“Dropped in for some pho and really enjoyed the meal. The service was really great and friendly. Pho- quite delicious. I liked the quality of the goods, the mint and thai basil leaves were very impressive, so fresh and HUGE and tasted great. This place also served their bowls with limes which is funny because I've seen it becoming rarer, where lemons are being substituted and I'm the former so I appreciated that. The cuts of meat were these nice long strips, high quality.

I also got a banh xeo and that things was awesome. Whoever cooked it did so perfectly... nice crunch on the rim, juicy interior. The batter has coconut milk, so each bite is so flavorful. This was my favorite dish. Again, high quality meats and veggies, and huge! Good stuff. Also their coffee has a great condescended milk to coffee ratio, super sweet and rich yum“

“My personal favorite dish is their House special pan fried noodles. The portion of this was insane, this itself can feed 4 people. Love the vegetables, squid, shrimp,…. on top of the noodles. The toppings are cooked with this slightly thick sauce which drenches the fried noodle making it some parts of it crunchy and some of it soft/soggy. I grew up eating this dish and so I’m almost always ordering this dish.

My second favorite dish is their honey walnut shrimp. This is always a hit at every family dinner I have and so I just had to order it. Their shrimp had a bite to it and a bouncy texture. It was cooked perfectly.

They have complementary hot water and hot tea that is self serving. Plenty of room for seating and also very clean. Mostly no waiting time. Plenty of parking“

“They made a great pizza when I was there in 2024. Their pizza was made perfectly and fresh. Wasn't dried out like the pizza place. Their pizza was glistening with the oil of the sliced pepperoni, the way it should look. Keep up the good work.“

“I have stomach aches from laughing. There is an old lady working there. She is really funny and cute and affectionate, her laugh is really funny, when she laughs you have to laugh too. “Moo Bong Ri is one of my favorite Korean restaurants in the area, especially when I'm craving something warm and comforting. Their gukbap is the reason I keep coming back. The broth is rich, flavorful, and comforting without being too heavy, and the portions are very satisfying.

The food always tastes fresh, and the side dishes complement the meal perfectly. The restaurant has a cozy atmosphere, and the service is friendly and efficient.

If you're a fan of Korean comfort food, I highly recommend trying the gukbap here. It's one of the best I've had, and I'll definitely be back for more!“

“I’ve been going to Monster Pho ever since I moved to Oakland five years ago, and it has become my go to spot for pho. I usually keep it simple and order the rare steak pho without adding much because the broth speaks for itself. As someone who has had pho from all over the Bay Area, I can honestly say that Monster Pho has a style of broth that is uniquely their own. It tastes like a family recipe that has been perfected over time. It is rich, comforting, and consistently delicious.

What keeps me coming back is not just the food. The staff has always been friendly and welcoming, and the atmosphere makes you want to stay awhile. As a father of four with kids ranging from a teenager to toddlers, finding places that work for the whole family is important. I’ve been bringing my children here since they were little, and Monster Pho has become one of those special Oakland traditions for us.

I also really appreciate the role they play in the community. They are always supporting local causes, hosting fundraisers, and finding ways to give back. In a city as vibrant and diverse as Oakland, places like Monster Pho matter. They help create the sense of community that makes this city special.

Great food, great people, and a great atmosphere. I’m grateful Oakland has places like Monster Pho, and I look forward to bringing my family here for many years to come.

“I real hole in the wall. No big sign so you have to know.

The best jianbing I've had outside of China. Crispy and not too salty. My wife said it's authentic Tianjin style.

The soy milk was amazing! Very smooth and slightly sweet even though it wasn't sweetened. No burnt taste.

Alas, he was out of tea eggs.

“I ordered the chicken noodle and tomato soup to be delivered. The soup was very good, but the bread was NOT sour dough as expected, it was a cut in half hoagie roll...yuk! This was a HUGE disappointment as I only eat sourdough or dark rye bread. Esp in the bay area where Sourdough is the go to. You need to serve what you say you have. This kind of stuff drives me crazy. It is as if the customer is not going to know...not good!“

The utensils are made from heavy brass and steel and were the most beautiful metal utensils I have ever encountered. “Great little neighborhood spot. One of those fun strip mall eateries that you're so glad to have found. The chicken souvlaki skewers was juicy and just right. The fries are perfectly seasoned, and the kids LOVED to dip them (and the cucumbers from the Prasini Salad) into their tzatziki - definitely order a side of it. Kid friendly in general, and although the atmosphere is pretty straightforward, it is cute and we'll designed. I wish they had dolmades and avgolemeno!“

“Thanh Ky is a public institution. They have the best noodles hands down. My go to order is the number one with soup on the side. I also highly recommend the tender chicken over fried rice. If you're ever craving a hearty noodle dish, this is the place to go to. The food also comes out extremely quickly as well with reasonable prices.“

“Very authentic Cantonese clay pot dishes. Everything came out piping hot. The flavors are spot on. The place is clean and not crowded. Service is fast. The only negative is that the ribs in the pot we ordered were very chewy and the sliced meats in the porridge were also chewy. However all the cured meats and sausages were perfect so we still enjoyed the dishes. Will definitely come back to try another time.“
