No bathroom for customers. $5 plain bagel. Worn down decor. Bummer because the coffee is good and the space has been such a staple.

Classic coffee place: this is a staple of the community in Castro Valley and has been there for many years. When there are so many corporate options to choose from, this place offers an alternative: have something local. It is well worth the visit if you are looking for a coffee spot to enjoy a pleasant morning with some friends away from the busy corporate business.

I wasn't going to leave a review, but the bag i got my bagel in had some cream cheese on it, which got on me and parts of the interior of my car. On top of that, coffee was sub-par and i paid close to six dollars for a costco bagel and cream cheese. Not impressed

Bodi's Java in Castro Valley is like that quirky friend who always has a new surprise for you. I popped in for a coffee, and I swear I ended up having a conversation with the barista that felt like I was discussing life, the universe, and everything. The caffeine might be strong, but the conversation was stronger! The décor is what I'd call "cozy chaos." It's like a jigsaw puzzle where every piece is a different shape and color, but somehow it all fits together in a wonderfully bizarre way. And don't get me started on their pastries - they're like edible stand-up comedy, a delightful twist on the classics. The reason for not giving them the full five stars? Well, sometimes I just want a straightforward cup of joe without the existential pondering, but who am I to deny Bodhi's its unique charm?

I love that this place is a mom and pop shop and it's a great place to grab coffee. However, the bathrooms don't work so I'm not able to wash my hands or use the restroom which is kind of crazy for a coffee shop since coffee makes you use the restroom. I also think their food is slightly overpriced.

Coffee, bagel with cream cheese, tables and WiFi were ok. Restrooms, however, were not available even for paying customers, so I had to walk all the way up to Safeway to use one. This is unforgivable for a Coffee Shop. Please make one available, or I'll have to pick another Coffee Shop for my needs.

Ordered the lox bagel, ham and cheese crossaint and latte. It was just ok overall. A little pricey though. It is a mom and pop store though.

Good local coffee spot, not sure if it's a new place or not (seems like it changed ownership not that long ago). Ordered a latte, coffee w/steamed milk and two sandwiches. The bacon, pepperjack, and egg sandwich I had was pretty good, but definitely not worth the price tag due to its size. Four items ran me like $32, so certainly not cheap (or that's just market rate now, sadly). The coffee w/steamed milk was good and very hot, but that is a fairly basic drink, so hard to mess that one up. I saw a bunch of local people hanging out inside, so I like it has a small town appeal. But not sure I would be in a huge rush to come back to the sandwich pricing (coffee pricing seemed reasonable).

Oh man, what a disappointment! My husband and I used to frequent this place (daily!) 20+ years ago when the original owner (Dale) was operating it. We moved away, but visited several times when there was a new owner; the quality and service remained comparable. We had heard that it had since changed hands once again, and today we decided to get our morning lattes there. Big mistake! We placed our order with a very nice young person at the register and then... nothing. We waited. We could see and hear an older couple in the back (cleaning? washing dishes?), but they didn't emerge for another 10 minutes to begin making our drinks. The drinks were nice and hot, but that's really the best thing I can say about them. The lattes were bitter and watery - as if the espresso shots were pulled too long. I tried my best to drink mine and got about 2/3 the way through (because my parents taught me waste was BAD). My husband got almost half-way through his. Needless to say, we won't be going back.

Stopped by the other day, got a black coffee and a bagel with egg, bacon, cheese. It was excellent. The coffee was perfect, no additives required.

Everything about this place screens cheap owners. The minimum card transaction is $5, the bathroom is "out of order", and the lights in the back are unscrewed from the fixtures when customers leave the tables over which the lights hang. Support local businesses that deserve your support, not places like this.
