“This is a great Japanese restaurant. We had a great time. The food was excellent. The atmosphere is quaint and romantic. You can sit at wooden tables with chairs or sit on a mat at authentic Japanese style tables. I highly recommend this restaurant for fun casual dining or for a romantic date night.”
“Enjoyed clean and fresh tasting sashimi with delicious sides. Had to try the vegetarian okonomiyaki with bonito flakes mayo and unagi sauce. Salmon and avocado sushi roll was yummy. Definitely would come back to visit this quaint and tasty Japanese restaurant in my neighborhood!”

“I’ve been coming to Angry Fish for years. A small but, wonderful hidden gem on a busy Main Street in San Leandro. Twin brothers who look alike, JACKIE & VINCENT remembered our orders & drinks immediately as soon as we’re seated. Their sushi rolls are hand rolled, nigiri was fresh, sashimi is outstanding, service is quick and accurate. Come early and hungry for the best experience! Thank You Angry Fish!”
“This place is a staple in the Washington Manor area. I'd guess that the service is what people come for. They're always super nice and they're never so crowded that you get overlooked or forgotten. It's an old family/meeting spot for us around here so I fully support them.”

“We are new to the area and so far have had pizza from Bluebirds twice. First time my husband went and picked it up, the second we ate in. This is some of the best pizza we have ever had and my husband is from Philly. I’ve had pizza in NYC and this was better. Few tables inside but worth eating in, they have an unusual selection of beers and non alcoholic drinks. If you have never had Bluebirds, you have to eat there.”

“Good place to get a solid burger and breakfast. What makes this place stand out is Angel who is the manager. He is able to handle a long line of customers with minimal help. Always cooks the food consistently so you know what to expect. Has a good personality that is friendly, calm and efficient.
What Nations management can do to improve is to make sure he has adequate staff so he isn't overworked. It's sad to see him working all the time and sometimes with only 1 person or by himself. When I randomly go, this guy seems to be here all the time day and night.
The thing with Nations is that there is barely any marketing. If a store opened would have no idea and if Nations went bankrupt or closed, wouldn't know either. Also the prices are pretty high for what you get and there isn't a wow factor with Nations food. Pies are probably the best thing though.”
“Harry's Hofbrau is the best restaurant in San Leandro that I've been to bar none!”
Outdoor Dining
“If you crave an old fashion burger complete with iceberg lettuce this place is for you. Today was my first time there and I went with the cheeseburger, fries and a chocolate shake. The burger was good. Not great but honest. Gave it 7.5. The crinkled fries were mid. Pretty sure they were frozen. I didn't eat em all. Needed salt. The shake was decent and you get a large. Right there i knew it wouldn't be the best shake. For 20 bucks plus tip it was ok. I don't think i got their best. Next time I'm trying the teriyaki burger and chicken. It's a small, side of the road joint that's so close to being incredible.”
“This hidden gem in san leandro offers amazing flavors with great quality, the service is spectacular, short wait for the food, they also serve lunch all day which is great for those getting off work in the early morning, not sure what they put in the food but be careful cause it will have you coming back for more. Definitely recommend.”
“I kept wondering if Mrs Craig Vanessa was really an expert trader like they say, that she is not a scammer like the others, then I contacted her and I was shocked and amazed that with just $1,500 I invested, Mrs. Craig Vanessa helped me managed my account and after 7 Days of trading, I made my first withdrawal of $16,700. I'm here to testify the good work of her after she made a good profit for me in my investment. She's reachable via WhatsApp with the number on her Facebook: Mrs Craig Vanessa”
“Menu selections are varied and excellent. The minestrone is a very good specialty. Portions are generous. Steaks are excellent and generous in portion size. Breakfast and egg dishes are always consistent. Service is cheerful. Salads are great especially with an Elio’s Greek style dressing..”
“5 stars! Every time I visit Rocky's Charcoal Grill, it feels like coming back to one of those classic old-school burger spots you just can’t pass up. The owner/cook makes everyone feel right at home with his friendly attitude and welcoming service. The burgers are always delicious, the milkshakes are amazing, and the prices are incredibly affordable compared to most places around. Great food, great people, and a true local gem in San Leandro!”
“I ordered here last week for my whole family. They made their meat so soft compared to other restaurants. Also, they have excellent customers service. They all are very nice and friendly. I only tried Grill Porks and Shrimps Vermicelli. I’ll definitely come to try noodle soup next time. I highly recommend this restaurant. ❤️🥰🍲🍛🥢🍴”
“I love this restaurant!! This place is probably my favorite restaurant I've ever been to. They have so many options and everything on the menu is delicious! Their vegan pies are amazing!! They have an extensive brunch menu with the flexibility of adding a pancake or french toast side dish to your order. I love sweet and savory for brunch but I can never finish those huge breakfasts so this place is perfect for me!! On top of that the cafe is so cute and the staff is so friendly. I loved it so much I went twice during my one week stay!”
“i love this family owned restaurant. I go so much the owner gave me a discount! the service is incredible the food is fresh and tasty the atmosphere is welcoming I love this place”

