“A gem of a restaurant tucked away in Castro Valley. Took my mom here to celebrate her birthday and had a lovely experience. The chef and the staff were all super attentive and kind, and even provided some complimentary sips which were like nothing I’ve ever tasted. This was our first proper omakase together, but it won’t be our last. Everything was prepared masterfully, super fresh, and very tasty. We even opted for a couple of extra bites which were well worth it. Dining like this is a nice treat once in a great while.”
“Came here for dinner last night with a family since we were craving Indian food and we were not disappointed! We got the garlic naan, orange fig tikka the butter chicken, and the chicken tikka masala. Everything was deliciously hot and fresh. We were happily surprised. portions were very affordable and Can't wait to come back and try more food!”
“The food is good and the service is pretty fast. You have to order food and then the food is brought out to you. We tried the kalua pork hash, ube latte and mochiko chicken and pandan waffle. The food was very tasty. The mochiko chicken was perfectly crispy and the waffle has a great pandan flavor as well. We were not a huge fan of the ube latte, you can't really taste the ube.”
“Tonight I had one of my favorites: salt and pepper scallop with green beans. Perfect balance of salt and spice. Wonderfully crunchy.Love the sushi rolls here, and it's a great menu for folks who have dairy or gluten issues.”
“Love how elegant they've made this basement space - it's always a nice respite from the outside world. Enjoy their flights and great beer selection, and the popcorn is always tasty. Peer into the heart of deliciousness with the sous vide cheesecake, made of goat cheese with graham cracker crumbs and Irish whiskey dulce de leche. Quite tasty! But I admit, I was sad to see it served in jar form versus a slice. I probably should have guessed that from the "sous vide," huh?”
“Served fast, top quality meat. I had the brisket sandwich and the meat melted in my mouth. Corn bread was good. My husband had the ribs, he absolutely loved them. Beans and potato salad also good. This is a class act done very professionally inside and out.”
“Food is consistently good. Service has always been great but varies when the crowd is packed. Ambiance has not changed in many years. But, we come here for the food be it lunch or dinner. Get the 'boat' if you have a small hungry group. Always pleased.two thumbs up.”
“This is a mainstay of the Castro Valley Boulevard restaurants. It is a fairly typical Mexican restaurant with all of the menu items you would expect. The service is good, the restaurant is spacious and clean, and I've never had an issue. I strongly recommend the spicy enchiladas if you can handle a bit of spice, it's delicious and will test your mettle. The bar serves up some pretty darn good margaritas, and the noise level in the restaurant is quite low, so it's a good spot for a nice family dinner and conversation without being annoyed by annoyingly loud music or bad acoustics.”
“I had a pork rice bowl and got the two popular ramens for my cousins. My cousins loved it. I loved it -- especially with the spicy red pepper seasoning condiment I put on it.The cook / counter person -- she was helpful and kind.”
“I happened to go to Castro Valley Marketplace today. I walked by and The sushi at Akemi looked fresh. The young lady at tge front said hello and asked if I had any questions about Akemi. I asked about the eel and some rolls. She was courteous and I ordered some delicious made-to-order sushi. The chef was prompt, professional in attire, and just as courteous as the young lady in front. I tasted the dragon roll. Delicious. Fresh. Beautifully presented. I'll be back soon! Nice experience with courteous polite service and delicious fresh sushi--Excellent!”
“We had a great and relaxing night with friends at China Garden this Friday. They are now serving hot liquors, cocktails, wines, draft beers and bottled beers. They also provide nonalcoholic drinks like several boba milk tea, Thai tea, espresso and smoothies, etc. The restaurant has 3 different dinning areas, left hand side is traditional Chinese style with round tables for large and medium groups. Middle dinning area also having 2 round tables and couple square tables, it seems like a pick up area coz is nearby the cashier. Right hand side is bar area with wooden rectangle tables, It also has 3 TVs which were playing sports game. We are party of 20 (12 adults and 8 kids), we picked two round tables on the traditional area. One table for adults and one tables for kids. This setup was perfect for us to gathering. We ordered couple appetisers, soups, a lot of main dishes and noodles. The foods were always delicious and stable. The staffs there are friendly and attentive. This is such a good place for gatherings.”
“My Jackie-bee and I had a perfect time here at iSuhsi. The workers were friendly and kind, and the food was flavorful and tasty! It was such a great date night for two exceptionally hungry guys! Here was our itinerary for the night. 1. Arrive at iSushi (in Castro Valley) 2. Eat Sushi, specifically the 007 roll, among others 3. Pay for said Sushi, and we went off on our night! Oh, my Jesus, and what a fantastic night it was. As the sushi arrived, it was more than obvious that the fish had been placed atop the rice- like a Bald Eagle would its nest. Resting perfectly. After each bite of delicious sushi, you could practically feel the flavor particles- like butterflies, land on each and every taste bud like a butterfly would to a flower. So delicious. All in all, would recommend it.”
“Rumi is as good as it gets around here. Coffees are great and the food is great. My family lives coming here too. I brought my cousins here and they loved it as well. My kids love the smoothies. Smaller place, but all of the patrons are deep in their converatiin and enjoying their time at Cafe Rumi. I hope to come here for years to come.”
