“I love this restaurant!! This place is probably my favorite restaurant I've ever been to. They have so many options and everything on the menu is delicious! Their vegan pies are amazing!! They have an extensive brunch menu with the flexibility of adding a pancake or french toast side dish to your order. I love sweet and savory for brunch but I can never finish those huge breakfasts so this place is perfect for me!! On top of that the cafe is so cute and the staff is so friendly. I loved it so much I went twice during my one week stay!“

“Lunched here several times - offerings are light, tasty, and healthy. Coffee drinks are solid. Pretty space with ample seating, good for meetups or solo dining. Moderate noise on the quieter side. A separate communal table area where kids / families gravitate makes it kidfriendly. Largely self-service.“

“The fried chicken salad is perfect. No too much sauce, the right amount of texture. I can’t decide if the size of the nugget or the breading is better. I sat at the bar watching the perfect avocados spooned and cut with remarkable speed for how consistently ripe they were. I overheard at leave 3 people talk about how incredible the burger was, the woman next to me said she “was speechless”. They are pulling this off w/o a grill or a flame or a timer. By sight and very fast. The casual atmosphere is friendly.“

“A new contender for the best kalamata olive bread (4/5 Green Stars). It’s Day 3 of Shelterfest, sponsored by Coronavirus, and I was feeling kinda satisfied (i.e., less guilty than yesterday) after making an earnest attempt to work remotely. So I took myself off for an afternoon stroll and, landing in the vicinity of College and Alcatraz Ave, decided to pick up some bread if there was any to be had. La Farine was quiet and there was plenty of bread left, even at 4 pm. (So pop in to support them if you’re in the area!) I usually get their rustic baguette but this time bought a loaf of olive bread. The servers were super friendly and one asked me if I wanted some free pastries. Ya-ha I did! I scuttled home with my bag of goodies and heated up one of the freebies – a chocolate croissant (toaster oven, bake for 3-5 min). The croissant doesn’t look that amazing, I have to admit, but it tasted wonderful. Buttery, flakey pastry and just the right amount of good quality chocolate. Later I had the bread – I’m a big fan of Semifreddi’s Kalamata olive bread so the bar was pretty high. I have to say that it was up there with my favorite bread – it was a little fuller than the Semifreddi’s loaf, but that wasn’t a bad thing as I sometimes feel that I’m eating a lot of air with the latter. In summary, I can’t believe I’ve never reviewed La Farine before because I’ve gone there many a time. I recommend the three things mentioned above and also their Irish soda bread is really good and pretty authentic. I just found out that La Farine started out in this location in 1977 – almost as old as I am, said Bilbo. I'm also giving La Farine 4/5 "green stars" for social and environmental impact, based on these reasons: • It seems that they use conventional white flour and organic whole wheat flour. • Their website is lacking on information on ingredient sourcing (compared to, say Acme). I’d like to know more about their flour, eggs, butter, chocolate, etc. • La Farine donates leftover products to area food banks and senior centers • They also support Bay Area schools and other local causes • Their bags are made from post-consumer recycled paper and printed with water-based inks. • Most of the menu is vegetarian and some of the breads are vegan. “I was not expecting this to be literally the best cupcake I’ve ever had. I got the chocolate Raspberry and it was so so delicious. It had a yummy cream cheese frosting that is perfectly balanced with tangy and sweet, a yummy raspberry filling that moistens the cake, as well as a rich chocolate cake with a delicious deep flavor! This cupcake made my anti cupcake girlfriend rethink everything she knows about cupcakes.“

“First time trying the local eatery... beautiful food, decor, pricing.. very much practicing safety through Covid which I greatly appreciate. I ordered to go: harira, tagine, the honey cookie with orange blossom ice cream and green tea with mint. It was a comfort food I never knew I was missing. Each bite I couldn’t place the memory but it felt like home. Maybe because everything was made with love? I’ve never had harira before but it went down like grandma made it, tagine... who knew turnips and prunes would delight my taste buds so much, what was that bread?? It was perfect for sopping up the soup and also the tagine juice. Lamb was tender and flavorful. I had a few sips of the tea and decided to save it for tomorrow’s afternoon beverage because it’s a Saturday picnic kind of beverage. I took a nibble of the honey cookie and again, saving for tomorrow’s picnic. I didn’t want to eat it on a full stomach so I could truly, fully enjoy every morsel. “I love this place. Honestly, my favorite thing is their house curry. It tastes like a warm, home- cooked meal. SO so yummy. I keep coming back for more and more of it. I can’t believe no reviews have mentioned it yet. This place is worth visiting just for that curry alone.
The coffee is also spectacular. My go-to is the kokuto latte — perfectly balanced and tasty.
To top it all off, it’s located in the perfect spot— an amazing park filled with amazing people. This place is the best!“

“Excellent banh mi, & must try the smoothies! Tasty, fresh, and not too sweet (no added sugar). They come with soy milk by default (high protein for the lactose sensitive). I really enjoyed the lemongrass beef banh mi. Note, we went here in the summer and it was pretty warm - we stayed for about 30 mins.“

“I wanted to try everything here! Had breakfast pastries, miso chicken bowl, desserts, and lattes and mochas on numerous occasions during my trip to the area. All were wonderful and tasted homemade. Egg tart was so smooth, flavorful, and not rubbery. I want to know their secret to this! My other favorite item is the walnut chocolate chip cookie. Omg so decadent!“
