“We visited on Valentine's day. which happened to be there one year anniversary. food was delicious! the pasteles were just like eating our families homemade pasteles. I wish I would have ordered more to bring home. I'll be back!”

“Real, honest BBQ. I had the 2 meat combo with brisket, ribs, mac & cheese and potato salad. Best BBQ I have had since I was in Austin Texas! The owner was working hard with the rest of his employees and was the one to take my order. He seemed very nice and was helpful. I work within walking distance so I can see myself becoming a regular here. Canyons is an excellent addition to Castro Valley's food scene.”

“The food is awesome, the service is nice. The fish is very fresh and the rice blends in perfectly, very high quality. One thing they need to improve on is to be more careful with allergies. They need to ask to put rolls from the same order in the same container, especially those containing mayo. This is mainly because people are allergic to egg and mayo has egg so the mayo from one roll can easily contaminate another roll if put in the same box. Otherwise the food is awesome. “It was my first time coming to Lucca Deli, and I had a great experience. The sandwiches are delicious, and the quality of the ingredients really stands out. One of the workers, Biduri, was especially helpful. They took the time to explain all the different ways I could customize my sandwich and made the whole ordering process easy. “I've been in search of a great chocolate chip cookie for some time now and I think I've finally found a winner at Bake it up with their Brown butter chocolate chip cookie! I've also tried the chocolate chip banana bread which is also 🔥 and the serving, enough for 3 people. They also have croissants, cakes and coffee. It seems every time I come to Castro Valley a new bakery has taken over the store front. I really, really hope this one makes it.”

“Ordered a simple large pepperoni pizza and it arrived in 36 minutes. Not bad, not great. But the wait was worth it in the end. The pizza is absolutely on point. I love the way the cheese is melted and the top layer of cheese is crispy, but not overly crispy. Tastes great and you can tell it’s hand made and very fresh. Will definitely order again.”

“We had food catered & delivered from them. All the food was authentic, super tasty, well packaged and presented. Everyone loved it & mentioned multiple times. I recommend them wholeheartedly. We ordered Chicken Curry, Dal Makhani, Paneer Veggie Sabji, Raita, Naan, Rice, Salad & Rose Kheer. Rose Kheer was so yummy. Chicken Curry tasted homemade Punjabi. It was delicious. Paneer Sabji & Daal were also very yummy. Spices were mild. You can't go wrong by ordering from them.”

“I can't believe I haven't written a review for a business my kids and I frequent all the time! We've been coming to Always Yours since it opened. Hands down they have the best drinks, cookies, macarons, cakes, and now salt bread! I always come to get treats for my kid's teachers (for their birthdays, teacher appreciation week, just because, etc.). I've brought friends visiting the Bay Area to this bakery, which they have loved. Always Yours also has fun cup sleeve events, macaron classes and afternoon tea from time to time. We love supporting small businesses and this one is definitely worth supporting!

P.S. with all these drink places popping up in the area...we still think the drinks at Always Yours not only taste better, but also are of higher quality.”

“Lake Chabot is a great place to walk - shorter walks or even the 9 mile very scenic loop around the Lake starting and ending at the Marina Snack Bar/Cafe. Not much of a place to eat through very limited selection - much much less than a 7-11.”

“Great tasting Thai food with approachable pricing. My two favorites are the Pad Thai (great balance of sweet and savory) and red duck curry (bold flavors and great tasting duck). Definitely worth a trip to check out. Mostly street parking or you can find a small lot on the side of the building.”

“Finally, was able to try this location. Small dining-in area but most will take out anyway. I had the combo fried fish platter. It was fantastic, although the fish portion was a bit overcooked but it was still tasty. It also came w/fried oysters and fried prawns with the obligatory french fries side. I took off a star on the food part (for the overcooked fish - it was a sole/flounder-like fish that was probably more than dipped in the frying medium - but like I said, it was still tasty). I still gave a 5-star overall rating. All the rest of the fish was fried/cooked perfectly. They oysters were especially good. I think on my next visit, I'll get oyster platter. The french fries were excellent too but there were lots of them, I couldn't finish them all. They also have poke, sushi/sashimi and that will sampled on the upcoming returns. They're open every day at 11am. I will be back......”

“First time eating at a Loard's location. I was very impressed with the ice cream but more over the customer service was fast and friendly. It was such a nice to stop to such a hectic day. My wife and I were able to have a nice time just to catch our breath. We will definitely be back to this location yeat another 10/10 business in my book.”

“World’s Best Pizza! Great place to grab a quick slice. Or order a whole pie with options of four crust styles, (New York, Sicilian, Grandma or Detroit). Then choose from over 25 different combinations of sauce & toppings! Pizza has never been better than this!”

“Had a great dining experience at Hao Kee in Castro Valley! The food was authentic, flavorful, and reasonably priced. We especially enjoyed the BBQ meats, crispy fried chicken, and the Hainan chicken — everything was fresh and cooked perfectly. The portions were generous, and the menu offered a wide variety of traditional Cantonese dishes.

The staff was friendly and attentive, and the service was quick even during busy hours. If you’re looking for delicious Chinese comfort food and excellent BBQ specialties, Hao Kee is definitely worth a visit. We will be coming back to try more dishes!

It was ready when I got there I recognized the lady's voice and ask her for the manger she told me she was the manager on duty. She asked me if there was something wrong with the order.I told I just wanted to let her boss know how pleasant she was talking to something about her voice . She said thank you and asked me if there was anything else she could do for me . I stop coming to this location because of the service but decided to give it another chance because I live so close. Joan made me change my mind about it so for the last 2 months I have been coming every week. Great employee. I only go in there when I know she is working.”

“Do yourself a favor and get their chimichurri steak wrap with guacamole. Bursting with flavor and veggies, they made it super quickly and it was still pleasantly warm when I got to my classes. The atmosphere is quirky in a good way- reminds me of classic Berkeley restaurants. Can't wait to try their coffee smoothie.”

“General poor service. Milk purchased here often goes bad within three days and long before the expiration date. Manager wasn't interested in why. All kinds of water on the floors from refrigerator and freezer leaks. I tried complaining to corporate but no interest. Out of stock on about 15% of the items I needed but that may be common now days.

I wanted to update my review. I'm happy to say that things have improved at this store. The staff seems more helpful and even a bit happier. They seem to have things in stock now and all the refrigerator and freezer leaks seem to be repaired. I think they put some investment back into the store. Changing my rating from 2 to 4.”

The bagels are great: bready, just chewy enough but not so much that it will hurt your jaw, crisp on the outside. Toothsome, would be a good way to describe them. The cream cheese is always fresh and tasty, Overall, for the area, a very good bagel place. PS Try the crepe with whipped cream and Strawberries, yummy!!”