“Very good food and excellent customer service you feel really welcomed as you come into the restaurant and the atmosphere feels so good the staff are really nice they even offered us a cold drink on the house because it was hot outside you should definitely come and try this place out”
“This place is delicious! We just tried their pizza and calzone and the food was fresh, fast with very generous portions. If you like crispy, toasty pizza, this place is for you. Also, the spicy ranch is soo good! I definitely recommend and will be coming back. Thank you!”
“Our new go-to for Korean food! Love the authentic feel in this restaurant along with offering a mix of popular and not so well known traditional Korean dishes.
What we’ve tried:
* bossam (grilled pork belly wraps) - DIY, yummy
* cod fish soup - first time to try ever, love it
* galak casserole - another first time to try, very hearty and delicious
Definitely going back here again :)”
“Just went on Wednesday as I was passing through. I didn’t realize that they were open do to the farmers market being right there as well. Went inside and it was beautiful. The staff was friendly and attentive. I ordered the shrimp po boy and it was very good. I will definitely be back.”
“Yes, loud Cantonese and Mandarin spoken, but if you are clear with your English order, you will get good quality dim sum quickly.
Two tiny 2 person table, and a high wall table with 4 tall chairs for sitting, as this place is oriented for to-go. They have several keep-hot boxes to hold many doordash calls, so you do not have to find parking in a medium size lots that often overflows with meal times from other yummy foods places in the plaza.
Get the har gow and shu mai!
I also enjoy their fish congee.”
“Carmelle was so friendly and helpful! Service was on point and the Chicken Pad Thai was delicious!! The house salad with their house dressing is to die for!! Highly recommend.”
“I was there on 3/24/2020, during the morning senior hours. I WAS BLOWN AWAY AND SO HAPPY, SO IMPRESSED WITH SAFEWAY'S CLEAN AND ORGANIZED STORE. Great job Safeway, I normally shop with you anyway, from now on, NOBODY BUT SAFEWAY WILL GET MY BUSINESS!!”

“Usually the food comes out ok. I ordered a Teriyaki Bowl this last time. I haven't ordered one of these in awhile. I always use the app. Unfortunately on the app I couldn't order with extra chicken which I use to do routinely, and egg rolls and their tacos. I prefer the Monster Tacos but they only have them during Halloween. The Teriyaki bowl actually had a decent amount of chicken still would have liked the ability to order extra, but they skimped on the rice of all things. I would have thought the opposite because the rice is the cheapest ingredient. The egg rolls were very good as always.”
“The McDonald’s in San Leandro is definitely a standout for the area. It gets very busy—especially before dinner time, but honestly, it’s packed almost any time of day. That said, the customer service is impressive. The staff does a great job keeping the line moving and making sure everyone is taken care of.
We ordered a Happy Meal and asked about specific toys, and the employee was super patient and helpful. Even with the rush, they made sure we got what we needed. The drive-thru can be a bit hectic, so just be patient—but overall, great experience. I’ll definitely be coming back!”
“Had the Chicken Teriyaki Dinner. The Service was fast and Inviting. Started with the Miso Soup that was really good. The Chicken Teriyaki Came with White Rice and a Salad. The Portions were A Decent Size and Boy was it good. All of It..Every Single Bit..I asked for extra salad dressing and I got it.Very good Miso Dressing...The Service remained great throughout my meal. What a great hidden Spot in the Pelton Center. Can't wait to return. Can't wait to Try something new. Finished off the Night with a Great Iced Coffee Next Door...”
“This place is so fricken good the atmosphere is so great, don’t even get me started on the food, this was the best place I have went to near Oakland, 100% would recommend if your looking for exotic foods like fufu and egusi. 10/10 would recommend ❤️❤️”
“Dishes are fresh and well prepared. Excellent drink list. They have a bar themed portion of the restaurant, booth, seating, and countertop seating. Open till 10 last call for food is 930. Large parking lot behind the restaurant makes it easy to always find a place.”
Takeout Restaurants
“FYI: Not a Malatang spot anymore. Google gotta fix that.
Really really good food.
Orange chicken was nice and crispy, good cuts and well trimmed.
Cumin beef was tasty, well spiced, and had a good amount of fresh ingredients.
Chow Mein was really nice as well. I think it was chicken and minced pork belly. Pork belly was well spiced and the noodles werent too oily. Cabbage had some nice browning on it.
Steamed dumplings were good. I cant think of anything specific to say but definitely tasty and fresh.
Cute place. Definitely a family run place, nice and cozy. Will be my go to when I want Chinese. Highly recommend you give it a try.”
“Had a good experience at this restaurant. Great staff and good food. Vintage style diner in both size and interior. The steak was cooked to the temperature I requested but needed some basic salt and pepper for flavor. Pancakes were really good and how I like them fluffy and moist. The best thing about the pancakes is I didn't have to bath them in syrup, that's how good they were 😁. Will definitely come back and try other menu items”
“The food was delicious! I had a super burrito and two tacos. My girlfriend ordered two tacos and carne asada fries. Honestly I don't remember the meat we got in our tacos but it was so good and the salsa wasn't too spicy but it had a kick. The burrito was so great and very filling. Oh and the cucumber water was so refreshing and my girl liked her drink, I don't remember what it was though.
The service was great. They brought our food out, were attentive to our needs when we needed an extra fork or napkins. And the ambiance is really welcoming. It reminds me of my tias houses when I would visit in Mexico.”

