Busy brunch place with plenty of outdoor and limited indoor seating and clean restrooms. Order at the counter. Enjoyed the mushroom breakfast tartin; the banana matcha and cinnamon cruffin didn't wow me but I would return to try other items on the menu

Brass Bird Coffee & Kitchen is usually my go-to spot whenever I’m in Carpinteria, which made today’s experience especially disappointing.
I purchased a bag of coffee beans along with a cup of the same coffee. After tasting the brewed coffee and realizing it wasn’t to my liking, I asked the cashier if I could return the coffee beans just purchased 10 minutes ago. She initially said yes, but after checking with the manager—who spoke in front of me—the response was simply, “No, we don’t accept coffee bean returns,” with no explanation, alternative solution, or acknowledgment of me as a customer.
I understand that stores have their own policies, but the way this was handled felt dismissive and not in line with the level of customer service I’ve come to expect. A brief explanation or a more considerate response would have made a big difference.

Make sure you check “pick up” order prior departing the cafe. Mine grilled chicken was a joke for $7, few inedible stable pieces , really ?!
They exchanged it for bigger portion of chicken but now it was undercooked ( still ok but needed just a bit more cooking time)
And salad for $15 is a joke too, so overpriced.
Coffee and ricotta muffin were ok.
Sitting area outside and inside is very nice. Service is good too but they need to do better on food.

Nice place. I dont understand why they want $8 for an espresso though. 4 shots only. Not a mixed drink.
I had a breakfast BLT and a black coffee it was delicious, and the service was friendly and quick.

Bad service, manager is rude and not willing to help with my situation there is definitely better choices in town but an employee presentation as well. It sucks because it is a nice location but service sucks.

Update: We still love it! Even more now that they bring the drinks to the table. Loved everything about it. The atmosphere is cheerful and refreshing. The staff are genuinely happy we were there. A warm and friendly welcome to everyone. Made us feel valued and at home.
You order at the counter and take your drinks to your table and they bring the food to you. I had a honey lavender latte and breakfast sandwich. Both were perfect! My friend had regular coffee and said it was the best she's had in town. I can't remember what she ordered, but it was different from mine and she loved it.
They have very comfortable seating outside where there is a fountain and firepit. The bathroom was immaculate. There is some parking in the back and street parking is easy too. The assistant Mgr was highly visible, very friendly. You could tell they all take pride in work. Something so rare these days. We can't wait to go back.

Brass Bird Coffee & Kitchen in Carpinteria is an absolute gem. The moment I walked in, the staff was warm, welcoming, and incredibly polite — even with my pet rabbit, who they treated with so much kindness. The coffee is excellent, the food is fresh and flavorful, and the whole place has a cozy, relaxing vibe. It’s easily one of the best spots in Carpinteria for a great breakfast or brunch. Highly recommend stopping by!

Had a great Sunday breakfast Brass Bird. Just off Linden. Pleasantly surprised at the range of options for breakfast and lunch! We brought our two big dogs, no issue, and the staff brought out a water bowl for them without even asking. The huevos rancheros was one of the best I’ve ever had. As was the ginger lemon muffin! Even has beer and wine. Highly recommend Brass Bird for a casual eat in/take out restaurant in Carpinteria!
