Best tamales period. Anytime I come close to Carpinteria, we stop. I've been purchasing tamales here for over 20 years and hope to for 20 more.

I'm going to be starting to Post places that just wow me as I go to a lot of places I'm being More Strategic about my restaurants I post ... That said this place really did while me I took my family camping in this beautiful small town and this place had the most amazing breakfast Enchiladas Is soup and tamales They have a bakery with Mexican sweet bread. The prices are very reasonable and cheap But the taste is very expensive I was absolutely wild by this place you will be too it's definitely worth the drive.

A lot of the problem here was the young woman working behind the counter. She was rude, quiet to the point where it seemed intentional (we could hear the older woman serving other customers better than her), and when I had to go back to check on a coffee order she all but threw the creamer at me from behind the window. It really has been a very very long time since I've had such abysmal customer service. It was the kind of experience that leaves a dark mark on your day.

The key lime empanadas were weird with a filling texture similar to glue. My kid reports that the jello was good so I guess that's a win.

The breakfast tamales were fine. A standard tamale with an egg on the side (not on top as advertised). We ordered chorizo and got beef.

The atmosphere was probably tainted a bit by the young woman. The wait was very long. Especially for what is essentially heating up a tamale and putting an egg on it. I think it would have been nice otherwise. When we came in to scope it out the night before it was lovely.

I'd skip this place. Reyes Market down the street and around the corner is friendlier, cheaper, has more things, and has a lovely shady courtyard.

This is my second time here at like five in the morning and they are amazing. The ladies are so sweet. There’s a lot of working gentlemen in the morning and they just stay out of the way she’s recommended special treats additional condiments, napkins spoons packed up my order made me a special blend of coffee absolutely amazing. Can’t wait to stay in Carp again and come visit.

The nicest staff and super helpful. I had no idea what half the pastries were. Thankfully we sampled a bunch of them and they were absolutely delicious. The breakfast Torta Bolillo on its fresh baked roll that morning was so good. The roll might’ve been my favorite part! I think we’ll be going back here for breakfast tomorrow. It’s different from your typical American-style breakfast fare and so darn good.