“This place has seriously blown up lately. The fish and chicken sandwich are both really good, but personally I don’t think they’re worth waiting more than 15 minutes for. Your best bet is going early in the morning or closer to closing, and I’d definitely try to avoid weekends if possible because the lines can get wild.
A good rule of thumb: if the line starts around the door, you’re probably looking at about a 15-minute wait. If the line starts stretching toward the other stores nearby, you’re looking closer to a 45-minute to 1-hour wait. At the peak of the hype, I know some people were waiting over 1–2 hours, which is honestly wild. Thankfully, it does seem a little better now that the hype has died down a bit.
What I really love here though is the pineapple bun with butter. Honestly, I think it’s the best one I’ve had in the Bay Area. Unfortunately, because the lines have been ridiculously long the last couple of months, I haven’t been able to grab one lately. By the time I go closer to closing, they’re usually sold out.”
“Hands down the best local pizza spot in town. The owner, Jay, is super personable and puts a lot of soul into his craft. All his ingredients are fresh, never frozen, and of course -- delicious. If you can't quite commit to a whole pizza, he sells them by the slices too! Red Apple Kitchen is a must try! Already can't wait to go back this for lunch this week :)”
“The sushi here is seriously good - fresh ingredients, creative rolls you won’t find anywhere else. The Fuji Roll? Absolutely delicious. Prices are reasonable, and the staff is friendly, even if the vibe inside feels a bit cramped and could use a deeper clean. It’s a small spot, so I’d recommend takeout or delivery over dining in. For the quality of food though, it’s worth it.”
“The food is delicious no matter what you eat, The owner goes above the call of duty to make you welcome! Great hospitality love it !!”

“Nick the Greek is always a spot that's fairly consistent across all of their locations (at least the ones I've been to). It was nice to be greeted when I walked in and the cashier had welcomed me in with a smile. It's been a while since someone welcomed me or my friends into a restaurant with a smile, so this was appreciated. This location also had plenty of seats and since I went during lunch, I could really sit anywhere.”

“Came here with my family and the food is absolutely amazing. Very authentic and amazing salsa. If the salsa is good you know the food Is good. The staff are very attentive and make sure your set while you enjoy your food. Best little family restaurant in the area!!”
“I did a surprise blind door dash delivery from Texas to my grieving family across town where you are locally and they were appreciative, happy and said it was delicious “it made our morning” and “never thought i would be drinking a lavender tea”If we every make it that way I will come try for myself. 🤜🏼🤛🏼 thanks”
“Even After devouring my torta all I could say was “ wow that was fire” over and over… I got half steak and half chicharrón , the steak was juicy and flavorful and the chicharrón was phenomenal and had the perfect crunch to go with the soft bolillo roll, all the toppings combined were perfect.. from 1 to 5 stars ⭐️ I give it 10 stars⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️from the customer service, to the wait time to the flavors ?????”

“Great bar and atmosphere. Was visiting a friend in the area and decided to go after eating Ramon across the street. The bartender did an awesome job with the drinks and had funny convos. Definitely come here for a nice chill spot in San Leandro! Fridays are kareoke nights!!!”
“Quality food, beautifully presented, at a modest price. I love supporting this standalone restaurant that has been here for ages, and is part of Ashland's history.”
“I have been going here for years. They have some of the best rolls in town. I always get the dragon roll, E14th roll, and the crunchy roll. So very yummy 😋”

