“I have been wanting to try this place for a while, and I’m so glad I finally did. The food was very fresh and delicious, and reasonably priced for the quality. The braised lamb sandwich had soft flatbread, crunchy herbs and vegetables, a tangy sauce, and perfectly tender lamb. The service was friendly, warm, and the food came out quickly. Fava is a lovely lunch spot and I would recommend it to anyone looking for a pleasant lunch in North Berkeley.“

“Lunched here several times - offerings are light, tasty, and healthy. Coffee drinks are solid. Pretty space with ample seating, good for meetups or solo dining. Moderate noise on the quieter side. A separate communal table area where kids / families gravitate makes it kidfriendly. Largely self-service.“

“Both hands up for this wonderful coffee place I happened to stumble upon, right outside the skirts of Downtown Berkeley. They're located right on the intersection of MLK and University, right behind the Indian restaurant.

This coffee place is honestly a little bit small, so please proceed with caution at all costs. But it really makes you feel cozy at home. They do have upstairs seating, but rather really limited. It will be full at times, and at times, not at all. It depends on the time that you go.

They have a wide assortment of sweet and savory pastries available as well. I got their ham & cheese scone, as well as their speciality drink, their banana cream iced coffee. I love how balanced their iced coffee is with the banana cream, which surprisingly, is made with ACTUAL banana puree made from actual bananas.

The barista who made my drink was very nice and very chill, and served it rather quick. That's what's up!

This is a true mom-and-pop gem in Berkeley — the pretzels are delicious and genuinely creative, not your average twist of dough. “Arrived around 12:15 PM today to find a line out the door—about 20 people—but my wait was only around 15 minutes. The customer area is small - space for 5-6 people, but the two staff members were quick and efficient at keeping things moving. There was a great selection of freshly baked goods, and I thought the prices were very reasonable for the quality and freshness. A busy bakery with plenty of demand, but definitely worth a visit! There are 7 parking spaces near the entry door and additional spaces behind the building.“

“I was not expecting this to be literally the best cupcake I’ve ever had. I got the chocolate Raspberry and it was so so delicious. It had a yummy cream cheese frosting that is perfectly balanced with tangy and sweet, a yummy raspberry filling that moistens the cake, as well as a rich chocolate cake with a delicious deep flavor! This cupcake made my anti cupcake girlfriend rethink everything she knows about cupcakes.“

“This is a small, friendly, casual cafe in downtown Berkeley. The menu is extensive (although not SOS-free, if that matters to you) and the dishes are fresh and well-prepared. They were quite busy when we were there but managed to provide excellent and quick service. The portion sizes are good - it's near the University and there were students there when we were. We all look forward to going back again soon.“

“I love this place. Honestly, my favorite thing is their house curry. It tastes like a warm, home- cooked meal. SO so yummy. I keep coming back for more and more of it. I can’t believe no reviews have mentioned it yet. This place is worth visiting just for that curry alone.
The coffee is also spectacular. My go-to is the kokuto latte — perfectly balanced and tasty.
To top it all off, it’s located in the perfect spot— an amazing park filled with amazing people. This place is the best!“

“This is a hidden gem.. also incredibly fresh and so cheap. 3$ for veg rolls. The owner is not that friendly or warm at all and pretty annoying to interact with but I think that the quality of the food is so good that she is completely entitled to act that way. If I was the owner of an old sushi shop on Solano Ave I would most likely act that way too.“

“The staff here were super friendly and nice. Had one of their famous cheese puff which had a sweet cheese inside. Also ate a pocket chicken pot pie, which was
warm and savory on the inside while being flaky and crispy on the outside. Loved both items I got! Will be coming back to try some of their other sweet items.

The indoor dining area is small, but there is bench seating outside. Sadly the FatApple’s restaurant next door is closed.“

“Freshroll is one of my favorite places to eat in Berkeley. For under $7, you get a HUGE Spring Roll with a bunch of fillings and your choice of meat (or no meat). $1 extra for avocado (worth it) and you can also get an extra side of sauce, but the roll does come with sauce. I cannot recommend the chicken enough. It is the only warm thing about the roll but it is highly seasoned and delicious. These folks get your food out insanely fast and I have been here MANY times and have always received consistent, fresh food.“

I think this place is for the people who live here or after they finish playing sports. You have to go thru the gate in order to park. The closest street parking nearby is on Domingo Ave.“

“We stopped by East Bay Spices while we were at a concert at the Greek Theatre in Berkeley, and we’re so glad we did. The cocktails were amazing, and the food was delicious. I tried the paneer tacos and my wife had the empanada — we both really enjoyed everything.

The staff was very friendly, and even though the food took a little longer than expected, the quality was absolutely worth it. Special thanks to the bartender and the whole team for the great experience. We’ll definitely be back!“

“Delicious, fresh and wholesome food! We were visiting from out of town and just googled breakfast in Berkeley, and this place popped up. So glad we chose it, because our food was delicious. Our group had the lox bagel, breakfast burrito, and the jumpstart breakfast with pancakes and bacon. Everything was quality and cooked well. The smoothies and espresso drinks were also great!“
