“First time having omakase, it was definitely a very good experience despite not knowing what to expect. The chef was very friendly, told us all about the fishes we tried and answered all our questions.

Service was top-notch, never needed to ask for more drinks or anything else. It was all done very well. Overall, very satisfying experience at this location.

Don’t get fooled by its location in a strip mall, this is definitely something I’d want to experience again.”

“I visited the Castro Valley location tonight after the Dublin restaurant closed. This location is excellent, with friendly and attentive wait staff. The food quality is consistently high. We ordered the Italian sausage fettucini and Cajun chicken fettucini with a salad combo, and both pastas were served hot and fresh. My family is definitely committed to returning to this restaurant.”

“Real, honest BBQ. I had the 2 meat combo with brisket, ribs, mac & cheese and potato salad. Best BBQ I have had since I was in Austin Texas! The owner was working hard with the rest of his employees and was the one to take my order. He seemed very nice and was helpful. I work within walking distance so I can see myself becoming a regular here. Canyons is an excellent addition to Castro Valley's food scene.”

“This is a long overdue review. I had a huge party at home in June. I ordered and paid three party trays for the party earlier of the day planning to pick up the food at 3pm. Turned out we had too many food and people didn’t come. So I called ten minutes before 3pm, asking to hold off two party trays. Although they prepared the ingredients already, the noodle and veggies were not cooked yet. I picked up the roasted duck on that Sunday only. I ended up picking up the other two trays on two separate days of the following week. I’m so grateful to them being so flexible and understanding. The staff was so kind. Food was delicious. This is my go-to place from then on for party trays.”

“Came in last Sunday for brunch- one of the best Eggs Benedict I’ve ever had! Washed it down with fresh squeezed orange juice, side of fresh fruit and out of this world coffee cake. Our server, Jorge was working the bar and gave us such amazing service. Best experience I’ve had at brunch in a long time!! Will be back! Told family and friends how delicious it was too!”

“The food is awesome, the service is nice. The fish is very fresh and the rice blends in perfectly, very high quality. One thing they need to improve on is to be more careful with allergies. They need to ask to put rolls from the same order in the same container, especially those containing mayo. This is mainly because people are allergic to egg and mayo has egg so the mayo from one roll can easily contaminate another roll if put in the same box. Otherwise the food is awesome. We ordered Chicken Curry, Dal Makhani, Paneer Veggie Sabji, Raita, Naan, Rice, Salad & Rose Kheer. Rose Kheer was so yummy. Chicken Curry tasted homemade Punjabi. It was delicious. “Lake Chabot is a great place to walk - shorter walks or even the 9 mile very scenic loop around the Lake starting and ending at the Marina Snack Bar/Cafe. Not much of a place to eat through very limited selection - much much less than a 7-11.”

“5 stars. Diana and her husband run the best chicken operation in the Bay Area, full stop. The Korean fried wings are shatter crisp outside, juicy inside, glazed in a sweet heat savory sauce that nothing else on the West Coast touches.

Everything here is made from scratch, her husband treats every recipe like a trade secret, and you can taste why. Get the wings and the fries. Save room for dessert, imported from Italy.

“Another superb visit to Philz here in Castro Valley. Coral did a great job with my drink. I had the seasonal Iced Apple Cinnamon Roll Cold Brew. Highly recommend this while it is still available. Another employee came around with samples of their Pecan Pie drink and pastries, which was a very nice compliment. I love the atmosphere in here as well, good music and vibes. It makes for a wonderful Sunday afternoon.”

“General poor service. Milk purchased here often goes bad within three days and long before the expiration date. Manager wasn't interested in why. All kinds of water on the floors from refrigerator and freezer leaks. I tried complaining to corporate but no interest. Out of stock on about 15% of the items I needed but that may be common now days.

I wanted to update my review. I'm happy to say that things have improved at this store. The staff seems more helpful and even a bit happier. They seem to have things in stock now and all the refrigerator and freezer leaks seem to be repaired. I think they put some investment back into the store. Changing my rating from 2 to 4.”

“I had a really great experience at this Taco Bell! The service was friendly, fast, and professional. I needed to use the restroom, and an employee immediately opened the door for me instead of making me wait. He was very pleasant and helpful.
