A true hidden gem in the South Bay. Everything is delicious from the greens to the cornbread and the drinks. There hasn’t been a single thing we’ve ordered that we haven’t loved. The staff is so helpful and welcoming. Definitely a new favorite.

Darrow's is a special place. We were greeted with care and attention and had great conversations. Darrow was there to tour us through the menu and share some of their restaurant's history. He used to have a restaurant in MidCity...wish I could go back in time to eat there, too.

Because the food HITS. The hurricane is the best I've had outside NOLA. We bought a little of everything and the GUMBO, y'all. The filé is there, the heat is there. So much blue crab. The po' boys are the perfect size to still fill up on jambalaya. We gotta know what they put in the (chicken and) waffles. And the GREENS were my favorite side, perfect texture and umami flavor without pork.

Mama fussed over our table and gave us everything we needed. Lovely server Brian connected with my nephew with surprised him with a candle for his beignets as the family sang happy birthday. The team treated us like family and we really felt it.

Thank you Darrow's for the perfect comforting and celebratory meal! We all can't wait to come back.

I just had to share a little something about Uncle Darrow’s, or as I know it, Darrow’s New Orleans Grill. I’ve known Norwood, the owner, for over two decades, and after all these years, walking back in felt like coming home. The moment I saw him, it was like no time had passed, and the warmth and welcome were just as genuine as ever.

Now let’s talk about the real star of the show: the food. If you’re a fan of a good shrimp po’boy, you’re going to be in heaven. It’s packed with flavor, perfectly seasoned, and just the right kind of messy. Pair that with the oysters on the side and those Cajun fries dripping in gator sauce, and you’ve basically got a plate of pure joy.

So if you’re looking for a place with real New Orleans soul and a taste that’ll have you coming back for more, Darrow’s is your spot. It’s all about the flavor and the feeling of being part of the family. You’ll walk out happy, full, and already planning your next visit.

They say people from the south are some of the warmest people around and the staff here can prove it! We were greeted so warmly by staff and was even given a sample of the gumbo (which was amazing). We were given a wonderful background about the restaurant and their expertise on new Orlean food (which they can FULLY back up). Amazing environment for busy little ones, no judgmental looks when our toddlers were getting a bit antsy. They emphasize that there are no customers, only family.

Now onto the food, gumbo was amazing! Catfish was not fishy at all and not overly breaded. Chicken and waffles were so amazing my picky 6 year old ate it up! Greens were seasoned perfectly and did not taste bitter at all. Also cornbread was my favorite, I could eat a whole pan of them and not feel gulity because my heart was just so happy eating it. Beignets were so comforting and dense (not a hollow rip off). Peach cobbler was amazing as well!

We were asked how the food was and even got to chat a bit with staff throughout our meal. This is a family business and you will definitely feel like you're part of this beautifully hospitable family. Thank you for the wonderful food and turning our rough day into an amazing one! We will be back again! ❤️

The only place around that has real southern food and it is scrumptious!
Come with an empty belly and pace yourself because you will love everything you have here. But you absolutely HAVE to try their cornbread… it’s the best and all of California… try and you’ll see 😉
In addition, the owner and the staff are super friendly, helpful, and will make you feel like family. Sometimes they even have live music and it is a great ambience!