“They just hosted our annual Post-Thanksgiving Dinner. We were a party of 30. So much amazing food, and the service was wonderful. There are some special dishes we ordered that needed to be pre-ordered. “House Special Crab and Curry Crab” did not disappoint. We will definitely be back to try more dishes when we are in town.”
“You definitely get your money's worth and the food is awesome.
I live in Newark. I drive about 30 minutes to get there but it's worth it. Every time I order something there it's always fresh. I've tried most of their items there, and everything is perfect. Staff is super nice and quick.”
“My family went there for an after gathering for a woman that was well know throughout the Spanish community,Most of us went to school together her children and a lot of other families,it was awesome to be able to se people i haven't seen in years it was pretty emotional we were all invited to the Mama Lupe's Cocina They had a spread for all of us,the food was delicious.I like Mexican food but this was totally delicious Hum Yummy!. First time there for me.But will be back there again, when i go to the Bay .I recommended!.They had to close the restaurant for us!.Talking about celebration of life Was very impressed.”
“My old pal Limney Gilbert got kicked in the mouth by one of Bucktoothed Mary's horses a month ago, and he's had his mouth wired shut since then. This morning they cut the wires! He asked me to bring him a ham sandwich and chips from the Joaquin Deli because he's been drinking all his meals from a straw, and he's ready to chew! It's my first time at the Joaquin Deli and I'll tell you what...it's clean, the ingredients are fresh as can be and the prices are right where they should be! The workers put the customers first, and not because the boss told them too, they do it as if they owned the place! Very refreshing in today's world! 5 stars ☆☆☆☆☆”
“Dropped in for some pho and really enjoyed the meal. The service was really great and friendly. Pho- quite delicious. I liked the quality of the goods, the mint and thai basil leaves were very impressive, so fresh and HUGE and tasted great. This place also served their bowls with limes which is funny because I've seen it becoming rarer, where lemons are being substituted and I'm the former so I appreciated that. The cuts of meat were these nice long strips, high quality.
I also got a banh xeo and that things was awesome. Whoever cooked it did so perfectly... nice crunch on the rim, juicy interior. The batter has coconut milk, so each bite is so flavorful. This was my favorite dish. Again, high quality meats and veggies, and huge! Good stuff. Also their coffee has a great condescended milk to coffee ratio, super sweet and rich yum”
“I’ve just recently discovered ibringdasmoke and I’m glad I did! My first order with them was the smoked brisket…it was so good! I just recently ordered a slab of ribs from them and my friend and I loved it! We got a little sample of the Mexican street corn which was very nice of them. I thought it was ok, but my friend enjoyed it. Their spices and the tenderness of their meats are great as well as their bbq sauce. The meat isn’t overly salty which is great. I have recommended this place to my friends and I will definitely be back!”
“8-Twelve is a true neighborhood gem. It is the kind of place where kids can grab a snack and a fun drink for a reasonable price, and then just relax after school. Even though it is not as close to the middle or high school as some of the other hangouts, it has become one of our favorites.
I appreciate that it has lasted the test of time and I hope it continues to thrive. One of the best parts is that they offer non-caffeinated tea drinks for the kids, which is rare and so thoughtful.
8-Twelve has that welcoming vibe that makes it feel like part of the community.”
“went here the other day for lunch (for the 1st time ever). due to a coworker introducing me to your DELICIOUS sandwiches, you are going to see A LOT MORE!!! Thank you very much! and my one and only recommendation, PLEASE COME AND TRY & SUPPORT! This deli is the real deal & so AMAZING & DELICIOUS! Lastly, the family/ customer service is GREAT!! Thank you again! ✌🏽 ❤ 🥪 😋”

“We had an exceptional experience at the San Leandro BR thanks to their staff member, Paul! He helped us with the purchase of an ice cream cake and went above and beyond providing outstanding customer service! Paul offered us the option of having the cake personalized. We didn’t know that was even possible since it was a smaller size cake. Not only was he able to write Happy Birthday, he even added a name. Astonishingly this young man had beautiful penmanship, AND wrote everything in cursive, SO IMPRESSIVE!!! Thank you, Paul! Your politeness, friendly attitude, and professionalism was so much appreciated!”
“Menu selections are varied and excellent. The minestrone is a very good specialty. Portions are generous. Steaks are excellent and generous in portion size. Breakfast and egg dishes are always consistent. Service is cheerful. Salads are great especially with an Elio’s Greek style dressing..”

“Food was good as usual! I don’t think the waitress want to wait on me as I had to ask for chips&salsa and to bring my water while I wait for my food. When she finally brought me the food , no silverware and napkins. I went to staging area and tore off some brown paper”
“Jose M (store #3774) was our server. He was amazing. Super attentive. Kind. Sociable. And never in a hovering way. He made our dining experience worthwhile. And sadly, made us feel better than we normally feel at an IHOP! He the kind of server you hope to have. Food was good too.”

“Found this cute little cafe and decided to try it out. It did not disappoint! The interior was cutely decorated with cats and plushes. Got the Brown Sugar Crunch Latte and it was amazing! “The food and service was very good. Sweaty and the crew are great. Ordered Bademjan and Falafel for appetizers. For our entrees we had Rack of lamb and Mansaf. The portions are very generous. To end the meal we had Baklava M'hallabiah with Turkish coffee.”
