“State flour is a must if you’re in the Berkeley area! It’s up there with some of the best in terms of quality and balance of flavors. A delicious and well-seasoned crust, perfectly portioned toppings, and also great service! It can get very crowded so it was just loud and hard to hear but atmosphere aside, the pizza and service is top tier. I could see myself ordering this to go and it being a great time. I’ll for sure be back! ?“

? I was lucky enough to be visiting for their legendary potato pizza. It includes goat cheese, baby kale, and a delicious white sauce. I couldn't get enough, it wasn't overly oily or heavy and left me feeling so satisfied. Pizzas come with their special ""green sauce"" which was kind of like a mint chimichurri. This was a great compliment to the already delicious pizza.

??‍? This specific location has plenty of inside seating, I was ordering my box to go. I love how they give you two extra slivers of pizza on top of the full size, I ate them as I walked to my destination!

“Some of the best Old School pizza in the East bay, not quite new york, not quite california, but an original slice that has been the same way, for over 50 years. Located in the center of an esteemed food court on Euclid Street in Berkeley, La val's is Berkeley restaurant history.
La Val's basement still periodically has entertainment, bands, and theater going on. But whatever you do, order the special and enjoy a slice of La Val's historic Pizza. This is real Berkeley food.“

“I LOVE this pizza. Knuckle head flavor is my favorite (sausage, red onion, mushrooms). A lot of meat eaters and vegetarians love and prefer their Margherita. It's a thin pizza, similar to New York, I hear. Love their crust. Quality ingredients. Eat it fast as it cools down quickly. Careful with the first slice as the crust is very thin and the toppings can slide off. I love that we can enjoy beverages at Fieldwork and enjoy Citizen Pizza at the tables. I prefer their knucklehead, but my partner prefers Margherita. So, what to do? No worries! Depending on which you pick, you can get these two flavors, one flavor on each half of the pizza - half and half. They'll just charge you for the pricier costing one.

“It's always a good day when you can get some Slivers. The green sauce is of course amazeballs, a must-get every time you buy a pizza. I feel like their prices are reasonable for what you get, and they almost always add in a couple of free extra slices. My favorite is the yukon potato and corn pizza, but the mushroom pizza is a close second.

I also love love love the fact that their gluten-free and dairy-free pizzas are the same price as their normal pizzas, you don't see that in other restaurants.

Rarely ever a line and when there is it moves very quickly. Service is always fast and easy.“

“I've been a regular at this bar, as well as at East Bay Spice Company. I was quite disheartened to see a negative review from Shay that criticized the bartender, who I believe did nothing wrong.

To provide some context, I’m a Black male who was having a great time with a friend, and I was using the N-word quite loudly throughout the night. The bartender asked me to tone it down, but I didn't. Later, when a young lady asked where is the restroom, he jokingly asked "do you know the password." Whether that was the most appropriate joke is debatable. However, I recognize that my loud use of the word may have contributed to the misunderstanding.

I've known this bartender for over two years, since my junior year in college, and I specifically go to the bar on the days he works. I want to apologize for any misunderstanding or discomfort caused to the young lady. And hopefully clarify what happened.“

“Great pizza !! I got a slice of just pepperoni and it was crispy , cheese was perfect and no flop. They hook it up with the pepperoni! Also they play three different types of sports which is awesome cuz it’s hard to find a place that plays hockey The service was excellent and the vibe was chill. “Top shelf experience!!! Amazing food that will make u drool like a salivating puppy. Ive had the flat bread pizza and the tacos and they were AMAZIN!!!! Every time the chef brings out a plate of food, I look over telling myself I’m ordering that next time. As far as the drinks…. Literally anything and everything can be crafted. Leaving you well hydrated and feeling better than ever. Though Jesse (bartender) is originally from Pennsylvania , he’s adopted the love for bay area sports and makes sure games are always played on the TV’s. “This is a To-Go lunch spot adjacent to the Oceanview Diner. It's basically an entire separate restaurant with a different kitchen. I work on Fourth Street, and this my go-to place for lunch. I used to do Market Hall, but the food here is better and the prices are better, pretty reasonable for the bay. You can get a satisfying meal for ~$10 and a good snack for $5. They do a few things really well. All the prepared dishes from the glass case I've tried have been great. Some staples include lentils & feta, chicken salad, potato salad, and there's always a daily special that's been tasty every time I've tried it. You can also combo the mixed greens salad (+ tomatoes, pickled red onion, and dressing) with one of the prepared dishes, which makes for a light and fresh lunch. The middle eastern combo (hummus, greens, pita, dolmas, veggies) is a lot of food and a good deal; the empanadas are great for a snack, and you get some fresh homemade chimichurri with them. The "burrito" is kind of funny (you get two little burritos) but it's cheap and tasty. Tuna toast is a good snack as well. Last but not least, the baked goods are bomb. As I understand it, they have a few different bakers who come in and contribute to the pastry case. All the cookies and cakes I've had have been delicious. The lemon pistachio shortbread, brown sugar shortbread, lemon cake all transport me to a childhood I didn't know I had. All in all, the output of this place is truly impressive. There are so many different little elements to the lunch offerings, and everything appears to be homemade, even the pickles! I don't know how they manage it and run a full-on diner next door, but I'm grateful for it. It's got a locals-only vibe and can be pretty hectic at the lunch rush, but that shouldn't deter you. Also, you don't necessarily have to take it "to-go"; there's two high tops inside and some seating out front.“
