I’m going to start off by saying this was my second time coming here first time had no complaints how ever I went to hitching post tonight on me and my boyfriends anniversary and we’re seated and greeted the server was very nice then my boyfriend got his shrimp cocktail with a long black hair in it they traded it out but the server didn’t say much we got our steaks which were delicious but fries tasted old and were pretty soggy by the time we got them went to take a bite of bread and it was hard as a rock also I am not sure if this is just here but I saw the chief touching everything with his bare hands we sat right next to the window so steaks French fries skewers everything had been touched then he started wiping his forehead for which I assume was to get rid of sweat not once did I see him walk away to wash his hands I was so disappointed this evening
If you're on the central coast, don't believe the hype... The Hitching Post is hands down the best steakhouse in the area.

OMG it was amazing. Best meal, my ribeye was cooked perfectly as was my wife's Filet Mignon. Watch them cooking the steaks over a wood BBQ right there in the restaurant. We had been told about a steakhouse, The Hitching Post, in the sleepy little town of Casamilia. The meals include a relish dish, salad, iced tea or coffee, French bread, and ice cream. Oh, this is our new place to go. Reservations are a good idea.
Food was good. Our filet mignon, excellent and all the accompaniments. But very loud restaurant and very dark. Could hardly read our menu. Service was rapid. We had four different waitresses and they were so quick to serve other customers we felt neglected...

Absolutely the best food near swift Absolutely love the service always food.
Our favorite local restaurant and our favorite date night spot. The food is amazing (the picture attached is how my plate looks after every meal, sorry forgot a before picture), the owner and staff are friendly and attentive and will work with you if you have food allergy issues like I do. Highly recommend and can't say enough good things about this local gem. Order the artichoke, trust me.

Perfection with a side of exceptional service! Our server Amanda had been working there 18yrs and it shows. Her passion for the restaurant just shines. Her son is one of the bussboys and I watched him move a glass an 1/8 of an inch to be perfect. Now for the food... nothing short of amazing. Quite possibly the best steak dinner experience I have ever had. We were lucky enough to be sat at a table with a view of the chef and iconic Santa Maria grill which provided extra unexpected entertainment. Thank you for a most wonderful evening... will definitely be back!

Amazing food and the absolute best service I've ever had on the central coast. My wife agrees 100 percent about the food and service.
The atmosphere was good, but it wasn't what we expected. It was very loud inside. It wasn't bad, just not what we expected for such an expensive dinner.
The only thing I don't recommend is the French Fries.

First time in "THE HITCHING POST" this place was recommended by a friend. I had to put this place to the test. I ordered a t bone steak, which was marvelous and perfectly cooked. The taste was rich, and it met almost all my expectations. It had a little bit of chewy sections of meat. The customer service was incredible . I could not believe that the prices in the menu were so affordable. They include a salad, veggies, coffee, and a small yet delicious shrimp cocktail. There is plenty ty of parking.
