Tyler's Donuts is a no nonsense donut shop in Carpenteria, CA. No frills, no IG interest wall. Just serving up classic donuts, croissants (including hot bakes), and basic coffee drinks. They are located in an unassuming shopping center anchored by an Albertsons grocery store.

The donuts and all the baked goods are good ole fashion bakery made. The donuts had a traditional, classic taste. They also specialize in croissants. They have traditional $3.25, fruit filled $3.25, and hot bakes $6. Puffy, golden flaky layers. The croissants are huge, the size of my hand. Rustic looking. Not perfect looking but that just adds to the house made look.

The odd thing I noticed though was the menu board. They listed prices for everything except the donuts. Where are the donut prices? They ought to change that to get some prices on the menu or labeled on the trays. Something. Having those prices listed would help out the staff deal with the same questions and sticker shocked customers.

Good croissants, friendly service. Not much to the inside but great for to go orders. The ladies who have helped me have been very appreciative and kind here.

Donuts are very old, almost stale.
They are almost never open during posted hours. Beware.

Trash. Me and my friend paid 7 dollars for 2 watermelon arizonas. On the bottle it shows 1 dollar each and the arizona didnt even taste like arizona. Bring back the old owners.

BEST DOUGHNUT I EVER HAD.

Get the glazed buttermilk ones fresh out of the oven. Texture is halfway between coffee cake and normal doughnut. What a sweet buttery paradise and a kind man running the place. Also only $2!!!

Doris tripped. I went to have abuelita chocolate “ little grandma” Doris “ The manager/ owner” stated that she run out of it and there were only serving chocolate from the standard machines- I told her that in that case I will go to Starbucks and will come back to buy doughnuts- my sister was with me. Starbucks was temporarily closed. We returned to Tyler’s-I told Doris that will get the hot chocolate even though it was not my favorite one. She said in an dislike way “ we don’t need Starbucks, our business has plenty of customers, and if you want Starbucks go to Starbucks” she walked away from the registered where my sister and I were waiting to be helped, but she didn’t come back to give us service. We left momentarily, I returned requesting her manager/owner phone number . She stated that she was the manager and there wasn’t anybody else above her. She tried to change the story of what went on while other customers were listening . But my sister , her and I know what really happened .

I started getting the apple fritters here in 1974. Here this week at the state beach campground from Bend, OR on a long road trip. Nothing much has changed, except ownership and prices. The fritters still melt in your mouth.

If you want to eat a raw croissant, it's the best place, and if you call and want to let them know so that someone doesn't get sick and they don't accept it, that's the best. I didn't want my money back. I just wanted to let them know because there can always be mistakes, no one is perfect. She only told me {the baker hasn't worked a day so it wasn't raw}, also without mentioning that my stomach started to hurt.

For a donut store pretty good. I don't think donuts are the highlight tho. There are other little pastries that are way better than the donuts here. Only problem was the cashier had absoloutly no idea what was what.
