“I have been wanting to try this place for a while, and I’m so glad I finally did. The food was very fresh and delicious, and reasonably priced for the quality. The braised lamb sandwich had soft flatbread, crunchy herbs and vegetables, a tangy sauce, and perfectly tender lamb. The service was friendly, warm, and the food came out quickly. Fava is a lovely lunch spot and I would recommend it to anyone looking for a pleasant lunch in North Berkeley.“

“Both hands up for this wonderful coffee place I happened to stumble upon, right outside the skirts of Downtown Berkeley. They're located right on the intersection of MLK and University, right behind the Indian restaurant.

This coffee place is honestly a little bit small, so please proceed with caution at all costs. But it really makes you feel cozy at home. They do have upstairs seating, but rather really limited. It will be full at times, and at times, not at all. It depends on the time that you go.

They have a wide assortment of sweet and savory pastries available as well. I got their ham & cheese scone, as well as their speciality drink, their banana cream iced coffee. I love how balanced their iced coffee is with the banana cream, which surprisingly, is made with ACTUAL banana puree made from actual bananas.

The barista who made my drink was very nice and very chill, and served it rather quick. That's what's up!

“This place is the best! All of their pretzels are delicious and inventive (Meyer lemon filling? Lox dill & capers so good you'll laugh at Boichik? Check!). They also have Obatzda, which few people here know. Uli and Sabine are super nice, as is all the staff there. They do a monthly pretzel class that is a lot of fun and will fill send you home with plenty of baked goodies.

We also loved the hand-pulled noodles; you can really taste how fresh they are. For the appetizer, we tried the stuffed eggplant wrapped in a garbanzo bean flour crust. It was really interesting because you couldn't even taste the eggplant! Overall, it's a great spot if you're looking for fresh, healthy food that nourishes you. They were moist, fresh, and distinct in flavor; not just sweet cake with coloring like store bought cupcakes can be. I will be back for more of these gourmet delights. I also enjoyed the quaint, buzzing cafe setting inside the Swan's Market where the Oakland location is located.“

The owner is not that friendly or warm at all and pretty annoying to interact with but I think that the quality of the food is so good that she is completely entitled to act that way. If I was the owner of an old sushi shop on Solano Ave I would most likely act that way too.“

“The cutest little coffee shop attached to the Claremont. The service was impeccable. Attentive, kind, friendly, and warm. The drinks were delicious. Plenty of little snacks for hungry mouths. Games for playing. My wife would get a soy cappuccino in a ceramic mug every morning. I'd get a hot tea with honey, and a chai with almond milk later. Prices were reasonable compared to how much shops nowadays. Excellent shop! Highly recommended!!“

“Freshroll is one of my favorite places to eat in Berkeley. For under $7, you get a HUGE Spring Roll with a bunch of fillings and your choice of meat (or no meat). $1 extra for avocado (worth it) and you can also get an extra side of sauce, but the roll does come with sauce. I cannot recommend the chicken enough. It is the only warm thing about the roll but it is highly seasoned and delicious. These folks get your food out insanely fast and I have been here MANY times and have always received consistent, fresh food.“

“I usually order the basil chicken or the green curries but everything is good there. Be careful if you request spicy, mom in kitchen will think you want it “Thai spicy” if you don’t elaborate. Thai spicy dropped me and I love spicy. 😂“

“We stopped by East Bay Spices while we were at a concert at the Greek Theatre in Berkeley, and we’re so glad we did. The cocktails were amazing, and the food was delicious. I tried the paneer tacos and my wife had the empanada — we both really enjoyed everything.

The staff was very friendly, and even though the food took a little longer than expected, the quality was absolutely worth it. Special thanks to the bartender and the whole team for the great experience. We’ll definitely be back!“

“Delicious, fresh and wholesome food! We were visiting from out of town and just googled breakfast in Berkeley, and this place popped up. So glad we chose it, because our food was delicious. Our group had the lox bagel, breakfast burrito, and the jumpstart breakfast with pancakes and bacon. Everything was quality and cooked well. The smoothies and espresso drinks were also great!“

“I had to give a review because I've been here so many times and this location is probably the best. Every time I come here my sandwich is always super enjoyable. It really know how to make a good sandwich and they know how to get really good customer service. Definitely wanted to make a review sooner than later, but this place is great. I do like everybody that works there. They're great every time I come here it never upsets. I haven't been coming here as much as I used to but every time I one night sandwich in the East Bay I come here“
