed they would not allow our dog on the patio, most restaurants do these days.
